is cytomel known to cause depression?

I've also been experiencing something similar to hot flashes...I just get really hot and start sweating pretty bad.

There's nothing about depression in the drug info I get with my prescription, and it would be counter-intuitive, since untreated hypothyroid can result in depression. Thus, thyroid hormones would tend to counter depression, it seems to me.

As the other poster mentioned, I'd contact my doctor about these symptoms.

Hot and sweaty?? Are you feeling anxious too? I wonder if you're overmedicated? Have they tested you since starting the Cytomel?

How much Cytomel are you taking and when? (Cytomel should be 'split up' every five hours...one dose am, than another small one around 2pm or so? and maybe even a third dose around 6 or so? SMALL doses, it comes in 5mg. dosages. '

Oh, yeah, I'd be on the phone right NOW and I hope you are.

I DID call last week, they told me that all my levels were now normal and I should consult my primary care physician.

I take 5 mg....1/2 in am and 1/2 in evening.

I felt really good when I began taking it....now I feel like a lump on a log...depressed...irritable. etc tec. I also wonder if I have PMDD though

The health issues are never ending for me. I'm quite complicated

Well, just getting a phone call saying 'You're normal' would really make me upset. Do they think you are a child? You need the copy of the tests, the lab copy. It should be in YOUR files and you should make sure you have copies of all FT4, FT3. (Psst: the Free T3 is the test to see if you are on enough cytomel).
