These are only a TOOL to help with weight loss and maintanence. We can and do have the ability to make wrong choices and gian the weight back.

I have had a couple of friends have severe complications (1 even died) with the by-pass surgery and YES you do have to take medication for LIFE. Most people say that they will do it but many get so tired of taking 6-10 pills a day they stop and then they are risking their lives.

I seriously considered the by-pass but REALLY had to ask myself the hard question if I would be willing to take pills every day just to survive? Since I really HATE taking medication I knew I would be one to let days/weeks/months slip by skipping or not taking my meds. So, by-pass was not a good option for me.
WOW that is scary stuff and the statistics are shocking!!!

Had some sliced grilled pork loin for breakfast and then my daughter wanted to take me to lunch (She is moving to Australia next week!!!) We went to a steakhouse ann I had an "Atkins" lunch - Steak and a salad with Blue Cheese dressing on the side.

Leftover steak will be on the menu for dinner. Hopefully I will not pay for the salad with a weight gain!

Thanks for all the "strength" vibes - they helped Today is day 2 of the Restart - I have planned for a busy day so I would not be tempted to snack. I never thought of myself as a "snacker" before Stillmans - I am really trying to pay attention to what and when I eat now.
how's the head?

snack on the right stuff and it doesn't matter!

I personally know 4 that have had it. .One of my friends has taken over a year to lose 50 pounds (we can do that on Stillmans!!). . and she had so many complications after the surgery. .she even said. . she doesnt' know if she would do it again. . Obstructed bowel. . . Indigestion to the point she could sleep. . every thing she ate got stuck in her throat. . and the list goes on and on .

My second friend had it about 5 years ago. . She has had several terrible "accidents' since. . Just this week. .she broke her ankle in several places. broke the foot the opposite way and had to have pins/ surgery. . the day after surgery, they realized her other foot was broken!! Last year it was her arm. . I think her bones are not getting something they need. . this weeks fall was a trip over some edging in her garage? I'd be scared to eat (my teeth would fall out! Yes. .I have the phobia, too). . She struggles constantly with her weight. While she isn't as "large" as she used to be. .she's not slim. .

the other 2 have gained every ounce back and then some. . .

So. .I often wonder myself. . if you dont' fix what's really causing your eating problem. . it will always be there. . .so. . I'm fixing me!!

hey, here's some inspiration for ya...........

back in June I bot a shirt in a sz med.

It's a close call with the gurls but if I go a large for thier sake the bodice bags terribly.

But the med was really tight on the upper arms.

I did not cave.

Tried her on yesterday and arms fit fine, not like too tight at all.

And all that with two pounds lost recentlt!

Tis true, when you lose it takes more time for the body to redistribute and balance out.

OMG my heart sailed when the arms fit!

Hello Eveyone

I'm checking in from Maintain Lane

I got one word : stress

Maintaining is so much more stressful for me than just plain old Stillmans

My weight is staying in the zone but every day I battle with food choices , ESP at parties and events

I am barely hanging on, it feels like
I thrive on structure and I think my plan has to much wiggle room

My weight is at my " high point" which is 137.6 and I swear I look giant even though it's not possible with just two lbs gain
I'll lose and gain the same 2 to 3 lbs which is normal for maintaining but I do hate when the scale is up
Arghhh
My birthday is Saturday and I really wanted to be right back at 135.6 , I know it's still possible but I can't believe I am allowing such a small thing to take over my thoughts

With maintaining , the fear of regain is always on the edge of the mind

I think I know what to do to ease my mind

I hope everyone is well
Hello to GT, CC and Mar particularly !

I still lurk the thread , don't post as much cause I'm boring these days !!!

Hello everyone! I was hoping I could join in this group. I've been reading up on Stillman's and ordered the book (hasn't arrived yet, should be here by tomorrow though!).

I am 23 years old, 5'4" and about 145 lbs. I have gained about 20 lbs since mid May.... so bad and I feel awful. I have a trip to Spain in 6 weeks and a concert in 2 weeks. If I were to stick to the plan to a T and keep my calories around 1,000-1,200 a day - what would my expected weight loss be?

I have stocked my fridge with chicken, lean low fat turkey burgers and turkey bacon, flounder fillets, and eggs.

I was wondering if there's anyone else who has my stats (height/weight/etc) and could let me know how fast they could lose the weight?

~Kate
