I had some chicken for bfast today and some cottage cheese (I know, but hell, I wasn't losing anyways!) I think i'm gonna break the monotony by eating eggs for the rest of the day. I have a lunch meeting (ok, I'm totally lying, I'm getting my nails done at lunch..lol!!) so I won't have time to eat lunch today which is fine. I'll have some eggs around 2 and I think you guys are right on. I'm going to decrease the amount of meat I eat in a sitting. that's the one real thing that I keep seeing on your menus that is just totally opposite of mine is that I look at them and think WOW they ate like NOTHING! But I also realise that I'm not hungry either.

So anyways...We will see. This weekend will be a bust bc I'm going out of town and will be eating things I don't typically eat. (I promised myself for MONTHS that i would not stress about food while I'm gone for two days) I've been doing stills to try and drop some before I leave so that I have some wiggle room but the anxiety of eating while I'm away is worse than the stress of trying to stay on plan. I've been doing LC for so long that eating off plan is more uncomfortable than a "diet" at this point. So I'm just going to try to go with it and not stress. No stress. No STRESSSSSS

Good morning everyone! I woke up today with a 0.6lb loss! So, I've lost 3.7lbs since starting on March 1st! I'm hoping to at least get to a 5-6lb loss by Saturday morning. I'd love to be in the 160's by Sunday!

MARCH CHALLENGE
Day 1: 176.4lbs
Day 2: 176lbs
Day 3: 174.5lbs
Day 4: 173.3lbs
Day 5: 172.7lbs

I'm seeing signs of TOM so I think that is why the losses are low. That, or because I couldn't manage to get over 900 calories yesterday. So, today I am eating a little more fat and calories to see if my weight loss increases tomorrow morning.

Mine range anywhere between 40 and 50g.
I actually just started tracking my macros online and have noticed better losses with more fat.

On a very lean day, I'm about 850 calories, 25 grams of fat, and 150 grams protein. On a other days I'm 1200 calories, 60 grams of fat, 134 grams of protein. I much prefer the 1200 calorie day because I do work out, and losses are better the following day. I think the added fat does help at times (and the food is tastier!) so if anything, I try and alternate my high/low days so that I don't stall or eat too little. I do like having extra lean days to confuse the body, so I'll keep doing this and see if it keeps working for me.

About potassium, one way I get it in is by using NuSalt. I take a cup of Rachel Ray's Low Sodium Chicken Broth (0 carb!) and just add a ton of NuSalt in. Great for leg cramps! Also, I supplement with magnesium and soak in Epsom Salt. I've heard those help with leg cramps also. Once I started soaking in Epsom Salt in addition to all of this, I never have a problem!

Hi, I've been looking at the stillman diet for over a week and the book will arrive by the end of the week! I was wanting to join your group if I can. Need all the support that I can get. Am nervous to start cause I know that it's gonna be hard. I live w someone who doesn't understand and who can eat just about anything. BUT I'm in need of this. At work we are doing a biggest loser contest and I'd love to be the winner! Can't wait to start - Saturday march 8. The research here is awesome

Welcome newcomers!!

GriffinKnits: It's funny you should mention a work biggest loser challenge! I was just thinking of starting one in my office too. Everyone seems to be on a weight loss journey here, so it would make sense. Good luck on yours! I'm sure you could give them all a run for their money doing Stillmans!

Youdontknowme. Hey doll I'm going to call u YDKM for brevity sake. Here's the dealio about working out! It's not as simple as we think! Our bodies are RULED by hormones! Our metabolic rate is predicated on our TSH Thyroid hormones, if we are constantly putting our bodies in a state o stress sub that we are continually pumping Cortisol and other weight loss inhibiting hormones into our system we are just bashing our heads against the wall!

I want to encourage you that you do not need to kill urself w working out actually I will go as far as to say that you may be hindering the flow of how this diet works! Keep a laser focus on the food alone. Try not to "Help it out" w added stressed on my body! When we LC this extreme our bodies are already working so hard having to make new "glucose" from our dietary protein and our body fat for fuel! This process is called Gluconeogenesis and this is what Dr A called "the dietary advantage" as it takes close to 300 calories a day to be ketones into glucose! Sounds intense but the biochemistry is where this diet works!

I suggest you stop for three days eat only hyper low low fat meats and nothing else! This diet will get the at off lightning fast if u work the plan exactly! Once your hormones mellow out ur blood sugar will be even and u will be able to lose massive wt! Pls trust my advice! Ur added work outs are not allowing ur body to rap into the fat cells as Cortisol prohibits Glucagon and increase Insulin and epinephrine!

Sorry to be so techie but the biology of his diet is never explained and we are left in the dark bashin our heads agAinst the wall as we are seeing no results!!

Hugs

Everyone is doing great! I've been doing a protein shake for breakfast, then Stills the rest of the day. I have not get ventured on the scale (plus, TOM is here) but I can tell I've lost a ton of water weight at the very least!! Feeling good.

Quote:
I workout everyday doing T25 (I'm in alpha week 3)
As somebody who loves T25, and also loves Stills, I hate to say but I am not sure if the 2 of them go hand-in-hand? It's such an intense workout, and the calories on Stills are so low that you might be *sabotaging* your results.

I wouldn't say to stop working out, but maybe scale things back? Stick to lower-intensity things like walking, yoga, pilates? Just throwing some things out there! Good luck and keep us posted.

eta: LOL -- I did not read BBare's response before I wrote mine, but I see we are on same page!! ^5!!

couple things:

Hormones: Idk what the freak happened yesterday afternoon but I'll tell you this, i flipped the hell out on my 7 year old over a slice of pie and a jar of PB (long STUPID story). Like I went psycho mom on him. I *scared* him. I yelled and literally THREW the pb AT the trash can. He cried. I cried. We hugged and loved and I said sorry and felt like a piece of crap mom the rest of the night. I'm tellin you, I lost it. I know you "don't know me" hahaha BUT i am so super mellow. I just don't do that. Probably why it scared my kiddo! So while I hadn't thought of hormones (since it's not TOM), I do beleive something weird is happening.

and the other thing is I'm always LC. My Blood sugar is spot on and being diabetic at one time pre weight loss at 300 pounds, that is stellar for me. If I cheat, it's with SF candy or sweet potatoes.

Now that you are throughly confused...lol. I have to say that I DO lose well on saturdays and I skip the workout on Fridays. sooooooooo....

Alright, so now that I have totally screwed over my workouts that I am DEDICATED to doing for the first time in years, I guess I'm gonna stop. Or maybe I'll just do some weights and squats/lunges ext. What do you think about that? If I had balls I'd post my "before t25" pics so that you could see how badly I need toned. Like, bad. lol

Also, I should say that I think I have a really good handle on the role insulin plays in all this LC weight loss stuff. But that lil cortisol thing (along with leptin) keep me scratching my head. I can't get it straightened out!

Just got back home from running errands all day and just want to say:

What a FANTASTIC group of folks all of you are!

I've never felt so encouraged, supported or instructed...

Thanks for everyone's input and BBare, you just plain ROCK sistah

And welcome, welcome, welcome to all the newbies and let me just tell you that when you have an issue or question, these ladies are literal fountains of knowledge and are sooooo helpful....it truly makes a big difference!

Okay now that we're all simpatico and junk, hahaha, I've had to tinker with today's projected menu a little by scrapping the lunch plan by going and buying some low sodium chicken broth, thanks so much for the tip ladies

So far no leg cramps today so yes I'm certain y'all were spot on, I wasn't getting enough sodium...

Oh and I gave my DH one of the "fat bombs" and he said he liked it better than a Reese's peanut butter cup...hahaha...imagine that

This is a great WOE for diabetics.

Cramps? I believe Dr. S insisted on a multivitamin every day. We used to have to remind each other

Today I was SO hungry! I dont know what my deal is - I just ended TOM so no cravings but my stomach has been grooooowling. So odd - I have had only 1 or 2 other days like this. I didnt have any cheats but ate too many calories I am sure. Boo. I ate breakfast pretty early compared to most days, so maybe that was it. I dont know. Maybe I am over thinking! Anyways, is about 6pm and I am not going to have anything else for the rest of the night. Kitchen is closed! lol

Good morning everyone! I woke up this morning to a loss of 0.8lbs! It's awesome not having any feelings of hunger or cravings, even with TOM here! But, I wish my sleep was better.

MARCH CHALLENGE
Day 1: 176.4lbs
Day 2: 176lbs
Day 3: 174.5lbs
Day 4: 173.3lbs
Day 5: 172.7lbs
Day 6: 171.9lbs

Only 2lbs more and I'll be in the 160's! I haven't been in the 160's since the Spring of 2011. I'd love to see the 150's, or even be at 150lbs, by April 21 - my birthday!

IWMTW, you might be sleeping less because when you ditch carbs you are healthier and have more energy. Dunno, just sayin'

Gotta cook up soome food, nothing made up leads to bad things.

Someone mentioned using greek yogurt to make tuna salad. Someone awhile back was doing tuna and cottage cheese, so I may try that today.

Keep strong all, have a great day!!!!!!!!
