how much iron should I take?

hi all

I am wondering how much iron I should take to increase my iron levels?

Currently my ferritin level is at 29 (ref interval 20 - 160).

I am now taking:

Bob's Female Iron Formula 37.5mg
(ingredients 37.5 mg Elemental Iron, 25 mg Ascorbic Acid, 2.5 mcg Vit B12, 0.25mg Folic Acid per capsule)

which I got at the compounding pharmacy a couple of days ago.

The pharmacist recommended I take one capsule at bedtime and that I avoid calcium as well as milk, cheese etc around the time I take the iron.

I am wondering if I should take just the one capsule or more, or if perhaps I should take a capsule/s during the day as well.

Please note that at the moment I am not under doctor's recommendation on how to take iron because they say that my iron is on the low side of the reference interval but in 'normal' range so they don't see a problem with it.

But I think it is low.

Thank you all.

If you just got that a couple days ago, you need to re test ferritin AND iron (not just ferritin, for sure) in about three months to see where you are (it's also important to not have too much iron).
