So I finally saw an endocrinologist - and fired him

Wow, I am so unimpressed. How incredibly pathetic that in 2009 he does nothing but watch TSH. THIS is a doctor specialized in endocrine disease? WOW

I called the compounding pharmacy here and got the name of an outstanding nurse practitioner who knows how to actually treat a person instead of a TSH.

I don't care how much schooling Mr endo had, he's nothing more than an arrogant idiot IMNSHO.

I'm writing a letter to his office and the referring physician.

and that's all I have to say about that.

Taz, can ya pm the name and particulars of the NP please? I know you are in a difficult area to get good thyroid care and it might come in handy for someone else. TIA. Sorry ya had to put up with a stupid endo. There's lots where he came from unfortunately.

Becky, sorry about your experience. As you probably know most of us on this board have gone through similiar experiences with, as Pam call them, TSH worshippers. I hope all works out with the NP the pharmacy recommended!

yep you know I had planned on it - i hope you can share it with others.

I am sooo grateful i happened to call the compounding pharmacy and found this woman - she's a RN. And the woman I'm seeing is a FNP. The RN at the compounding phcy does 2 hour free lectures monthly on metabolic hypo - i'm not saying it right - but i'm too tired to look it up. Anyway, I'm going in December - i can't in November due to work.

I don't know why but i am having a miserable time since i switched to Westhroid - it's weird i guess my body just won't absorb it the same. So I need someone who will treat more than a blasted piece of paper.

I am so disgusted there are so few docs who can. But I know you all understand!

This guy is lucky i haven't written the local paper - i'm still considering it. However i try not to do things out of anger.
I try - i don't always succeed Fatigue, dry hair and weight gain make me xtra crabby though - so he may be toast.

Anything else you've changed since changing to Westhroid? Different eats...different stress? Different climate? (I'm just trying to maybe find a reason other than the switch to Westhroid...Westhroid makes me 'speedier' and my hair and skin are drier...other than that, I sleep much better taking Westhroid than I did on Armour...which is weird too, lol).

Becky, I go to a Nurse P, too.. She is the only one who tests all 3 things and can actually interpret the results. I'm on Westhroid, too..But, just started slowly losing a tiny bit of weight.

I've been dealing with Endo's for so long! I've grown to hate them.
I've had better luck with a P.A! For years i went to an endo, never Dxed until i saw a P.A .They said i was "depressed" that i ate too much. I understand they have schooling but they will NEVER know exactly what you are feeling.Somehow they just don't understand it.

I am glad you found someone to help you!
