I was at goal, 127 lbs. in 2010. Overall, I don't find it harder to lose it is just that I fall off the wagon! I am now 52 though and have noticed that I don't lose belly fat as easily. Cool that we are so similar in stats!

I hear ya, it's def harder when we get older. I am gonna be 40 in 2 weeks and it's kinda freakin me out....I keep reading all these horror stories about metabolism stopping at 40 lol. Have you noticed a change at all after 40? My daughter who is 23 says mom you better watch out for the big 40.

Yeah the belly fat has always been an issue for me as I have 4 kids ages 24,23,21, and 14. So I'm not sure it will evr go away completely. Not hvin anymore though. I had my doc spit on,step on, and throw my tubes to the curb (tubal ligation) lol.

Because we r so similar in stats I have to ask.....where do you buy pants to fit us short people? It's so hard to talk to someone who is my height....they r hard to find. Usually most shorter women are at least 5'4" or taller. It's alost like I need to shop in the kids section to accommodate my height but my weight doesn't allow it. I live in colorao springs, CO and their doesn't seem to be any petite stores? It has been a lifelong struggle!

The biggest change is that when I was younger I could lose simply by cutting calories and exercising. Now, I have to eat low carb to lose any significant belly fat. I also had to do run/walk intervals to get the last of the belly fat off when I was at goal in 2010.

Do you think that exercise slows or hinders your weight loss at all? Think I have read that for some people that is the case.

I think exercise helped me lose the last of the belly fat. But do we ever really know for sure? Could have been that my body just so happened to let go of it on it's own. Exercise keeps me mentally sane! It can work both ways for me though, it can kill my appetite or distract me from cravings for carbs, but also if I under-eat and do too much exercise my appetite will ramp up, that may be fatigue though from the low calories. I hesitate to make absolute judgements because there are always so many variables.

Yes I did low carb for about 9 months. I went from 226 to my lowest weight of 142. My prob is is that I am a die hard carb addict and I have found that, Like any addiction, one is too many and a thousand isn't enough. I was miserable because even on less than 20 carbs a day, eating any cabs made me crave them horribly. I was miserable! So for me I have to have none. Not sure what I'm gonna do when I get to goal. I don't know if I can be carb free forever. It terrifies me though.
I was also working out 2-3 hours a day when I did lose all that weight so I am thinkin of starting to work out again. I know I will have to up my calories if I do start to work out. I also had a pretty physically active job at the time. Right now I am pretty sedentary as my job is EBAY!
I am thinking of starting to do yoga as a start. I know what you mean about it keeping you sane. I feel the same way about exercise. I am hoping my husband buys me a treadmill for my birthday. I love to walk and I hate the cold. It's pretty cold here in Colorado. I use to walk outside a lot before I moved here 4 months ago from Oregon.

What brand of jeans do you buy/wear? I am not picky at all! I can find I guess what you would call old lady jeans anywhere that fit me? I'll start a thread in the challenges section if you want to post with me I can't go low fat like stillman's I get too cranky! But similiar to what you are doing with a few more calories would suit me for a while.

I'm having some of the same challenges I see talked about here--dh has intensified his saboteur behaviors as he's seen my recent success in dropping weight fast by doing low carb/low fat. Grrr. He doesn't do well with changes, and lord knows I've been thru the weight and food plans over the years

Anyway, hope its ok to stop in and visit now and then.

Hi, Of course It's good to pop in here now and again. Sometimes this woe, and probably most of the time is just a boast to get you going. Tell me more of your saboteur husbands behaviors, that's is interesting If you don't mind

It is usually too cold here in Maryland as well to walk consistently but I have found Leslie Sansone dvd's to be a pretty good workout. The dvd idea is based on indoor walking, but it is really more like low impact aerobics.

Hi It'stime, dh and I have been together for 17 years and when I first met him, I had just come off a year of losing 90lbs. He has a serious weight problem himself and we unfortunately became eating buddies and I put 70 lbs back on within months because of going out to eat often in the SF Bay Area, checking out all his favorite restaurants he wanted to share with me. Over the years we have both yo-yo'd up and down the scale. He was able to lose over 100 lbs and is currently doing a medically supervised weight loss plan thru our HMO.

So you see, there is a lot of history and psychology for a backdrop haha! When I got serious with a new plan after the first of the year, I found him continually offering me foods not on plan even after I had explained to him several times I was eating differently now. And when grocery shopping together, he kept trying to put things in the cart I'm not eating right now. Besides learning a new woe myself, I have also been educating him and setting limits with him trying to feed me. He likes to cook and adds extra oil and salt that I'm trying to avoid. So nothing too entirely dreadful. It has actually served to firm up my own resolve to stay strong.

So that's probably all more than u wanted to know lol.

I think you have a good plan to rotate Stillman's with others. I get hungry for veggies is why I like Dukan--enough variety to keep me going for the long haul

Sue
