Is the supplement Co Q-10 okay for hypothyroid gals?

It doesn't hinder thyroid function does it?

tia!

As long as you are well replaced with your Ft4 at midway of range and your FT3 a bit higher than that, I don't see why it would.

Thank you Pam!

I have an old fashioned doc (and not alot of choice because of the militray), BUT I he is caring if that makes sense, SO I talked him into (I know, I know!) letting me go back the synthroid and cytomel combo he talked me out of last year!

So, I'm on .75 mcg of Synthroid and 10 mg of Cytomel daily. I take the Cytomel 5mcg in the early morning and 5 at lunch/early afternoon. I just started this last week and get my blood drawn in early January. I hope my tsh is low, but not under range...I don't want this doc to freak out! He pretty much goes on TSH. Again, I know....but for now I have to deal.

Oh, that's great to hear! You're right where I want to be weight-wise!

I had to lol yesterday. This girlfriend and I are constantly sharing anti-aging and supplement information. Tuesday I gave her a tube of Tazorac (synthetic retinoid for wrinkles) and the next day she slips me a bottle of this CoQ10 and is all like "Here, take this it'll make you feel good" in a hushed voice. We both laughed so hard! Some people do illicit drugs, we do antiaging!

Um, if the doc isn't going by T4 and T3 and you're 'scared' about the TSH being very low (and it WILL be within minutes of taking T3) then I'd 'skip' the cytomel the afternoon dose and then the am dose the day of testing, then wait till 1pm to test...then take 5mg. after.

Thank you Pam for this and thank you for not judging me about my military doc! Well, maybe judging is the wrong way to put it, but thanks for understanding my situation. I have to go w/this doc for now so in a way I have to "play by his rules" unfortunately. AT LEAST he is somewhat caring and does listen.....he obliged me with the T3 which I'm so thankful for!

SOOOO, if I don't take the T3 within a day of this test, will this help to ensure that my TSH isn't what he might consider too low (but what many of us hypo gals knows isn't!)? I was at 2.17 a month ago I felt so tired and I also kept gaining weight! That is what prompted me to request the T3 again.

I'm just afraid if my TSH comes back at lets say a .6, he may freak, kwim? I thought that T3 affected TSH for much longer than you're suggesting, so I'm thrilled that I may have found a way to get around this. In no way would I normally suggest such a thing, but if I can make sure my TSH isn't alarming for him, it would be help ensure that I can keep on the T3.

((((hugs)))) Pam!

I hear ya, and half of my family is military...and if ya don't mind>>>could you please PM me with this docs particulars (name, where he/she is, etc.). I very seldom hear of a military doc who WILL Rx. T3 so there is a 'line' of folks wanting to know that, lol.

Yeah, if the TSH comes back as low as mine, he'll freak. Mine is .002 (but my FT4 is barely midway of range and my FT3 is um...all the way to top but that's where I NEED it to function like a real human being). If I skip my T3 the day before test, and the morning of...my TSH is more like..um.... .80 which is still 'in range'. Albeit low. heh heh. glad you are feeling better. Yeah, I wouldn't normally suggest this little trick either, but I'm for the patient feeling better FIRST, and the doc reacting to the TSH second.

Pam
