NEWBIE HERE
Hello everyone,
I have been taking Armour for about 3 months now. My doc never informed me that they should be split in half. This is my first time ever hearing of this. I take mine at 7 am and that's it. However I do find that I always become tired at aroound 11am. I'm off work at 1:30pm go home and fall into a very deep sleep til about 2:30when I have to pick up my children. I find that I'm having to push myself thru the day. Is splitting the doses something that I can do on my own or do I have to call and ask my doc first. Jewel |

No..go to Wallie or any pharmacy and get a pill splitter. I am on 2 grains and I take one at
7 a.m and the other half around 2 pm. You are probably due for another blood test, right? Pam tells us to take our meds (1/2), then get your blood drawn 5 hours later so that the T3 won't be distorted. How much Armour are you on? |

Jewel-
Actually, I'd contact the doctor about your tiredness and request another blood test. When I began thyroid meds, I had to have my dosage increased twice in just a few months, and I've heard that's typical at the beginning. Your tiredness may be a sign that you are under-medicated. I've been on meds for several years, and my endo still tests me every 4 months, so getting another blood test now is not unusual. |

I started out on Levothyroxine and that didn't work very well for me. My thyroid kept flipping so rathen than continuing to have the dosage adjusted, I asked that my doc switch to Armour. This is the dosage I was started out on 3 months ago and my doc says that it's very hard to adjust. But I do agree that I may need to have it adjusted as I can feel my body starting to go down.
I will call in the am and set up an appointment. Thanks so much for the quick reponse! ![]() |

Most of us have gone through the adjustment period where they add more meds and then we wait a few months and get tested until we are optimized. Your doctor should have told you that you would need to schedule an appointment, but you can certainly do this to jog his memory..
However, Pam says to wait 4-5 hours after you have taken your Armour before you go for your bloodtest (which in most places can be done anytime)..Good luck. |
