I'm trying to gain the strength to get the nitrate-free products out of my Stillmans plan, but I can't imagine it getting even more strict! I want to barf when I look at meat right now. I just want a cucumber with ranch, is that too much to ask? I think my tummy is reducing a bit, but the scale shows nothing so I'm trying to be strong and stick with the 2 weeks like I said I would, but man. How do you guys do this? It would be motivating to lose even a lb- it's depressing to eat this way and the scale not move. I'm a creature of habit but even this is too confining for me! I want my cream cheese and peanut butter! Waaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Okay, I've got it out of my system. I'm good now. Sorry for whining. You all have bigger diet balls that I do- kudos.
How much water have you been drinking? I have done stills in the past and lost great on it and then I got a new bf, lost my job, went on a couple vacations and the weight came back so I thought I am going back on stills and I was being strict and I was losing almost noting! so I went off plan and I would go back on and I whined and complained and was angry. so, I started to think back to last year and what was different and the only thing I came up with is that I wasn't drinking enough water so I started upping my water to 3L and the next day I was down 3 pounds!

The other thing I started doing was taking my measurements so even though I have only lost 10 pounds in 2 months and that was with lots of cheats pretty much every weekend, my measurments have gone down consistently even with barely any weight loss I lost 2 inches in my waist alone!

I also try and eat as natural as possible, I have a little ham in my omelet and occasionally some bacon and then I have extra water but besides that I try and stay with meat that looks like meat if that makes sense? No processed chicken or burgers, unless i get ground chicken or turkey myself and make the burger that way I can control what is in them no hidden carbs or salt. I am a control freak so this works well for me anyways haha

Back on plan today I was 159.2 this am so only.4 pounds gained from my off day

I had coffee and chicken for breakfast and I have chicken breast thawing for dinner so it looks lik its a chicken kind of day for me.

I got invited to another bday dinner for tomorrow and requested chicken so hopefully I can stay as close to plan as possible I just don't know how to tell ppl I am not eating any carbs especially when they are going to the trouble of cooking for me for my bday.

Mar, good point on the water! I have upped my water today so will see if I get a woosh tomorrow. I know how hard it is to stick to the plan around your bday...you don't want to insult people. Hopefully they didn't make a chicken pasta!
I had some shirataki noodles this afternoon, just plain with a tbsp of tomato sauce (no sugar) and a few hot pepper rings. hope it doesn't slow my loss.

healthy for life: what are you doing for thanksgiving next weekend? Will you be in Hawaii next weekend or will you be going off plan? I know this is a two week challenge so maybe after this you are just going to do regular low carb?

Hey Mar! Yes i will be in Hawaii next weekend for thanksgving, we leave Saturday morning. I hope to low carb there too but will enjoy some drinks and a few treats. After I get back from Hawaii I think I am going to do a strict induction. I can't live without vegetables forever!
good news this morning! I was 144.5, finally down a pound. I guess those shirataki noodles didn't hurt after all. For dinner I had some chicken thighs (all fat removed)
Today I got up and pounded up a 5 km run (ran the whole way, 32 minutes) Felt amazing, the weather here is gorgeous this weekend. Cool and crisp but sunny. Heading into the final stretch before holidays....
Today breakfast: poached egg
lunch- leftover chicken thighs dipped in a roasted red pepper sauce (just a tiny bit) no carb sauce
dinner- extra lean hamburger patty (homemade)
congrats cats on your loss! I was getting discouraged too after being stuck for 3 days but patience pays off.

That was a lot of food tonight! I tried to atleast keep my protein high but I still had carbs. scared to weigh in tomorrow but I know stills will have this bday dinner off in no time!

the food was delicious and healthy all natural stuff if I wasnt doing stills I would of been proud of how healthy that meal was and how I kept on track so all in all the scale will go up but not cuz I binged and that's ok!

Good job Mar! Now all the bday dinners are out of the way you can get back on track. I know how hard it is around bday/holiday times.
I woke up to another woosh, 143.5!! Woot woot. I did a 5 km run yesterday so I think that blasted off another pound.
Today I had poached egg for breakfast
tilapia lunch
dinner will be another extra lean hamburger patty.
I am trying to get off the coke zero and splenda so had sparkling water for lunch and no splenda in my tea. I read a great blog today on dietdoctor.com about ketone levels and artificial sweetners. made me rethink how much diet pop I have been drinking since I gave up wine 2 weeks ago.

TOM is the worst, I find the few days before it starts I get a few pounds of water retention. So discouraging when you are dieting as you think you've gained but it's really just water. Stay off the scale until it's over and stick to plan and you will see a major woosh.
I weighed in 143 today, down another 0.5 pounds. I am so happy I seem to be losing really well this week, adding the running and cutting out diet pop may be really helping. plus I'm sticking to plan 100%. 4 days to go.
Hope everyone is having a good day

Yeah I noticed it go up a bit yesterday and decided to ignore it as I knew what was coming haha.

Had some shiritaki noodles tonight and made sure I didn't eat all of them! Not that i will really be able to tell anything ad I am not weighing in and I feel like a water balloon! Haha

I had some shirtaki noodles a few days back and it didn't seem to slow my loss at all. I put it with a tbsp of tomato sauce and some hot pepper rings for flavour. It was heavenly after all this meat! I can't wait to dive into a huge salad when I get to Hawaii, I have missed salad more than anything!

You guys are so focused! Good job on the losses!

I, however, am getting frustrated. I think I'm eating too much protein. A ten ounce can of chicken already has 50 grams of protein in it and I calculated I need about 77 for the day. Are you guys really only eating this little of food each day?

Cats- here is what I ate yesterday:
-1 poached egg breakfast
-lunch was a large extra lean hamburger patty with some roasted red pepper sauce to dip in (1 carb per 2 tbsp)
-dinner 1 can water packed tuna with 1 tsp mayo.
-snack later about 1/2 cup cooked shrimp with 1 tsp of red pepper sauce
lots of green tea, water and 3 black coffee
these last few days before I leave I have cut out all artificial sweetners (including my beloved sugar free gum) and also dairy.
Cats- remember I am doing this to get maximum results for my trip to hawaii, when I get home I do not plan to continue this strictly. I will definitely be adding in vegetables again. This is a "quick weight loss diet" and not meant to be followed long term. I would advise not to weigh daily, to follow the plan for 1-2 weeks and then weigh at the end. You will definitely see a loss, it is meant to jump start a low carb diet with some quick early fat loss. It is not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. It does get easier, your body gets into ketosis and the hunger pangs go away..but that doesn't happen until you follow it consistently for about 3-4 days minimum. Stick with it and you will see results.

I don't think many stillmans followers count or limit protein. Naturally, your desire to eat will lessen and you'll eat less protein, but with this diet, we have nothing else to eat except protein.

I would love to join this. I am eating cookies, chocolate, yuck. I bought a fantastic treadmill and never use it. what in the world happened to my self discipline? Thanks so much for this thread. Iwill come back later after work. Plan for the day: fish, eggs, broiled chicken no skin, black coffee, water, 20 minutes on the treadmill, work

Well I have lost 5.4 lbs, just by controlling portions and eating 1 or 2 meals instead of 7 large ones.

Definitely. You have less options as far as food goes and Atkins is very encouraging of fats but this diet is not- you have none to as little as possible. Check out the list of allowed foods- it's short, but what's great about that is it's easy to remember!

I lost 10 pounds in two weeks on Stillman's (these are my first two weeks of doing this ever). With Atkins, I lost about 12 in a whole month. I have not followed Stillman's faithfully at all (I use some fats in butter or oil when cooking, and I use a creamer in my coffee that has 1 carb per serving in it. I use about 1/2- 3/4 of a serving, and I also have more vegetables than is recommended), but the good part is that when I 'cheat', it still falls into the foods that Atkins allows. If I had done a very strict version, I know I would have lost even more weight- possibly double that. But! I am very happy with my results and meant to only do this for two weeks but have decided to go a full month.

If you're ready to start up, check out the "Marching in like a lion" thread. A member here let me know that that's the most active thread and where most of the members who are currently on this diet post.
