Pam & Others your opinions PLS!!

I'm 54 on BHRT, Armour 1 grain daily, am insulin resistant and have PCOS. Had appt with an endo today for a second opinion. She insist that I should not be on Armour, that my TSH is to low and she goes by TSH and T4 numbers. I'm not sure what to do now. I have an appt. with my regular dr. at the end of this month. This dr. is the one who has me on Armour and my other meds. Here are my results from blood work.
December 2008 results
TSH 1.860/ 0.45 -4.5
Thyroxine 5.4/ 4.5 -12
T3 Uptake 36/ 24 -39
Free thyroxine 1.9/ 1.2 -4.9

August 2009
T3 total 89/ 97 -219
T4,free 1.1/ 0.8 -1.8
TSH 1.05/ 0.4 -4.5

Started Armour
Sept. 2009
T3,free 322/ 230 -420
T3,total 110/ 97 -219
T4,free 0.8/ 0.8 -1.8
TSH 0.29/ 0.40 4.50

Ditch the endo and listen to your other doctor.

I would ask you what are your symptoms? How do you feel? Why did you seek out an endo's opinion, is it because you have worsening symptoms and are not feeling well at all?

You've got a LOT going on: BHRT, IR, PCOS...can't be easy to get all of those things under control...I wish you well. And agree with the others...your endo is not helping you any with the thyroid stuff.

Pam & Others your opinions PLS!

Ileen and CarolynF, I was thinking the same. Guess I needed reassuring.
Lisa46 my symptoms are high cholesterol, constipation, weight gain about 12lbs in two weeks time never changed eating plan, inability to lose, irritable, low basal temp etc. I had the endo appt.about three months ago when I gained the 12lbs and was upset because my dr. wouldn't do anything. She kept saying when we get your hormones balanced you will start to lose. Not long after she put me on Armour and then about a month ago I started on metformin I am now back down to the weight I was when I started seeing her in Dec of 2008. I really appreciate the input, this place, you good people, your struggles and victories it's what helps to keep me going!!

Hogtie the endo and have a BBQ. Stay with the family doc and your results on one grain look pretty good, but you have room to go higher, actually (TSH means um..nuttin' on natural thyroid, some (like me, for instance) like their FT3 almost to top of range, some don't, it's an individual thing. When you post enough to PM (private message) I'd be much obliged to know the Armour giving doc's name and whereabouts so others can be treated well. TIA

No kidding! Hope she is near MN!

Prairie, to you to get the right treatment soon! My daughter has PCOS and when she started Metformin she lost weight but had some nasty side effects. Always a battle, isn't it?
