Help with Stalking

Ok I'm kidding about actual stalking....sort of.
Is there a way to kind of subscribe to another users posts?
We have some very interesting people here and there are at least two who I would like to see everything they post- is that weird and obsessive?

Does that happen if you make someone your Buddy or Friend- (I forget which one its called here)?

Also related to that if I make someone my Buddy do they know it? Like are they notified? I just imagine people thinking "OMG I dont want Rebecca as MY buddy"

Now I sound like a lunatic! But I still want to know.

Thanks

You cannot subscribe to peoples posts but you can click on their name and a drop down comes down.. you can click on find more posts from that user.. As far as the stalking reference.. Some people might use that to go from thread to thread someone posts in for negative reasons such as to pick a fight.. to harrass or intimidate or just be rude to that person.. if it appears someone is going into a persons threads just to cause problems they will be immediately banned or moderated depending on what is done..

Cheri,
Thanks thats how I have been doing it- just thought there might be a simpler way. There are just a couple of people here- for instance Fawn - that always have such good information I like to see what all they are posting about.

I can see where people would use it to make trouble though.

So what happens when you make someone your Buddy?

You can see when they are online.

I love Fawn, too, but I wouldn't follow her every cyber footstep on a message board. I personally think that is a bit obsessive.

You can add someone to your buddy but it doesn't tell them you are on their list however.. And you can see people online though they might set their profile to invisible mode so they won't show they are online even if they are. Admins can see when someone is online even if they are on the site invisible however. Like if someone posts something very naughty and wants to watch the fireworks we know they are doing it so therefore know if they are trying to cause drama on the site.

I get the impression nobody realizes I was kidding around and being purposely overly dramatic.

So what is the purpose of the Buddy list then? Just to see at a glance who is online or not? I dont even care about that.

Awww Rebecca... I knew you were joking and I am sure everyone else knew you were also.. since I am an admin and a lot of people read these threads I was giving as much information as I could for you and others reading.

This is from the FAQ:

Quote:
The buddy list is used to keep track of the friends you have made on this forum. By going to your "My vB Home", you'll be able to see which of your friends are currently online, and be able to send them a private message. You may add any member of the forums to your buddy list by clicking this button in a member's posts.

Ignore lists are used for those people who's messages you wish not to read. By adding someone to your ignore list, those messages posted by these individuals will be hidden when you read a thread.

Cheri,
I actually didnt mean you. I knew you felt it was wise to give the whole explanation as a good admin should. I also know you can see everything I've done on this forum and therefore know I have never had a problem with anyone or caused any problems.

Believe it or not I had read the Faq and anything else I could find before posting. Short term memory loss I guess.

Thank you for all you and the other admins do to make this possible for everyone.
