Need help adding a pic to my sig please

I read Sherri's amazing post, but it was kinda over my head. To make sure I understand, I gather that the pic must have an internet link right?
If so, my problem is this, the pic I would like to add is saved in my pictures & dosen't have a link. Is this the only way? I mean getting an account w/ one of the sites she listed, posting the pic there then placing a link in the appropriate area on this site?
I'm terribly confused, as I really don't even know the proper termanology.
Thank you in advance to any kind sole that has the paitents to try to help ne understand.
