Aiming For Weight Loss in April

Hope you like that title! LOL.

Officially I am starting on Sunday the 7th. I just got a deal on Wag Jag - 4 KG of boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $34 and, if enough people buy, I will be also picking up 5 kg of turkey burgers for $40! I also have a freezer partially filled with meat - I am all set!

BCG: Thanks for starting this thread. I'm copying and pasting my post from March's thread, as it really belongs here.

Here's what I'm eating today on Stills Day 1:

B: 3 eggs scrambled with 1/2c turkey sausage crumbles, 1/2T reduced-fat parm, blackberry-pomegranate tea
S: 1 HB egg, 70g of grilled chicken
L: approx. 4oz of cold rotiss chicken w/ spicy brown mustard
D: undecided

Also, had a large glass of sugar free half & half this afternoon. I'm having a diet cherry Pepsi later. I do love my diet soda, but I'm cutting down big time to a MAX of one 12-oz can a day at the most.

I am not counting calories, per se, but I am tracking everything just to see where my numbers are landing. Coming from JUDDD, I am very used to counting the cals. I am a little concerned that Stills is gonna reduce my appetite so much that I eat very lo-cal every day. It's not the eating lo-cal that is concerning, because <500-cal days don't scare me since that's how I eat every other day on JUDDD, it's the eating 500 (or 800) calories every day, day after day, that worries me. My plan is to track where my calories fall for several days (a week?) and then consider if I want to start alternate my calorie levels from day to day. I dunno...I'm new at this, lol!

Anyhoo, if anyone has thoughts, questions, or suggestions about anything I'm posting in my menus, please feel free to let me know. I do have one question for all of you:

I was reading in a past thread that green tea really makes you drop the water. I'm interested in this, especially since I happen to have just picked up a box of tea packets (the ones you add to your glass of water) the other day. I'm not much of a tea drinker, but this stuff is hella tasty! It's Lipton Blackberry Pomegranate Tea w/ Honey. Now, I know I shouldn't be having honey on Stills, but it's part of the drink packet - I'm not adding it myself. The packet lists sugars at 0.5. Right now, my plan is to only drink them in the morning, so my body can actively work off the little sugar that's in it. I'm wondering, though, if I'm going to have to drop it once this box is gone? Anyone have some thoughts on this?

You go, Turandot!! I would be ecstatic to lose that this month!!

I'm updating my menu, as I've had my dinner. I had a can of tuna mixed with 1/2c of low-fat cottage cheese. It was meh. So I thawed a bunch of shrimp and had them with a tiny smattering of cocktail sauce. My calories for the day (because I know you're all dying to hear) come in at 915 with 12 carbs. After the carbfest that was Easter yesterday, I'm totally pleased with today's numbers.

Question for those of you that eat canned tuna...how to you prepare it? I was not overly impressed with my tuna-cottage cheese mix. I have some non-fat Greek yogurt I could try instead of the cottage cheese, but IDK... Anyone have some inspiration for me?

Oh man that video was just amazing! And what an inspiration!

Here's my question from the other thread I need an answer for: I'm already taking a multivitamin, do I need to take an additional mineral supplement like the QWL instructions say to?

Oh and thanks for the answer about grilling my chicken breasts on my George Foreman grill

M22boys: sadly I just drained my can of tuna today and ate it plain with a fork so I'll be waiting to see if anyone else answers your question b/c I too could use an idea to make it a bit more palatable

And did I mention I can't seem to copy and paste my menu from today over here? Am I doing it wrong or do I just have to type out the whole darn thing again?

Thanks y'all...I'm really all-in this time and understand how important it is to have the support and encouragement from others

I'm trying to think ahead to tomorrow morning...I'm thinking maybe some ham and eggs for brekkie. I made a lovely spiral ham the day before Easter, and there's a ton of it in my fridge to be eaten. I might just fry a couple of small slices up and have a couple of eggs over easy to go with.

I'm also considering heading to the grocery store every other day just to get a rotiss chicken. I love that stuff so much, and for $5 I can eat off of it for 2 days. No skin, a little spicy brown mustard, hot or cold it doesn't matter.

I know, I'm just rambling here...I like to think out loud. Please don't shun me. (I'm staying, anyway. )

binge binge binge ... sigh*
after the last weigh in I went berserk! haha! I was living on carbs for the whole weekend. Sweets, chocolate, fruits and juice, bread, you name it!
Now I'm starting April at 142.6 and with no regrets at all .
My goal is to go on semi-hardcore stills till April 9th (my birthday) lets see how much weight i will lose this week

my plan for the week (that I really hope to follow)
-3 HB eggs with Tabasco sauce for breakfast + green tea
-can of tuna with Tabasco sauce and mustard (or anything with low/zero carbs to make it taste better) + Herbal tea
-Turkey pepperoni (I'll aim for less than 6 pieces) and cottage cheese (2 Tsp) for a snack, or another HB egg
-Burger, or chicken breast, or HB eggs for dinner ( depends on how hungry I am)
-8 to 10 glasses of water (10 oz) throughout the day

as for exercise: 1 hour walk/run + 1 hour stretching 5-6 days a week

sounds like a good plan if i can stick to it this time

Starting Day 2...feeling motivated and ready to lose!

Oh and I'm keeping a notebook of what I'm eating and yesterday's total caloric intake totaled 490 calories plus 96 ounces of water. Should I make an effort to eat more?

Good Tuesday morning! Sorry I was MIA - Holy week is very busy for me and yesterday I was exhausted. I had a meeting and choir practice but I really just wanted to sit on my couch and be lazy!

Tuna - try mixing it with mustard. It is really good! Also try buying the packs of tuna that are flavored and mixing in one pace with a can of tuna.

April will be the month I re-lose what I've gained, and then lose a bit more! I hope to be able to drop 15 this month. 20 is my dream, but at this point I'll be very pleased with 15!

The first week of the month is hard for me - not staying on plan wise, but navigating through meetings that involve meals. Tomorrow I have a meeting at a home and the meal is prepared. It is gluten free, but not necessarily low carb. I eat what I'm served, but I won't eat dessert, which likely will be some type of sorbet. Then on Thursday I have a breakfast meeting and a dinner meeting, both at restaurants. I will order on plan food, but sodium levels are hard to judge. Plus this evening I'm taking a young man to dinner who wants to talk with me. But after the first week of the month, most of my meals will be at home!

Morning all! I must admit up front that I am a daily weigher. No doubt about it...gotta get on that scale everyday. That said, I am thrilled with my weight this morning...down 3.8 pounds. Oh Stillman's, how I love thee. I am ready to take on Day 2! Woop!

FP: I'm glad you're feeling so good about your first day, too. We are going to totally rock this!! As for your calories, I tend to look at calorie intake through my JUDDD glasses. I think 490 is fine, but I would not keep them that low for many days in a row. IMO, you need to shake your body up a little and keep it guessing as far as cals are concerned. You don't want your body to get used to surviving on that many cals per day, unless you want to eat 500 calories a day for the rest of your life, KWIM? I would try to really up your cals every couple of days or so. (And by "really up them" I mean get them up over 1000.) But that's just my opinion.

Mim: Hi! Thanks for the tip about tuna...I'm not a huge yellow mustard fan, but I do like the spicy brown kind alright. I may have to try that. Mixing it with the cottage cheese was not awesome.

Turandot: OMGosh! I want to shoot for 20, too! My 3.8 pound overnight loss makes me almost think it's possible. But for right now, this 2 in front of my weight must go!!

We're on spring break here, so I slept in a little this morning. I'm about to pop in the shower and then make my ham and eggs for brekkie. After that I'm taking my older DS to the mall to buy some new clothes. Sheesh, they outgrow things so fast! He'll likely want to make a pitstop for lunch. Not sure how I feel about it, though. I suppose I could have a plain burger or piece of chicken...but I'd rather swing into the grocery store and pick up a rotisserie chicken and head home with it. We can pick up something for him "to-go" and then eat lunch together at home. We'll see how it plays out.

So, have a great day! I'll be back later to check in and post my menu. Cheers!

Coming back to post my menu...

B: 1 HB egg white, 2 eggs over easy, 3.5oz of ham, 1.5oz turkey kielbasa, tea
L: X
S: Zero carb Jones Soda, 1 HB egg, 3oz rotiss chicken
D: ...DH invited friends over at the last minute and he is marinating chicken breasts in honey mustard marinade. <sigh> Not sure what I'm gonna do. I prolly just have the chicken and pass on the roasted veggies and salad.

At the store today I picked up a box of pomegranate berry green tea bags. I'm planning to experiment tonight making this tea that Dr. Oz highlighted one day on his show. Green tea has many health benefits, from what I read, and this recipe seems Stills-friendly. Hopefully I like it. Basically, you brew a large pitcher of green tea from bags, then add mint leaves, sliced tangerines, and sweetener. Let it chill over night so the flavors blend. Wah-lah! I am adding orange slices because there were no tangerines to be had at the store, and I am planning to use some Splenda (I have a ton of Splenda Quick Packs that I hoarded when they were being discontinued a couple of years ago). I'm not going to eat any of the orange slices, so I'm hoping that will be ok. Fingers crossed that I like this stuff, as I'm generally not much of a tea gal.

The other thing I found at the store today was horseradish mustard. Sounds good!! Can't wait to try it on my chicken!

How's everyone else doing today?

I bought a huge bunch of parsley Saturday and caved today, I made tabboule salad.....It's about 80 percent veggies and 20 percent bulgur wheat so I'm hoping it won't set me back too badly...........but DANG that stuff is good

I am in desperate need of your help. Every year I make cookies for my annual appointment with my MS specialist and the nurses at the MS Clinic. Last year, I think I made tofu cookies but this year they are getting protein cookies made with chickpeas, protein powder, flax and other good stuff!

My problem is that the recipe calls for agave and agave is so good that I use it when its here - I think it is just as addictive as processed sugar. I have powdered Splenda but does anyone know what measurements I would use? The recipe calls for 1/4 cup and 2 TBSP of agave

Thanks for your help.

Hey I need to ask another question...I'm doing the QWL diet and I wasn't really thinking and ate a leg (skinless) of a rotisserie chicken I bought for my husband at the grocery store. Are rotisserie chickens allowed if you remove the skin and they're the "traditional" and not lemon pepper or bbq?

This what I ate today....

B---8oz. of black decaf coffee
1 stick of string cheese
8oz. of water

S---1 HB egg
8oz. water

L---1 SF cup of straw. gelatin
1 4oz. cup of Turkey Hill diet green tea
1 stick of string cheese

S---1 HB egg
4oz. water

D---6oz. steamed snowcrab legs
5oz. skinless "traditional" rotisserie chicken
4oz. water

I would LOVE to lose 15-20 this month as I said. I need to step up my exercise!! I would be THRILLED to end April at 260 or less! I have to admit that I feel odd being the heaviest in the group! I won't weigh in next week since I am having my cheat on Saturday. Then I won't do it again until May (HOPEFULLY)!!

My menu today

B 3 eggs with 1/4 cup Queso Blanco cheese (a soft cheese that another person on the forum suggested it because I HATE COTTAGE CHEESE)
1 Liter of water

L 1 chicken breast 1/4 cup cheese

1 liter of water

D SAME AS LUNCH

1 Liter of water.

I am not quite at goal yet just close enough to get lazy about my eating haha

I forgot that you need to lose 3-5 lbs below goal so when you start eating veggies again the fiber in them makes you gain water weight.

Hi guys! I was on this forum off and on during 2011-2012 and it has been nearly a year since my last round. I successfully lost weight on Stillman's and I'm back to do it again. I got down into the 120s and stabilized at about 130-ish. But...an emotionally crippling relationship + stress eating = 45 lb. weight gain (over about 6 months). This morning I weighed in at 167. Ugh!

It drives me crazy to think that just a year ago I could wear anything in my closet and some things were actually too big for me. Now, my "fat pants" that barely stayed up on my hips are now my tight pants! I can only fit some of my clothes now so I have been wearing the same 7 or 8 outfits over and over because I REFUSE to buy new clothes in a larger size. I moved into my own place a few months ago (was living with the BF) and I am ready to get ME back.

So, here I am again, for support and accountability. I stocked up on eggs, string cheese, 0% greek yogurt and chicken. I will officially begin tomorrow and I am really looking forward to the journey.

Welcome back als I had gained about 25 of the 30 lbs last year and was in the same situation where I would only wear my fat clothes. But now I am back and lower than I was before! So you can do it and we will all be here to support you.

Good Morning everyone!

Still motivated but woke up with a headache this morning...no big deal, I'll just take some Tylenol...

Another question...is it alright to chew a piece of sugarless gum from time to time?

Hope everyone has a good day and sticks to plan!

I have been eating sugar free jello from time to time so I am SURE the gum is no big deal?
