Pam, opinion on HRC Medical?
Pam, HRC Medical has opened a clinic in my area. Do you know of them and do you have an opinion? I went for a consult yesterday and they use pellet implants. There faq states that 'estrogen and testosterone therapy by implantation of pellets is a safe and effective method of hormone therapy for both men and women'. Nothing about thyroid supplementation. My estrogen and testosterone have always been high, progesterone non-existant. TSH and free T4 are ok. Free T3 is at the low end of normal. This doesn't sound like this is the right treatment protocol for me. Your thoughts?

Let me try phrasing the question a different way. You recommended several months ago that I find a BHRT doctor. HRC Medical claims to be BHRT. I don't think this is the right approach for me since my focus is thyroid issues. Do I need to look for a different BHRT doctor? Do you have any recommendations in the Raleight/Durham/Chapel Hill North Carolina area? There is a compounding pharmacy in Chapel Hill. The two recommendations they made are both OB/GYN doctors. Would it be appropriate to see one of them or do I need to be looking for an endocrinologist? I don't know if I am not asking the right questions, but both times you have seemed to just dismiss my concerns and I really am reaching out for some help.
Thanks for your time. |

OB/GYN's generally do good BHRT (if they have knowledge of BHRT...some are STILL pushing horse pee and synthetics), but generally do crappy thyroid....the question you might ask FIRST about thyroid are: Do you do Free T4 and Free T3 testing? Do you Rx. natural porcine thyroid (this is hard to get right now, but you CAN get it from Canada with a Rx. or from a compounding pharmacy). And...do you Rx. synthetic T4 AND Cytomel (synthetic T3)? If they do NEITHER and go by TSH, than they aren't going to do good thyroid treatment. A poster by the moniker of Alliekat will know a doc who does T4/T3 testing and Cytomel/T4/natural Rx. You might ask her.
Or post here: Who has a good T4/Cytomel or natural thyroid Rx'ing doc in NC. Pam

Thanks Pam. I am determined to find someone who will work with me to get my metabolism optimized. I do appreciate your wealth of knowledge and it helped me with the questions I asked HRC yesterday.
Thanks again! |
