Synthroid

Does anyone know of any problems that would occur if I took Synthroid in the evening? How far would I have to take it from food?
THanks!

Just an hour, and it wouldn't matter cuz it takes roughly four to six WEEKS for it to be 'working and active' in the body. If you aren't converting that Synthroid into a proper amount of T3 it's not going to give you the most energy. About 94% of all of us who are hypothyroid need additional T3.

I take a form of synthroid, and it has to be taken on an EMPTY stomach with no food or drink for an hour AFTER.

It seems to me that it takes more than an hour for the stomach to empty, so if you plan to take it after your evening meal, I'd suggest at least 2-3 hours before the meds.

But since it's easier to do this in the morning (i.e., know that your stomach is empty), I don't know why you would want to take it in the evening.

I used to take mine in the morning when I wasn't working during the summer. Once I started up working again, I didn't have that hour to take meds, wait, eat breakfast, and get out the door so I would take mine at bedtime. It is extremely rare that I eat after 6pm or so. Never had a problem taking it that way.

One of the penalties of old age is that I usually have to get up to pee at least once during the night--usually about 2-3 am. So that's when I take my pill (it's on the night table with a bottle of water) because I can't wait the hour for breakfast in the morning.

Not just age sometimes it can be a LC lifestyle- always having to go or small children waking you!
