Question for Pam
Pam,
In one of your old post 2005 you said "Cuz you should NOT do DHEA if you have Hashimoto's). My doctor started me out on 25mg of DHEA and then increased it to 50mg and now 75 mg because my lab work went down on 50mg instead of up. Why should Hashi's people not take DHEA? I just found I have Hashi's earlier this year. I have been on Armour since 2001. The other stuff for 1 year before the Armour. Thanks Jackie |

Actually, after lots of studies, and hearing from over 1200 women on DHEA...um..not a one of them kept taking it....and it makes more sense to take testosterone (BHRT) than DHEA. Seems to work a little in women under the age of 40 though. Pulled lots of money from my bank account (took DHEA all the way up to 100mg for a couple of years) but did little else besides bad acne and itching. That's about the time my doc went straight to balancing with BHRT...estradiol, estriol, progesterone and testosterone cream.

Im using DHEA and have lowered my dose down to 12mg/day. I think the DHEA was converting to estrogen and did NOT convert over to Testosterone as dr hoped. works in some women but not me..

interesting.
since i lowered the dose, i dont feel any different either one way or the other. Like you, the more we raised it, it feel? But we were having to raise my progesterone more and more and that is why i suspect that my estrogen was higher. I dropped down the DHEA and have been using the lower dose of Prog (oral) just fine (for the most part) these darn hormones are SO intricate! |
