Dr. Jeffrey Dach Hollywood Florida....Any feedback?
Hi all! I am in Florida looking for a strong thyroid Doc and came across Dr. Dach's website where he is strong on natural meds (Naturethroid) and indepth thyroid testing. Was wondering if anybody has gone to him or any feedback. Thank you!

He's the one who thinks selenium can decrease antibody levels. (i am one of the subjects in a scientific study on this...it didn't work for any of us in the study). Antibody levels (TPO AB) decrease as the thyroid is killed by them anyway. So, which was it. The selenium...or the thyroid got killed off? Hmmmm......
Anyway, he goes on in his blog talking about a woman who was given thyroid hormone and he gave her selenium instead. Which confused ME knowing that antibodies are high anyway...and that they come down eventually and she'd need replacement thyroid hormone anyway. ??? I don't know anyone who's gone to him. If you go (and have the money to do that) than I'd appreciate knowing just how MUCH natural thyroid he would Rx. (I do hear he is good at BHRT..estradiol, progesterone, testosterone natural hormone replacement, but lots of docs are..we have one near me who is excellent at those hormones but gives everyone who is female one grain of NDT and males two grains...depends). I read long enough to see some of the blog and then..um..stopped. Pam Last edited by nonstickpam107; 01-29-2010 at 05:27 PM.. |

Yeah, he 'cites' two tests, one in Crete and one in Germany (each with 63 patients with half only getting placebo). Ack. And, read his page CAREFULLY he says straight up that he treats with 'supplements' and 'iodine'. So...I'd want to know FIRST if he Rx.'s NDT.
Dr. Ken Wolinar is in Boca Raton. He's naturapathic (but I don't agree with his supplements all the time, nor his 'take' on nutrition...or the costs Pam |

Thank you very much! I was taking Iodoral a few years ago when I was also on the old Armour and my thyroid quickly went so high (or low I was under a 1) my Doc told me to stop taking it! So I guess that Iodoral (iodine) is quite efficient. I cant remember why but I dont think I liked taking it for some reason. I think I will put out a general question about iodine results on here as well to get some feedback. BTW is Dr. Dach expensive?

Most people arent iodine deficient.. and the most common form of thyroid disease is hashi's. mostly doesnt work with patients with hashi's.. the thyroid shrivels and cant use the iodione i believe is what pam said. |

i have been going to Dr Dach for a couple of years now. He is wonderful. He does do lots of blood test and he does use Nature Thyroid. He is also very accesable with is really important when you are trying to get your medication right. He always finds time to answer my questions about any of my medical concerns not just my thyroid. His newletter is also very informative. I have been to a couple of doctors that will give you the natual thyroid however it is always a mission if the medication isn't right. Not with Dr Dach I just send him a quick email or call the office and he always gets back to me the same day. I feel so much better since seeing him.

yoyo, how MUCH Naturethroid (and how are you getting it now..most can't obtain it...) and where does he think normal is with FT's? Does he DO Free T's and give YOU the lab copies? (I'd like to add him to my advocation good thyroid docs list, but I must ask first, as so VERY many women go to a 'supposedly' good thyroid doctor only to get a measly grain of Thyroid and no FT's taken at ALL or worse yet, lots of iodine only to find out it exacerbated their Hashimoto's (and the doc never did the tests to determine if they had that). MANY doctors are Rx'ing Naturethroid, Armour (new formulation is not good), and Thyroid, but only enough to send the TSH plummet instead of using FT's to determine dosage. I thank you very much for your posts and recommendation.

he currently gets the Nature thyroid from Clarks pharmacy. He was using Medaus. I take 6 grain. He does many blood test and yes he gives me a copy of the results. He does TSH FT3 and FT4 Anti TPO abs and Anti Thyroglob. I have hashi's as well. We don't have a number that he considers normal he talks to you and ask you how your feeling as well as the blood test. When Armour switched there fomula I wasn't feeling myself when I called to talk about it he changed me to nature thyroid. Much better

YoYo thank you for your input. So I can get NT from Clarks pharmacy? Do you have a number for them? I am driving my doc crazy I just got him to give me a Rx for Erfa but I would prefer to take the NT if I can find it and have a reliable supply. Can you tell me (maybe PM) WHAT Dr. Dachs rates are? Does he take insurance? I really need to get on track with a reliable Doc and he sounds pretty good! Thanx again all for the feedback!

That's great (cuz it's EXTREMELY difficult to get an appointment with most docs who accept insurance and don't charge an arm and a leg who do good thyroid).

Hello all,
I'm a patient of Dr. Dach in Hollywood, Florida. I started seeing him in 2007. My problems weren't straightforward. I was producing almost no pituitary hormones due to trauma. I was hypothyroid, had secondary adrenal insufficiency, & early menopause ie. no estrogen, progesterone. I'd been seeing a well respected endocrinologist who put me on T4 only (synthroid), cortisone acetate, & premarin + provera ( yikes). Bottom line, I still felt horrible. I found Dr Dach through Women's International Pharmacy (compounding pharmacy). I found him very pleasant, optimistic, & very knowledgeable. He even recommended several books regarding thyroid & adrenal function. Over the next 6 -12 months, using lab tests & my reported symptoms, he switched me to DPT (Nature throid, 3.5gr) & hyrocortisone (35 mg). He encouraged me to take Ioderal , an OTC iodine supplement. Now post-menopausal, he prescribed estrogen & progesterone creams. I began to feel an improvement in the first few weeks & even friends began to notice the change. You'll rarely find a physician more responsive. He'll promptly return a call or email about a problem or question. I'd recommend him (& have) to anyone with endocrine problems. |

Ok, whoever from HERE sees Dr. Dach, I would like a full report. (sorry, I know several docs in my area who 'get' people to 'write about them'. And they have no background whatever.
So...he'll go on my list IF someone I 'know' (y'all have ONE post...ONE) goes. TIA. Pam |
