Amour test results....my TSH is low

Hi,
I've been on Armour for about 4 months. I started with 90's and now I take two 60's, one in the AM and one in the PM. I just took my blood test. My TSH is 0.043. The range is 0.045-4.500. That seems really low. My Free T3 is 3.8, the range is 2.3-4.2. I feel that the TSH is way too low. I'm going to the Doctor on Friday.
Should I switch to Synthroid and add Cytomel?
Donna
My fatigue is better, except today I've been really tired.

My last blood test on 2 grains of Westhroid indicated my TSH was .18 on a scale from
.4 to 4.5. My doctor didn't flinch because the FreeT3 was 411 out of 230-420 and my FreeT4 was 1.1 on a .8 to 1.8 scale.

I don't know what the difference would be if you switch to Synthroid/Cytomel. I think it's fine, but I'm not a doctor.

Thanks,
I panicked when I received the test results. Then I looked at my book, "Stop The Thyroid Madness" and felt better. I don't understand much about the TSH reading being so low. My doctor doesn't seem to be concerned.
How do I know if I should increase the Armour? My fatigue is much less but I'm still not sure if I'm 100%. Should I stay on 120 for a while? My Free T3 is high so that's good. The Doc didn't test my Free T4. He said the T3 was the only test he needed.

Donna: I think your "dosage" is fine. I think the reason that he didn't test the T4 was that he was interested in the conversion. And, T4 is converted to T3, so there is enough T3 in your system.

I complained about being tired to my doctor last time. She had given my bioidentical hormones and I hadn't been taking them, but I started taking them and have more energy.

She said that we need to be balanced "hormonally" as well as with the thyroid.

carolyn,
I'm past menopause. I don't want to take hormone replacement. I don't have many bad symptoms. No hot flashes, night sweats, depression, mood swings, etc.
I'm going to my doctor today so I'll see what he says.

Me, too, Donna..I'm 59 and didn't have many symptoms, either. So, I thought I'd try them for a few months. I think I'm on a very low level of everything.

Hi,
I just returned from the doctor. He said I could stay on my current dose of Armour but he won't let me go higher.
Carolyn, If your not suffering then why the Estrogen?

I did have some very mild "symptoms", but just wanted to know if I would feel better.
I've had a hysterectomy, so I don't have any hormones left. Postmenopausal women should have some hormones, but those who have missing body parts, don't have much.

It sounds like your doctor knows what he is doing..You certainly don't want to go hyper..

Carolyn,
My mother had a full hysterectomy at 37. Afterward, she had a monthy estrogen shot as well as Premaren. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at 75 and died from it. I have no idea if the hormone contributed to the disease. I'm afraid to take hormones because of her illness.
Please let me know how you feel after starting the estrogen.

major fatigue

Help,
I don't know what has happened to me. In the last two weeks I have had MAJOR fatigue. I am so tired I can't do anything but lie down all day. Do you think I'm taking too much Armour?

I'd say you need to get in for blood work ASAP. And I'm no doctor but NO I don't think this could possibly be from too MUCH armour> more like too little. I suspect your T3 numbers aren't what they should be and thus the fatigue.

You are talking about pregnant horse urine. (Pre (pregnant) mar (mare) in (urine). We are talking about bioidentical hormone replacement treatment. Made from plants to produce the IDENTICAL hormones our bodies made when they still could.

All the women in MY family had thyroid disease and my Mother died from Hashimoto's Encephalopathy (at the ripe ol' age of 48) just for want of a little thyroid hormone.

I used BHRT for about seven years while going through menopause...now I don't use any...don't feel the need for it. And btw, weaning off of it was so easy...natural...unlike trying to wean off Premarin or synthetics.

The world is changing.
