Armour vs Naturethroid ?

Hi all.Been reading some Mary Shoman info on how Armour has been reformulated and would like some input since I am awaiting results of my latest labs and have not felt good on Armour since the winter.
I was very stressed out this winter and as a result have had weight gain, fatigue, itchy forearms and joint/hip/back issues, also had minor tears in a calf muscle. Not putting all this down to the med but wondered if a switch up on my next Rx would be worth a try? Will post the labs when I get them.
Thanks!

Me too, I'm finding I'm having more hypo symptoms again since my last refill of Amour.

I've been on the 'new formula' for about three months (almost....give or take a couple of days). I do not take mine subling (no need to) and I just had labs come back. They are IDENTICAL to my labs done 3.5 months ago. So..either it's not affecting me (I AM old...heh heh... and have several autoimmune illnesses, and work out with weights three days a week...?? don't know if that would make a difference)...I'm also not taking any other hormones (that bind it in bloodstream).

I haven't had any symptoms of hypo returning (my TSH is a blip on the radar...my FT4 is just a smidge over midway of lab range and my FT3 is almost to top of range). BUT...DH takes Westhroid and felt like he was having returning symptoms on the new formulation (he IS taking another hormone). Hmmm...I'll have labs again in about four months...and will stay on the new formulation unless I have symptoms return.

Pam

I checked all of my local Pharmacies, and none of them can even order Nature-throid or Westhroid. I went to both websites for these thyroid hormones and they are not available in my area.

I checked Caremark online and they list it. I can mail order it or get it at CVS (they own CVS or vice versa). I will wait till I see my labs and talk to my doc. I don't think I am on the new formulation as I can still dissolve it sub lingualy but wondered if maybe the other med might make a slight diff with me. I have several weeks of the old Rx left.

Can anyone send a prescription in to caremark online or does your doc do it for you?

I have Caremark/CVS as part of my healthcare package through work.I would need to get a paper Rx from the Doc although I have seen a doc do it online through a hand held Palm or something. Now that they do it through CVS sometimes I can just get the office to call it in.

I understand why no one would really want to do sublingually, but I can't imagine anyone not taking advantage of the direct absorption into the bloodstream thru the mucous membranes in the cheek. No worrying about waiting to eat. I've stuck one way in my cheek & eaten at same time (don't really recommend though) but I was on massive doses and just about always had a couple melting.

Seems more economical as well as guaranteeing no hormone lost in translation.

i continue to take mine subling. I seem to have a mixed script now of some new and some old. My last months script was all old and i was feeling off.

I also do take other hormones so i need direct absorption. Curious to see where my labs are but with the mixed dosages, not sure if it will show.

Pam, how come hubby does Westhyroid? Did they also change their formula?
