Postmenopause question?
When you are far into postmenopause, do you need less thyroid medicine? I am thinking without estrogen replacement, you don't need as much.
I have had to lower my dessicated thyroid lately. Have been searching it on google. Thanks |

Your dosage of thyroid is titrated (or should be) by seeing your Free T4 and Free T3. If you are eating soy, or taking supps or hormones which bind the incoming thyroid replacement, than seeing your Free T4 and Free T3 will tell the doctor how much you need.

I came back and re-read this. INCOMING replacement hormones RX'd bind the incoming thyroid. Losing all your hormones (ie: having a hysterectomy) doesn't necessarily reduce the need or bind.
