Do Carbs Affect The Thyroid?
Has anyone found that their metabolism improved after going low carb? Their is some thought that for carb sensitives, carbs, or possibly gluten, affects the thyroid slowing metabolism.

no. my thyroid problems seemed to peak and be diagnosed in the middle of a long period of low carbing. some attribute that sort of thing to the low carbs themselves, making the thyroid worse, but I think it just happened with time.

Many hypothyroids have Hashimoto's, and they are often also celiac OR just sensitive to gluten. If that's the case, gluten will cause gastric distress and sometimes joint pain.
I have Hashi's, and my endo told me that he also suspects that I have a 'genetically slow metabolism,' resulting in lifetime obesity. I am also extremely carb sensitive. Carbs affect my weight, not my thyroid. |

there are some people that are more successful low carb. I lost all my wt eating carbs. I do avoid gluten but am not gluten free.
I do wt 4 x a week for a hr and less than an hr a week of cardio. I feel much better eating carbs than low carb. We ea have to find what works best. |
