Blood and Salive test results.
Hi
Looking for some input please. Last Novemeber I had blood work: TSH is 1.53 (.40-4.50) T4 free 0.9 ( 0.8-1.8) T3 free 240 ( 230-420) My Dr prescribed 1/4 grain armour and when he upped it 1/2 grain 6 weeks later I began having high BP and heart palps. I dropped it back down to 1/4 grain and it settled down but then stopped taking the compounded b/c it seemed to small amount to fix anything. My dr. also began making comments that my TSH was fine so I probably didn't need it. I fired him and moved on to a natural doctor who ran a ton of tests for me in Feb. Vitam D, 25 Hydroxy 32.2 range32.0-100.0 TSH 1.15 Free T4 1.0 range 0.8-1.8 Free T3 293 (230-420) Serum Ferritin 30 (10-291) Adrenal Stress Index 6-8 am 8 (13-24) 11 AM- NOON 5 (5-10) 4-5 pm 3 (3-8) 10 pm-midnight 2 (1-4) My natural Holistic guy also did a hair test for metals, blood tests for allergies (found out I was allergic to soy and egg), and saliva hormone testing which showed high testosterone 34 normal range 8-20, low estrone 36 range 38-68and low estriol 11 range 12-25, and good progesterone 263 range 65-500. He put me on a gluten free, dairy free diet and told me I was insulin resisitant and have PCOS. Gave me some adrenal herbal formulas, glycemic health formulas and told me to come back in a 4-6 weeks. I see him again at the ned of next month Today I went to my Gyno and she looked at the results that i brought in from Feb and said my Thyroid is fine, my estrogen is certainly not low b/c i have regualr periods, and that saliva testing for hormones is useless so she took blood to check levels. I should have those results in a week or so. She said I wasn't insulin resistant 8.8 (0.0-24.9) and that I didn't have PCOS b/c i ovulate every month and have regular periods. i am going to be 46 yrs old this summer. She said my hair doesn't look that bad. It's so thin esp on top. It has been falling out for 8 years and I do the Donald Trump comb over. She said only I notice it but she can hardly tell. I feel defeated. I wanted her to be on my side and I explained about my FT3 and FT4 being low, and that even though my TSH looked fine I don't have enough t3 and t4 circulating in my body. She didn't agree and said they are in the normal range! Bleh!! Not that her opinion really matters b/c I KNOW that until I get my Vit D, Ferritin and Adrenals up, I won't be able to tolerate thyroid meds anyway. Opinions?? I've posted before e few time and got good info. But though I'd give an update to anyone who had read my posts in the past. Have a great weekend All!!! Sherry ![]() |

Yeah..that horribly low ferritin...EEEKKKK that'd have me bald!!! That would also give heart palps if you were given thyroid before it was fixed (and the adrenals aren't good also, but you know that..what are you doing about it?)

I've been having a lot of luck researching my health problems on Women to Women dot com. It's a holistic/integrative clinic that always has a ton of research avaialble. Here are two articles that you might find helpful. One of Hypothyroidism in menopause — a whole-body perspective and the other on You don't have to put up with thinning hair!
Good luck! |
