blood work

After 4 months on Armour, now at 1 grain:

Free T4-0.82 (0.82-1.77)
Free T3-3.1 (2.0-4.4)

He doesn't test TSH. I just got the results in the mail so I haven't talked w/Dr. yet, but just wondering what others think of the T4. I feel good usually but get a bit too tired early afternoon, so was thinking of asking if I could split the dose.

I am very happy with the Ft3, it was 2.0

Well, you're at the very bottom of the FT4 range. Mid-range is 129.5. Mid-range for FT3 is 3.2 so you're close. Some people feel best when both numbers are mid-range. Other people at different levels.

I would feel horrible with my FT4 down at the bottom of the range. For me, right around mid-range or just under works. On the other hand, I feel better when My FT3 is in the upper range, near the 3/4 mark. I'm taking synthetics (always have so far) so I can tweak things if needed.

Every body is different and you have to find your own sweet spot. It takes time and tweaking. This isn't a race.

I would definitely ask about splitting the dose and taking it 2x/day. That way, you'll feel better when you get that 2nd 'dose' of T3 in the afternoon but that FT4 is really low. It just takes time to find the right spot. Since your doctor doesn't go by TSH, thank goodness, I bet you'll get an upward med adjustment looking at those results.

Dr. Mark Siveri in Columbia. I pay out of pocket for office visits, but my insurance pays for labs. Once you have seen him in person, some of your follow ups can be done via e-mail or phone at a significant discount.
