Help with inserting link into post?

Hi, can you help?

I was wondering how you can insert a link into the post where *you* decide what the link will say? Can that be done? The link button above doesn't do what I'm used to being done, where it asks you what you want the link to "say" then also what the link is.

For example, can you make a link look like this:

You can find more information here. Where the "here" would be a link to another site.

Is that possible? If not, it's OK, the linking text is fine for sure, and I'll get used to it!

Elle,

The short answer is no.

This board seems to use the title of the linked page for the text. It tends to be more informative than here anyway, so I would just go with it. Also, it keeps really long links from causing problems with the formatting.

The link button script prompt doesn't prompt for the link text, but you can put it in once it's done. In fact after you've pasted in your URL and clicked Okay, the bit that you can replace with your own text should be highlighted, between the tags that make the links.

So you start out with something like the below:
broken to show up the code. replace the >> with [

>>URL="http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/main-lowcarb-lobby/"]http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/main-lowcarb-lobby/

You can then change it to something like this:
>>URL="http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/main-lowcarb-lobby/"]Lobby

Giving you this:
Lobby

I do it like this:

I type out my post the way I want the text to read then I go back the text where I want the link added. I highlight it then click on the icon for the linking (the globe thingy next to insert image) and paste the address. It does all the coding for me.

For example, the low carb board I reference the most is LCF

Yes you can. It's called a "hyperlink". Type the word "here"...where ever you want it, in the edit box. Then, highlight the word "here". You will see a picture of a globe (underneath the white smiley face), in the toolbar. Click on that globe and a box will appear. Erase the "http://" and then paste the link in there. While "here" is still highlighted, I usually click "bold" and then also pick a color of blue. This is how it will look: You can buy Local Harvest meal, here.
