Can't Believe it
Call the doctor's office this morning and Jenna, receptionist, told me to shop around and call the pharmacy's in the area myself for thyroid meds. She said the doctor reviews all labs and prescribes accordingly and it's up to me to find the thyroid medicine. "It's a nightmare for them to call around." Is this the way its done?
I called where I got my last script and (1) no refills ordered (2) no more, pulled from the market by our government. So I should find my own medicine - then what? |

Most of us are getting it from ERFA Canada, and it's like the 'old Armour' or we are getting it compounded from a good compounder. None of us getting from Canada have had any problems....either we or the doc send in the script (with payment) and it's shipped to us. Wow, this has me wondering why we pay them? Incredibly sad situation. Absolutely amazing. |

Well, if you've been keeping up with the 'saga' of the reformulation of Armour (failure) and then the two other labs who tried to keep up with demand (one of them only has 25 or so people working there!) and then some of the compounding pharmacies now running out of product, etc. Incidentally, I've pretty much been 'finding my own sources' for the past 11 years as far as natural porcine thyroid and BHRT. I don't find it amazing anymore (guess I'm jaded now, lol). But, I've always wondered why we pay so much because most only do a TSH.
Many have also switched over to using synthetic T4 and synthetic T3 (Cytomel). Pam

Oh yeah, I'm up on it (thank goodness, I guess...that the synthetics work for me, that I know of anyway, and I don't have to go through this - otherwise I'd be there with everyone else). I just don't recall anyone putting it out there quite like this. It sucks.

It does, indeed, suck.
