jeezidunno - it's all good, your cells are holding onto water, especially if you haven't stressed your body, by working out in a while, keep at it and your body will self regulate. I think the whole fat vs muscle thing is bunkas, you'd have to be doing heavy weight lifting for a while to build any noticable muscle weight.
Spin classes are great - I always sweat like crazy.

Kandi - so close girl

Well, I'm not weighing, I'm puffed up from pre Tom, and I don't need the scale to confirm that for me

We're coming up to the tail end of April ladies, will be great to see what our tally is- time for that final push. No matter where we end up, for sure we've lost a whole lot of poundage, that is gone, gone, gone and ending the month a lot lighter than when we started. Progress not perfection

4/20 - 178 - Grrrr... I did it to myself. I went to a hibachi place for two of my girlfriends' birthdays last night. I kept it low-carb (no rice or noodles!), but I definitely ate like a heifer. My ketone strip was still fairly dark this morning, so I know I'm still in ketosis, but I think the amount of food last night is what did it. Oh well... I'm at work today, and all I brought with me is three Atkins shakes to get me through ten hours. Probably not the best thing for my metabolism, but I think I just need to take it very easy today, and didn't really want to think about food this morning.

Oh! and I remembered I have a weigh-in tomorrow for the Army. I never, ever, make weight (my body is just not an Army body) but I always pass tape (which is the Army's totally inaccurate way of determining body fat %). I know I'll pass tape tomorrow, but I'd like to not be right on the line.

Wow what a crazy weekend, first weekend in my life that I totally stayed on plan, I am feeling good about the losses and it has really made me stay focused this time, so when I got up this morning and got on the scale I was in awe , I broke 200 and even tho I fluctuate like crazy, I'm praying that it goes lower, because of the drop this morning I didn't even cheat for Easter dinner as I always cheat on holidays and for moms cooking, but I turned down , red velvet cupcakes, cheesecake, sweet potatoes Mac and cheese ,mashed potatoes, brownies and um yea, I ate turkey, green beans and deviled eggs! I am so hoping for results in the a.m. Because I really feel that I had some serious willpower todAy and would love to see the scale give me a high five on that one!
Thanks Suzanne I so hope it stays under 2 with the way I move up and down,
Jeezidunno hang in there at least u know what u did and knowing is half the battle ...

YAY, Kandi! You did it! Don't worry, you'll be back to onederland in no time. But, doesn't it frost you, when with all that yummy food you could have had, you were 'good,' and still gained. BTDT

Yes it does i couldnt have said that better myself, actually i did say that myself yesterday , i told my hubby, if Im sacrificing all this good cooking , i better not see that scale go in the wrong direction, his response was , well if u do know that it could have been worse if u do eat it, it wont be near as bad as if u were to enduldge in it , and he made a great point for me, beacuse he knows me as well as I do, and I would have went on a binge and quit entirely for a week or better, So as bad as I want to be in Onederland, I will accept that .06 gain lol

Hi Ladies!!

I've been away for some days... My computer DIED on Thursday evening and i've taken it into the computer repair to see if we can rescue the data. So I was a bit disconnected this weekend (until this morning when I got back to work LOL). Gonna have to pick up a new computer soon though.

So! I see most people did well! This was a hard weekend for me. Three days at home, not enough water, as usual. Did more physical activity, so my muscles are sore and retaining. BUT! My food consumption was low carb. Not Stillmans, but at least low carb. Did up a real nice Easter dinner that everyone enjoyed. But just like jeezidunno, my portions were on the larger size. I am starting this week with a .2 gain from last Thursday. I'm not really upset about the number, or anything. I only realize it's lost time that's all. But it's been about 2.5 months since I started my weight loss journey, and for the first 'special' dinner, I didn't really feel deprived. I didn't have much in the house that I couldn't have myself, so I was pretty happy.

Now that THAT is over though, I'm back on track! I'm hoping to see a whoosh this week. Kandi!! I have to say, you are rocking it! Don't worry about the fluctuation. From what I see, it's just what your numbers do, but when you stay on track it will ALWAYS pop back down again.

I'll get right back on track though! Thankfully he is pretty good about doing low-carb, so I don't have to worry about him eating horrible things around me all the time.

Passed my tape this morning, as expected. I was 1% under, which is too close for comfort, but the good news is, it was my LAST tape in the Army. Woohooooo!

Afternoon Ladies - congrats on your successes, maintenance, avoiding temptations and all the other things you should be proud of

I still haven't weighed and suspect maintenance at best! But I feel good, despite TOM expected any day now.
10 days until my Vegas trip, so on my final push this week to hopefully shed a few more pounds, I feel in control and ready to buckle down this week, with none of those holidays goodies around.
Hope all have a great week

I'm getting a case of motion sickness from all this up and down. lol

So, last week was a wash. It's my own fault though. Back on board fully today. Yesterday wasn't terrible, but I did have a home made low carb brownie (i bought the mix from a low carb store in town here). I tell ya, the laxative effect of one little brownie took me by surprise. I haven't experienced stomach pain like that since before I started low carb (which in retrospect makes me doubt the reported carb count on the brownie box....).

Oh well! I have lots of left over turkey in the fridge, which I love to eat cold (always have!). And I'm sure the turkeys in the grocery are going to be on a really good sale this week, so I might pick up another one to cook again this weekend. I'll be growing feathers by the time I'm done losing weight.

Between my going-away thing tomorrow, AND my husband coming home tomorrow, it's gonna be a massive cheat day. Could I be reasonable and keep it as low-carb as possible? Sure I could. Do I intend to? No. I'm going to enjoy tomorrow and not worry about it... as I've said before, there's no way I would be able to stick to this diet without cheats here and there, and tomorrow just happens to be more of a cheat than I would normally have. I'm not worried- I'll be back on track Thursday.

Well! To say that I'm upset at myself is an understatement. I started yesterday off well, with good intentions. But I think I must have gotten kicked out of ketosis somewhere because I've been dealing with more hunger lately. I will freely admit that the last two weeks I've struggled with staying on Stills. I'd do one to two meals good and then just a general low carb meal for the other. I crave salt most of the time (low blood pressure) so have a tendency to gravitate to meat that is more seasoned or cured. Lunch and dinner yesterday were very salty, so I know I'm retaining (my rings are tight today and they normally just slip right off). Normally I don't let the scale reading dictate how I feel about my losses and set the tone for today, but honestly, I can't help it today. But really, I'll take it as my wake up call to get back serious now. I know i won't quit, but I am determined to start seeing some serious losses again very soon. I started this month off good, I want to end it good too.

Have a wonderful day with your hubby!!

My only tip would be to enjoy your food, but keep it slightly lower in carb for one reason.... Adding in a heavy carb day after being off for so long can do a real number on your digestive system (if you are susceptible). It would suck to have to explain that you have to spend lots of time in the bathroom after your meal instead of a "romantic" get together with your hubby tonight (ahem, you know what I mean... ). Kind of a mood killer...

Haha, I certainly do know what you mean! I could use a little digestive disruption though... just not tonight!

Keep your head up... I know it sucks to see the numbers go up, but these things happen. I, too, crave salty things. I think moreso than sweet things, but I think that's just the Stills changing my tastebuds (I normally have a crazy sweet-tooth).

I do have a confession though. I have mainly been doing regular low-carb as opposed to Stills. I just couldn't stick with the super boring food. I do keep my carbs under 20 each day, and I always sub ground turkey for ground beef when I cook, but... I have definitely been incorporating a lot of cream cheese. I think what I've been doing lately is actually more of an Atkins induction sort of thing, but it seems to be working. I don't feel THAT deprived, and although I do see the numbers yo-yo here and there, overall it's going pretty well.

Hi Guys, Jeezidunno, have a great reunion with your hubby
Sexyback, salt gets me every time, that'll go back down with a couple of days clean eating.

So coming up to the end of my Stills month, and I really have been pleased with my losses, even though I haven't weighed in about 10 days, my tummy is flat, even despite getting Tom yesterday, so I know I've maintained my 10lbs loss and once Tom clears out, perhaps I'll see some more movement

I do have to say, the first 10 days when I was strictly on plan, that was when most of my loss happened - it's been up and down since then, but like you all, even when it's more Atkins style eating, I'm still feeling in control and haven't blown it.
I'm glad I have Stills in my back pocket, if that makes sense? Even if I only get a good 3 days under my belt, it serves really well to debloat and cut all cravings back.

HEy Hey Hey ladies, sounds like we are all in the same boat, with our WOE, but its working for us for the most paart and thats the most important part, finding what works and sticking to it, Stillmans isnt meant for long term anyway, plus it has helped me to jumpstart, and i do tend to turn to it when needed...

Thanks so much Ladies!

It's good to know we are all doing somewhat the same thing. Sometimes I felt bad hanging out in the Stillman's thread even though I know many of us aren't "purists", especially when I suspect there are some purists lurking (hi!). But I like the group of us here, appreciate the forum to report daily, and unite in our struggles and successes! Stillmans works, yes. But it's hard! Especially when you factor in real life scenarios (kids, spouses, other obligations).

I struggle most, I believe, when I don't enjoy my food. Yes, I know, food should be used as nutrition, not entertainment, but that goes against our entire human nature. Eating has always been a social thing. So when I stop enjoying my food, I'm left feeling somewhat bereft..... Yes, I can low carb like a pro! But, like Julia Childs used to say, Fat adds flavor! I can do a few days without the fat (and salt), but then I start to feel deprived and know it isn't sustainable. I'll add some back in, enjoy it for it's own sake, then get back to losing, by jumping back on the Stillmans bandwagon. Which is where I am now.

Holidays are over, birthday is over, no more excuses! (note to self: freeze the remaining chocolate peanut butter low carb cheesecake that is sitting in my fridge so I won't be tempted LOL)

Well, I have decided not to weigh again until the 1st of May. I'm going to eat as clean as possible until that time. Normally I don't have an issue with daily weighing, but I want to wait until I am pretty sure the number will be more "respectable" LOL. So I have one week to wait to see some results.
Oh! I'm also starting at the gym again for the month of May. Figure 3-4 times a week will be good. I really go for the steam room, but I have to put in a decent work out before I will allow myself

Kandi - looks like you are getting firmly planted in Onderland

Sexyback - I am not a daily weigher at all and it really helps me not get so upset with the ups and downs.

Speaking of which, I felt thinner this morning, Tom is on its way out so…

3/29 - 140
3/30 - 139
3/31 - 136
4/1 - no weigh
4/5 - 133
4/12 - 131
4/14 - 130
4/24 -127

Slow and steady wins the race, just so thrilled!
