noob here

Hello! My first post here, I hope to get to know some of you here and join in the discussion.
I have been hypo since 2002 when I had surgery to remove my thyroid. I gained 60 lbs in the 6 months after my surgery, going from 126 to 186. Since then I really haven't done anything about it and l'm finally ready to do something. I have tried other things but quit because they just didn't work. Before being hypo, my metabolism was terrific, now it is terrible!
Since starting this diet, I realize I don't have much support, I know they don't mean it, but I think everyone is just waiting for me to fail.
I take 3-4 grain of Armour thyroid a day. My biggest fear is they will run out of Armour.

Welcome!
Are you feeling well on that dose? We can look at labs that you have done to help sort this out. Getting familiar with your labs really helps. Get a copy of each panel you have done, then you can keep track where you feel well.

Eating low carb has really help me...

I do feel pretty good. I insisted on armour with my endocrinologist, he wanted synthroid which doesn't work for me. I think, and I have not researched this, but I think that after my 60 pound weight gain, that somehow my metabolism 'thinks' that is the weight I should be and holds on to the weight making it very hard to lose any unless I eat NO food! I am hoping the low carb will be my answer!
My next appointment is in a few months and I will get my labs.
Thank you Emmaline!
