Hang in there, BrattyS. So glad you came and posted. I am not getting on the scale until the end of May. The hormonal shifts were driving me batty.

You have a good attitude about the uptick. Stick with it, we'll get through it, both of us

Hi Kandi-

Really appreciate your thoughts and support. Perhaps you are right, I will just go for the ride and see what happens. I did alot of fat today but I am ok about it. I guess I just need to find the right balance. I could do stillmans during the week and then more fat on weekends. I just know I cant go over 20 g of carbs. Learning how to monitor my protein intake as well. I seem to overeat it!!

Suzanne, Bratty, Lum= hang in there. You guys are all doing great.

I ended up eating too mnay nuts today, but again, cant stress it.

I hope I am not the only one who goes back and forth with stillmans. I am trying to listen to my body to see what it wants, but sometimes it is hard.

Well Ladies, I totally fell off the wagon. Frankly, I've been just chasing it instead of riding it for the last month anyways. But yesterday I completely left it behind and hopped on the binge wagon for a bit. I had been a closet binge eater for years, and believe I used those times to self medicate when feeling low. Yesterday I left work early as I'm still fighting this cold/lung infection/cough/low grade fever thing that I have. I don't know why, but I stopped at a convenience store, and brought home a bag of chips (individual) and a monster Reese chocolate bar. I ate both in one sitting, then went out for wings and spinach dip with my DH for dinner! I had been hovering in the 206 range for 1.5 weeks (and have really been in the 206-210 range for almost a month!). Now I'm back up to 208. I don't know why I do this to myself. I have not been as committed as I want to be, or had been for the first 2.5 months. Grrrr!

To be honest, I think it's time for a change. Nothing drastic, but I think the fat that I keep allowing myself is my problem, and the lack of variety. As much as I LOVE this thread, I'm planning on taking a Stillman's break. I'm still going to eat my lean protein but only two servings a day, but am going incorporate some more veggies and some low carb fruit. I feel that maybe mixing it up a bit will get me back on track with losing.

I figure I will pop in occasionally and say HI, but won't be posting regularly here. You may see me in the general low carb forum though. I wish you all the best of luck though!! It's been great seeing and participating in the success here!!

So I got on the scale this morning as my ring felt loser, and 143.5. Still 3.5 lbs up from my low, 2 full days after the offending dinner. I think I am going to spend the rest of this week just catching up. Now I'm thinking it wasn't really worth it, to "waste" one week...I essentially am traversing old paths still.

Lesson learnt. No more offending foods

Sexyback...sounds like you're doing exactly what you need to do for YOU. Don't dwell on yesterdays slip. You've got this, darlin, regardless of how you do it. You've come a long way and you'll succeed in your own time. Hope you check in soon...you'll be missed!

My body seems to love it when I'm low carb AND low fat. If I'm not low fat, my losses seem to stagnate.

Keep up the good work everyone!

You have done great. Do what is right for you in the moment. Keep up the good work. Don't let one slip derail you completely.

That is the only think I hate about Stillmans. One slip and I spend a week making up for it. You will get there!

Hi ladies! Is it okay if I jump in here for about a week and a half? I typically steer clear of such restrictive diets but I have an event in a couple weeks that I'd love to lose a few pounds for and I figure I can clench my teeth and get through two weeks (technically 13 days).

I didn't weigh this morning but I've been around 129-131 the last few days, which is remarkably better than the 137 I was about 3 weeks ago. I've already been cutting calories and running more miles, but now I'd like to try and buckle down even more to hopefully get to 126-128 for the big day. Or rather, weekend -- my sister is getting married and it's a sort of destination type thing within our state, whole weekend type deal.

So question--which version of the plan do you ladies follow, or suggest I follow to get the best results?

Ha ha , as i look back over my daily weigh ins, i have discovered that...I will go down a few ounces to a pound, followed by a "where the heck did that come from kinda drop" (), only for it to go back up a apound or 2 the next day ?()...then it will be followed by 3 days of just losing ounces to get back to where the first drop was ()...Yea im weird , my body is weird and I am in observation mode ()

Anywho hope all has a great weekend and does better than any expectations we set for ourselves ()

Hey Hay, I know you!

Have you done Stillmans before? it is the most boring diet in the world, but for me nothing get's the weight off quicker.
I have had great success on the QWL plan, my longest, strictly to the letter stint was about 11 days, and I dropped about 8 in that time.
I'll be joining you too, in buckling down, as I have a couple of grad events the end of May.
Great group of supportive ladies here - good luck!

I have had great success on the QWL plan, my longest, strictly to the letter stint was about 11 days, and I dropped about 8 in that time.
I'll be joining you too, in buckling down, as I have a couple of grad events the end of May.
Great group of supportive ladies here - good luck!
Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies! Suzanne, your success was actually what drew me in! (Don't worry, I'm not a stalker. ) I have not done Stillmans before, just your normal LC stuff. We can be in this for the next couple weeks together though!

I will go check out the QWL sticky. I typically do not do well with restrictive, boring diets, but with the event so close I think I'll be able to tough it out!

I am guessing I won't get more than a few pounds off since I already lost ~7 fairly quickly. But I would be happy with just a few!

yay, it's on I've been bouncing around the low 130's past couple of weeks, my ultimate goal is 120 and I'm ok if it takes me a while to get there.
I love the deep ketosis with Stillmans, it usually takes me about 4-5 days to get there.
Jennie O turkey products and eggs are my friends, with occasional fish to break it up.
I know from the past that you have great resolve, you'll do great!

115-120 is my dream goal so we are pretty similar! Lowest I've been in recent years though was 122 (last year around this time) and I was very happy there. I clearly bounce around a bit...lol. So we'll see! I'm happy to lose slower once I get past this wedding.

Jennie O, good tip. I haven't been LC in so long.

Great work, everyone! I'm new here and really enjoying hearing everyone's success stories, and even the temporary setbacks. I appreciate a forum where we can be honest but still supported completely. I have never been comfortable talking about my weight or diet but reading everyone's posts, I feel okay about it here (thanks btw!).
I've dabbled in low carb but never made it a lifestyle because I hated the side effects and frankly, just love carbs too much. I have no experience other than mabye 2 or 3 days straight of low carb. Pitiful, I know.
I was thinking about doing Stillman's for a wedding 6/21 and I know I could lose on Stillman's but it would be SO hard for me doing the low fat part. I instead began a fat fast and this is day 4 and I haven't cheated whatsoever (I discovered it's easy when I can have fat.. and a case of severe vanity too I guess) but am only down 1 pound. Ketostix are purple since yesterday, but I only got the sticks yesterday so I don't know how long I've been in ketosis (can't be very long, right?)
My question is, has anyone tried the fat fast and how did it work? Can anyone who's tried it make a comparison as far as effectiveness or anything else? I feel so great on this fat fast but I am willing to try anything for the short term if it means I will fit into my bridesmaid dress
If no one can answer this, then let me end by saying I will continue to lurk, occasionally post and always always always be sending positive energy to all of you that you meet whatever goals you set for yourselves.
Peace <3

Annie411. I have never done a fat fast, so can't help you there. I have not used Ketostix either. Re Stillman's, I was also apprehensive about the low fat part, but have found that I adapted surprisingly well. I use a lot of ground turkey, but season it in different ways, and that helps with the perception of variety. I also feel ok with Cottage Cheese, so use that with chopped boiled eggs to make faux egg salad. I season liberally with Chipotle peppers for heat, but that's not for everyone.

I found Stillman's yielded lightening fast results as long as I stay consistently on it. With higher fat, I had a really hard time losing with any kind of momentum. Give Stills a try, you may find the results surprise you.

Good Luck !

I'm right there with ya, Kandi. I almost never experience a linear, straight downward weight loss line. Let's resolve to stick with the program, and the weight will come off eventually
