I have to ask...what is the deal with the HOT-ROX that keep popping up on the banner?
I'm thinking there must be something to it if it's being advertised on this site. I did a search and there hasn't been any mention of it, so just thought I'd ask. Does anyone know anything about it?

It looks like quite a few of the vitamins doctor A reccomends on this diet, which is great till I saw the seventy dollar price tag. I get my vitamins from walmart a lot cheaper than that. Hope that helps.

Previously, most effective fat loss products relied on ephedrine and caffeine. This combination had some degree of effectiveness -- not as much as what might be wanted but still certainly of some use. A problem is that ephedrine, or the ephedra herb, does have side effect problems objectionable to many people. These products are being phased out by most companies for that reason.
The effectiveness that this combination did have was due to two reasons. First, it increased levels of a particular compound in fat cells (called cAMP) and this increases rate of fat loss from the fat cells, and second the ephedrine has some value as an appetite suppressant. Sort of like Dexatrim did. Unfortunately the way it increased cAMP levels in fat cells also resulted in side effects like increased blood pressure, which obviously isn't good, and could give too much jitteriness as well. We decided to look at the problem from scratch, so to speak, and focus on the tasks of causing fat cells to tip the balance towards releasing fat rather than storing fat; of providing support for the metabolism in burning that fat not only without the metabolic slowdown that can accompany dieting but actually with improvement; of providing an appetite suppressing effect and particularly a reduction in carb-cravings; and also providing some vitamin support. The first point is especially important. Fundamentally, when fat cells release fat faster than it comes in, you lose fat, period, and if not you don't. This release of fat also actually speeds metabolism, though it's important also to have metabolic support. The ingredients, two of which incidentally are new to fat loss, are designed to accomplish all this. Looking at some of the key ingredients, Sclaremax increases cAMP even more effectively than ephedrine but without its side effect of increasing blood pressure; A7-E increases thyroid levels and keeps levels of Krebs Cycle intermediates high to support metabolism; guggul also helps support the thyroid; and acetyl-L-tyrosine and 5-HTP help reduce appetite and carb cravings. It's designed so there really isn't anything that anyone ought to add to it. Ephedrine or yohimbine, etc. would just be a mistake because you'd be adding side effects, but not the desired effect. It's possible to add caffeine if you like a lot of caffeine, but not necessary for good results. It's the best we know how to do, and if I can help in any other way I'd be glad to do so. Best of luck with your diet! Last edited by Bill Roberts : 03-28-2003 at 09:30 PM. |

Your banners caught my eye and read the article that is linked. I have a question about you say you feel hot on this product. I am not a scientist...but I have noticed that when I am losing weight, or rather had a week of weight loss, I am frequently cold. And the opposite is true for gaining. I would love to have something help me burn fat better, because my motabilism is so screwed up from yo-yo dieting for 40 years...I worry if the product is safe. Remember the phen-phen disaster. Is this stuff safe? How do you know if it makes a difference?
