My ND prescribed it, but I am currently seeing a different dr for my thyroid. IIRC, he said that it helps the body use the thyroid med more effectively?

I've been taking it for about 4 months. My reverse t3 has come down a little since I started taking it. Might be coincidence.
There's is a mineral test your doctor can do. A couple drops in the mouth and you say if it is sweet, bitter, or tastes like water. If I remember right, mine tasted a little sweet which means I need to supplement. Bitter means you have enough (or possibly too much). Selenium is one of the minerals that has just about disappeared from soil since it's not included in most fertilizers. That means many people don't get enough in their diet.

I was taking 200mcgs a day and started experiencing hyper symptoms. Found out I don't really didn't need that much, but my vitamin mineral tablet only has 20mcgs in it, so that is all I am going to take.
Since having Graves, RAI am hypo and convert to T3 well I guess. |

I wouldn't think you'd know how the conversion is unless you tested the Free T's. |

I have Graves also. Diagnosed 1.5 yrs ago. Had radioactive iodine and have been pretty good ever since. On 1.5 Synthroid. Only complaint is I'm emotionally not up the way I use to be. Do or did you experience this?

Interesting!
Oh, wow. I've been reading different stories, all good. I'm thinking of taking it b-u-t do some of you take it with Synthroid? I'm a little undecided, maybe scared. I committed myself to eat 5 small meals, every two hours. I've also been reading a couple of people taking their Synthroid at 2 or 3 am, 4 hrs before their first meal, true? I drink smoothies 3 times/wk with rice milk (1/3-1/2 cup) in the morning before working out. Starting to feel a little energetic on most days. Sundays and sometimes one day during the week I'm tired, so no exercise, but I like working out on the other days at Curves and at my college on the treadmill and using upper body strengthening machines. My goal is to continue to do this until I start school again in the Fall then cut back. I'm almost 50-70 lbs overweight, I'm not sure how far down I want to go but I want to be at a healthy level and a certain size/weight for my age. I want to be able to function better and get off some meds.
Again, do some of you take selenium with Synthroid at the same time? And do some of you take it 4 hrs before your first meal? I will not consult with my doctor, she's a good doctor but not a big believer in holistic medicine. I don't want to change doctors because it was difficult to find a good doctor where I live, and too expensive to go to a naturopath or chiropractor. Thanks in advance for any advice. This is a support forum. I don't know you, you don't know me. |

you only have to wait an hr but synthroid can be taken at any time of the day consistently, even at nite as long as its away from other supplements and food. I wouldnt take selinium with my meds..
you will definitely have more energy if you eat protein and some carbs before you train. |
