am I good then?? test results
Ok apparently i had the flu and that is why I was so achy. But I tested for the following and I guess I am ok with the thyroid thing. I don't know what else to expect except to go on with my life. But here is the following: (It looks good to me I would just like to make sure because I know nothing)
Total T3 1.44 TSH 3.570 (It was 4.5 a few months ago so it went down some) T4 Free 0.92 Any comments will help me. Thanks. |

Do you have any symptoms? Also your T4 looks low and from what I read your TSH should be lower but I am learning this too. Hopefully Pam, Ileen or the other pros can weigh in.

Jeez, what a high TSH! I'd be crawling on the floor trying to die! Most 'normal' TSH is a 1 or under. And the FT4..really horrible...too low. Ask next for a TPO antibodies test to see if you have autoimmune Hashimoto's hypothyroidism. (Any TSH over a 3 is suspect for hypothyroidism).

I wasn't sure if that was high I thought it was normal but yes I still have all my symptoms I am just trying to pretend I don't because I was told I was fine. I am just confused. But we are finally moving to INdiana today and I have an appointment with a doctor that was recommended by other people in that area. So we will see. I will have her test me and hopefully get to the bottom of this. But thank you all again. I needed the input.

I'm in Indiana. We have two doctors in the State that are about famous. Who are you seeing?

sorry I haven't written back sooner. We just moved to Indiana a week ago. I had looked a doctor here and read good comments online about her about thyroid so I thought I would give her a try. I scheduled before we moved and had the appointment the second day we lived here. I brought all my previous labs and she right away, detected my thryoid problem!! I was so excited. She said it was definetely hypothyroid. It is such a comfort. I have been miserable since This past Thursday. It has been getting worse. Apparently the aches I have been having as well was Rheumatoid arthritis. I was not expecting that. She seems really educated and tested me for many other things to rule out. I just seen her today again and she started me on meds and I have to see a specialist for the arthritis. I do not yet know that dosage but I think she had said 25mcg synthroid for now. Thank you all for your help. I almost gave up thinking I was truly crazy. I just cried when I got help finally. Thank you for your support and giving me tips on labs. If it wasn't for you all I wouldn't know what labs to ask for. Thanks Pam another job nicely done.
I feel horrible today and hope I am on a road of recovery. If looking for an Evansville IN doctor look up DR Doris Best. Thanks |

There are a couple of doctors in the state that do T4 and T3 therapy. (In other words, they do NOT chuck synthetic T4 only at ya...). As you go along, and see your FT4, FT3 (Free T4, Free T3) testing, if your T4 is going up and up but your T3 tests are very low (less than 2/3 of their lab range) be sure and ask your doctor if she will also give you T3 (either synthetic, call Cytomel or natural thyroid, called: Armour, OR Westhroid, OR naturethroid, or compounded natural thyroid). It's not Dr. LaSalle you are seeing, is it? (She just left Ft. Wayne Endocrinology to start her own practice...we all miss her very much).
There is no one 'good' in Evansville, but one of the two famous doctors for thyroid in the state is in Ft. Wayne...the other isn't taking new patients...in South Bend from what I hear. Ft. Wayne isn't that long of a drive...many are travelling up and over two hours one way driving time to find a doc who will give Cytomel or natural thyroid. And not go by TSH and just T4. Pam
