WOE: Stillman's for now
|
Hi Stillies! So last month I was faithful to the program, and lost 7lbs in 2 weeks. But then I started to doubt myself, and missed eating fat and fiber, so I went back to regular low carb eating. But I did it junk food style: I was eating several (!) OMMs a day, in addition to a lot of chia pudding and coconut bark, and I put back on a couple of pounds. That's when I had the epiphany that calories do count! (at least for me). The only times in my life that I lost weight were on Eat To Live and Stillman's, and according to my ****** logs, on both of these programs, I was eating a caloric deficit.
So now I'm ready to try Stillman's again, especially after reading about Jimmy Moore's eggfeast and how he lost weight eating up to a dozen eggs a day. I'm also going to combine it with intermittent fasting, because I find it helps control my hunger, which was getting pretty bad the last time around. Losing weight is hard! It's uncomfortable, you're hungrier, and you have to adjust your lifestyle to accommodate it. And I finally accept this. The next time I complain about how I miss certain foods, or how I'm hungry, I'm just going to practice some tough love on myself. Of course it's hard to eat Stillman's, but it's absolutely NECESSARY for quick weight loss! I'd rather deal with the pains of dieting than the pains of being overweight. So now I'm back on the program! I've been fasting for about 40 hours now, and it's been surprisingly easy. I'm going to attempt to keep fasting until 5pm tomorrow, but I'm willing to break it if I feel it's necessary. I'm going to carry around hard boiled eggs in a baggie for when I go out. And my menu for the next couple of weeks/months will be tuna with mustard, turkey burgers with mustard, ground turkey with spices, chicken breast with hot sauce, shrimp, and EGGS! Primarily hard boiled because they're quick, and I won't have to clean sticky pans afterward. And if I still feel hungry after I eat, then TOUGH. I'll drink water, coffee, or tea and remind myself that losing weight is going to be challenging, but TOTALLY WORTH IT. And my plan for maintenance remains the same: Atkins, but this time with an eye on calories. I'm off to do Day 6 of Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. Best wishes to everybody! |

Hi Cyone! I'm doing the QWL one at the moment but I do eat veggies occassionally-usually when I can't stand another can of plain tuna!! I eat salad then, lettuce, cukes, peppers, Im not really into cooked veggies, and I like the crunch of the raw stuff. I miss that on QWL! I did the 14day one at the begining of my weight-loss and lost about 60lbs that way-I think it kept me sane! Still does! That will probably be maintenance for me too!

I don't think I could do the protein shake thing-they remind me of diet shakes! I did a thing called Lipotrim once-just before Stills-I lasted a week-gosh they were revolting!
And the aftertaste-yuk!![]() ![]() |

I've done both before but I think I'm going to start off with QWL until I can't stand it anymore then switch to the 14 day plan, or when I lose my first 20 pounds whichever one comes first.

![]() I have been testing the EFGT method this week.....you thought QWL was without choices? try eating 60-70% fat every day....I don't think I will be here long, I did my math and to not lose muscle I can eat 65 g protein/day. That's like an 8 oz steak. For the day. I miss meat.... ![]()

Today's menu:
turkey patty 2 eggs 1/2 lb. hamburger 3 small sausage links (with most of the fat squeezed out) medium sized plate of mixed pork, chicken, and beef stirfry. I cheated slightly and ate 3-4 pieces of broccoli and another 2-3 waterchesnut pieces with it. I felt bad about doing that, so I got on the treadmill for the second time today. Total exercise time today: 1 hour I'm on day 17, btw. |

![]() And yeah- my maintenance plan is the same as yours. I do LOVE my cheese and vegetables- with the occasional piece of bacon. YUM. Actually, about maintenance- I think I might want to lose an extra 5-10 lbs to give myself some cushion room for when I transition back to Atkins-style eating. I think 10 lbs would be best. It sounds like a lot but my body is known for having wild swings in weight. For example, the week I began destroying my dream body last summer, I was 108 lbs on a Saturday. By Thursday I was up to 113 lbs, and by that next Saturday I was up to 117 lbs. Yes, that much in that little time (note: I was binge eating that week). So, I just want to stop bad habits in their tracks and have that breathing room. |

I too am working on this bad habits thing. For me, I don't get cravings for carbs, I get cravings to eat...just the action of eating. I thought Stillman's would cure it, but I just ended up eating a lot of protein. I really do have to focus on eating less calories in general. If my big appetite never goes away, I plan on quelling it with very low calorie foods like vegetables and glucomannan pudding and gelatin, so I don't gain weight. Speaking of low calorie foods, could you share your meringue recipe again? ![]() |

^^You bet. Put two egg whites in a bowl, add about a tablespoon of artificial vanilla extract (or any other flavor of your choice- some, like cinnamon and mint, will flatten the meringue though), and 15-20 drops of liquid sucralose. Add a little food coloring if you like (I often add a drop of red to make a pretty pink fluff) and beat with a mixer on high until stiff peaks form (about 3 minutes).
Tip: start with room temp eggs for best fluff, or micro egg whites for 12 seconds before beating. It tastes pretty good really! My favorite extracts (besides vanilla) to use are peanut butter, english toffee, cherry, banana, and (of all things) anise. |
