What would you do?
I have thyroid nodules. About 10years ago when I was first dx with a multi nodule thyroid and hypo then did a couple of sonograms and then the radioactive thyroid scan. Fast forward to now, I have been chocking on my salivia and had a new sonogram - results inconclusive. Have an appt with an endo this week. My primary doc said I most likely have 2 chioices. Either a new radioactive scan or a needle biopsy. For the scan I would have to be off my meds for 3 weeks or so. Thinking I may ask for the biopsy so I don't have to monkey with my meds. What would you do?

I have been in this situation and had the FNB (fine needle biopsy). Twice.

Just a suggestion-If you opt for the biopsy, ask for lidocaine before the procedure. It will numb the site where they go in with the needle and make it much more comfortable for you. I've had two FNAs done. No lidocaine with the first one and it was incredibly painful, I was in tears after two pokes/draws. A year later a had another, this time with lidocaine and I didn't feel a thing.

And I never had to 'ask' for lidocaine....it was all part of the prep. Depends on where you are (just like good thyroid doctors...depends on where you are).
