Protein Powder instead of Cottage cheese?
Hi,
I just started yesterday and then restared today because I had hot wings last night. I am just wondering if it is opk to use protein powder on stillmans I know its not in the allowable foods but it is only 2g carbs per serving and 25 g of protein, I don't like fat free cottage cheese so I wasthinking maybe I can have the PP for a snack instead? |

I don't think protein powder really existed to any extent back then, right? this is a very old diet. I say, use your judgment. it sure has less sugar than cottage cheese, which I don't think is a very good low carb food at all.

So Carb and protein wise its a fine replacement but it not nearly as filling as actual food, I have it in my coffee in the morning instead of cream and sugar and its really good but its no meal replacement, I need to chew!

Congrats Mar922 on the loss and hopefully plenty more of those great moments for you. I wnated to comment on the pp in place of cottage cheese, can't you try a low fat cottage cheese. Here in S.A I get a low fat version with 2.8g carbs per 100g and only 3g fat I don't know if you like cottage cheese but it is a good option if the fat free one is yukki and I know some of them are. I also need to chew and feel deprived if I don't which sort of bolws my pans out of the water lol

A protein shake made with cold coffee, protein powder, low carb coconut milk, and ice cubes sounds heavenly. The other day I put a smidge of vanilla whey powder in my piping hot coffee... Bad idea. It curdled and turned little rubber chunks.

Or just omit any "milk" and use cold coffee, protein powder, icecubes, plus extracts or sweeteners. If people find that they can have a protein shake without stalling it shouldn't be a big deal to mix it with coffee. The coconut milk I use has 1g net carbs per cup... It may work for some. I can't stand black coffee.

cottage cheese
I like cottage cheese, so I tried different fat free brands and to my delight "Hoods" brand fat-free cottage cheese tastes great! I tried store brands and they were horrible.
Some people say it stalls or delays their weight loss, but I find that it is satisfying and the taste of Hood's is so good that I cannot tell it from "regular" cottage cheese. |

"After you've been on the Quick Weight Loss Diet for some time and taken off more than 30 pounds, you may add moderate portions of artificially sweetened gelatin, plain yogurt, skim milk. However, you will lose faster if you don't add these foods."
The Doctor's Quick Weight Loss Diet, pg. 43 Page 95 of The Doctor's Quick Loss Diet book actually details quite a few "liquid formula diets." Last edited by Scarlet_Belle; 06-23-2012 at 11:09 PM.. |

Protein powder would seem like a good way to get more protein on the Stillman's diet. Just make sure you are mixing it with water and not milk. Looks like it's working for you so far. I guess I'll add this to my diet when I'm bored with the poultry. I love my beef and I usually do quite well with it. If I stall, I lay off of it a few days and I'm back in the losing saddle again.

I had protein powder this morning - 94 cal. 2.3 carb. And 30 grams of protein. I mix with water. I hope this doesn't have a negative effect on my weight.

The protein powder didn't seem to have a negative effect- I was down .5 today. I am a slow loser so I'm happy!
