Nobody is perfect! I know I'm not, lol. I have a higher carb Atkins type meal about once every 5-6 days. Let's just say that I love how dreamfields doesn't kick me out of ketosis! I think I'd be amazed if someone stuck to this WOE long term and didn't go off plan at least once.

My tom started today, which means cravings and bloat. But the plus side is, I will be able to do a full month with no worries about it. Can't wait to start. I plan on Stillman's six days and atkins one day. I know that is the only way for me to go. I can do anything for 6 days. I know fat is not allowed but I am thinking of a little mct oil. I have heard nothing but good things about it. I love the dog pictures. I lost my girl 2 1/2 years ago to cancer at the young age of 6. We are just now looking for a replacement.

Hey peeps!
I to started TOM today. So glad this is not day 1 of our plans!

Love all the comments on our fur babies. I love them all. I miss cats but with Bella, she plays too rough.

So everyone, it appears we all have given it some thought on how we will manage this coming month. Not perfection but PROGRESS. Lets us keep that in mind. I think most of us are going to do 80% of Stillman's with a little of this and that as it gets uber boring.

No matter what...post! Lets just do it. Even if we make mistakes, lets just get back on board and post and talk it out.

Like I said before, I am not a big scale watcher anymore. Spent years doing that. My goal is to fit into a smaller pair of jeans....and be happy with how it goes. After Sept...come October...I will cycle it all out again. I will do this till I get to my goal before Thanksgiving.

I also found out yesterday that my DD who is in Germany with my GD and her husband, are getting re-stationed to Washington! And they are coming here Thanksgiving to celebrate my 50th birthday, Thanksgiving and DD's first birthday! All in the same week! haha. I plan on being at my goal if minus 15.

Who is interested in a walking challenge as well? Nothing too over the top. You could even break it into pieces, 3 times a day, 10 minutes a wack! I have been a walker for years. I listen to my iPod and it helps. Set your own reasonable goal and hit it!

And we need to talk about cheats and emotional eating...what will you do if you cheat/go off/mess up....what choice will you make?

I know someone mentioned the Thin Commandments on another thread. You can listen to it on itunes. It costs but its worth it. I actually like the book so I can underline and high light.

A couple of good nuggets;
When you eat off plan...Do not say "oh well may as well keep going,I all ready blew it" Do not do it! And make the next meal, the right meal. And also make sure you are actually hungry. If you stop yourself in your own tracks and do not keep on going, you will not keep the viscous cycle going.

baby talk...I deserve this. UGH, don't we all do that? I have been good, I deserve this chocolate bar. Really? Are we 3? lol (tough love)

But! I cannot live with out(blank)..again, baby talk. We must pull on our big girl panties and make the right choice.

I could go on and on. These little nuggets really help you to be aware. Do they fix you? No, but the more you learn about emotional eating...the more you can change the course of your pattern.

I know for myself I can be the queen of denial. Oh this bite won't hurt me. But one bite turns to the whole package, etc, etc.

What else can we talk about? We covered grocery list, supplements, rotating the plans to avoid torturous boredom ( haha), exercise.

What else is a road block? Obsessive scale watching?

I say all this with love to help us succeed

Hi
I would love to join in. Have a ton of weight to lose and this will give me the right start. Have a big event in October. Having carbs just make me want to have more so hopefully this will prevent me from bingeing.

Has anyone here actually reached the weight Dr. Stillman recommends for your height? I'm 5'2.5 exactly. He says I should be around 110. Idk about that! I feel like I'd have to remove organs to get that low! I'm thinking 115 if I'm lucky! I lost about 40 lbs on Atkins and working on these last 15 lbs.

Hey everyonei may join for september. I have been reading on this and maybe it swhat i need to jump start me into losing. I have gained about 15lbs the last 2 yrs after going primal!!! I have just been eating too many "good" carbs. My body just cant do it. I'm also premenopausal so im having all of that to deal with. I started back really low carb about 2 wks ago doing high fat, moderate protein, low carb. I lost 2 lbs initially and then i havent lost anything. I'm very frustrated. Im in ketosis i know that from doing atkins for so many years. I lost over 100lbs 8 yrs ago and have kept it off but the last couple years, turning 40!!, i have put some back on.

I have a question. With this being pretty low calorie and low fat, should i stop working out so hard and so much? I usually run 3 or 4 days per week, kickboxing 1 day and lifting weights 1 or 2 days per week. My lifting weights and kickboxing days i am usually hungrier than my running days. Just wondering if i should just do cardio and keep it light while eating this way. I dont want to lose the muscle i have gained but i would hope eating so much protein i wouldnt lose much muscle.
What kind of workouts do you guys do?
I'm looking forward to joining and seeing how this might work for me!! Something has to give. I gotta get my body to budge a little!!

So if im reading this right. We can basically eat lean meats, eggs and cottage cheese. I guess non fat greek yogurt would work instead. I prefer that. And then we can have some salad or veggies if we want to once per day. Maybe just some lettuce to make a salad in the evening.
I think i like the idea of doing an atkins day once per week allowing more fatty meats and more veggies.
I think i will start with you guys on Tuesday. It seems doable.
another question. How many calories are you gusy eating?

Doesnt seem like very many.
Would 2 eggs cooked with a little chicken be ok for breakfast?
Then chicken or turkey burger for lunch with a boiled egg.
Hamburger patty for dinner?
Snack of 1/2 cup greek yogurt?

I love your dog too. Loving all the pitbull love ... I get so angry at the prejudice against the breed.

You can tweak Still however you deem necessary. The "official" rules for the quick weight loss diet are:

Quote:
1. LEAN MEATS, with all possible fat trimmed off. Includes beef,
lamb, veal. Eat it broiled, boiled, OR baked. No butter,
margarine, oil or other fats are to be used either in
the cooking or the eating.

2. CHICKEN AND TURKEY with all skin removed. Broiled, boiled
or roasted, with no butter, margarine, oil or other fats.

3. ALL LEAN FISH & SEAFOOD No butter, margarine, oil or other fats permitted in
preparation or serving. You may have cocktail sauce, horseradish,
ketchup-in moderation.

4. EGGS. Hard boiled preferably. Also soft or medium boiled eggs,
poached, or any type of fried eggs made in non-fat, non-stick pans
without butter, margarine, oil or other fats.

5. COTTAGE CHEESE, FARMER CHEESE, POT CHEESE made
with skim milk and no whole milk.

6. AT LEAST 8 GLASSES OF WATER PER DAY, absolutely essential
(10 ounce glasses). As much as you want of coffee and tea without
cream, milk or sugar. You may sweeten with non-caloric sweeteners
to taste. Enjoy all the club soda, vichy and non-caloric carbonated
beverages you wish, as often as desired.

You may use common seasonings such as salt, pepper, spices,
other herbs, cocktail sauce, horseradish, ketchup. Don't use any creamy or oily sauces
or dressings. No mayonnaise, no salad dressings, no oils, no fats.

NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED-IF IT’S NOT LISTED HERE, DON’T EAT IT OR DRINK IT!
I work out alot too... things like TurboFire/TurboJam, HIIT, P90X, etc. I've scaled back on intensity and duration when I've done Stills in the past b/c I did not quite have the energy to do as much... I mostly stuck to walking videos.

It depends which plan you're on. I think most of us do the QWL so no veggies. But, it usually means faster losses.

Most of the time! lol We just got out of the puppy stage with the pit. He would chew up the weirdest things. Door frames etc... They are a lot of work. Almost as much as my kids. They are spoiled rotten house dogs. Love them to death.
How sad four you to lose one at such a young age.

I have 2 of those also! lol The dogs want to play with them so bad but the cats want nothing to do with them. Poor things don't know what to do when the dogs sniff them for what seems like eternity.

TOM for everyone! I do not have a uterus anymore but I still get the mood swings, bloat, heart palpitations, and sore breast! It has been a rough few days.
I will have to get the book. Sounds like a good motivator. How fun to have your family coming back! We live 12 hours away from family. I could not imagine another country.

I would do a walk challenge also. I think I can manage walking a few times a day.

I walk on my treadmill and that is about it. I have not tried anything harder but I know some of the girls in the past were doing some pretty intensive workouts. Try your routine out and if you seem too tired back off a bit until it is comfortable.
My calories in the past were always lower than 1,000. Usually around the 700s. When it got hard would just give myself a high fat day with some cheese and bacon. Or a tuna salad. Made me feel like I was off plan without throwing myself out of ketosis.

Welcome to the new comers. I hope we get a lot of them.

And love, love, love the other blue pitty! So cute! Love the pink color against the gray.

Busy day with family so I am just driving by to say hi.

And as far as Stillman's weight loss chart, I did get to what was suggested once using the HCG diet but no way could I hold it. I am almost 50 and my body is not what it used to be. I will be happy at 150ish at this point! I just think his chart is too low for me.

Oh I have to share.... I'm so excited I found a new food!

Yesterday I picked up a package of Jennie-o turkey breast tenderloins. There are a few varieties but I can only eat the "all natural" kind. It has almost zero carbs and is very low in fat. Just put it in the oven for an hour and that's it! It is marinated in the package. The only downfall is that its a bit high in sodium, but occasionally I don't think it'll be a problem. And, its a nice change from everything else I've been eating!

Me and my bf bought bikes today!!!! We went on a 4 mile bike ride!!!!We work so much....and never do anything for our health...and now we did. Right before my Stillmans. I haven't sweated this much since I did construction. And when I did construction, I lost 40 pounds without changing a damn thing in my diet. Course I was also going through a divorce while working with my ex (we owned a business together)........This should be a good month for weight loss.

Hey Gals!

I TOO STARTED TOM right along with you all. How funny! But, this time around, I wasn't a puffy carb monster bitting off heads and such! IF ONLY I COULD BE IN KETOSIS FOR THE REST OF MY BEING! Oh, the joy!!!

I started back to school. I'm going for my BSN. It's great to be sooo busy and distracted while my body "eats this fat suit off my bones!" I stole this one from Idio. Who btw is my hero! WTG, IDIO!

Happy Mem Weekend. Be safe, be at peace and be LOW CARB LOW FAT!

Hugs,
Beth

baby talk...I deserve this.

Keep on Keeping on! Glad you get to have your family around you. Hope your birthday is wondrous and lots of fun and losing on the holidays. Don't ya just feel the luv here then? Mae

I went grocery shopping last night to get ready for the week. I got some ground beef and a couple ribeyes. I'm going to try all beef this week. Some people have posted in the general threads that they loose better when they eat beef. It's higher fat than stillmans but I'm also not going to go out of my way to add fat like with M&E and I want to drop my delicious high fat coffees this week too. We'll see how that goes. lol

I am sorry

The one thing I could suggest is to read, read, read about emotional eating. Learn the ques, and the patterns and how people manage them. Little steps to act on when you are in that moment. I think it starts with an awareness and then an action. It is not easy, I know but it is possible to make progress.

I am all ready - starting tomorrow!!

Hubby is going to do Atkins

Welcome to all the new posters.

Question; do we all post here or create a new thread for Sept?

WOE: Low-Carb Something of Another...
i've been off plan for a bit, but i'm excited to resume tomorrow (if not Tuesday). i find it easier to stay on track when I'm at work. I didn't do as much damage as i thought since it was my bday weekend. I barely at at both outings and I didn't even have my MUST HAVE ice cream cake or big Italian dinner...i'm very proud of myself i have a dinner wednesday night, but I already checked out the menu and i'll be having an omelet Another dinner planned for Saturday will be Brazilian which is all meat so minus the tons of salt that'll be low carb as well.

Mae i missed you too...i'll be back to stalking you in the am I'm probably going to stick with M+E style Dukan. i'm doing a round of Insanity with my coworkers starting next Monay and it should be interesting I hope everyone is having a fab holiday weekend.

Here's a few pics of my fur baby/cuddle monster, lol.

Welcome Everyone! My weight went up a little bit over the weekend. I think the culprit might be Frank's buffalo hot sauce on some grilled chicken. Lots of sodium?

I had my scheduled Atkins day yesterday, and really enjoyed my salad with dinner (I can't remember the last time I said that!). I may have to have another Atkins day this Wednesday because I have a business lunch at a restaurant. We'll see. What does everyone do in these circumstances?

8/26 - 209
8/27 - 208
8/28 - 206
8/29 - 204.5
8/30 - 203.5
8/31 - 204.5
9/01 - 205
9/02 - 203

I always plan a LC/Atkins day if I'm going out so i don't give myself too much of a headache. depending on the place i'll usually opt for an omelet or if it's a bar I'll have the buffalo wings (not breaded).
