I am marinating some chicken breasts in coconut oil, vinegar and Carribean Jerk Seasoning - will be putting these on the grill shortly.
I even gave the scale a small kick as I walked by it earlier - I said, "HA! NOT going to get me down today....so there!" I just love being a mature adult ![]() |

I heard once, that the most difficult part of any journey was the middle! Not the beginning, once you have started, and not when you can easily see your goal in sight. It is always the middle! The only thing that can assist you then, are your inner resources, a healthy distraction, good friends (like yourselves), and prayer. And taking naps when needed (a healthy distraction) So for those who are feeling like giving in, you now have been informed as to really where this temptation is coming from!
Thank you for the encouragement and wishes for the whoosh aleriaa! Remember bikini season is only 9 months away now! you will look soooo fine then! |

(I actually thought about how I must look horrible in that position , while I was scooping, but didn't care cause he was having fun.) Now I have proof. UGH... and we cant delete it becuase he looked so funny trying to break out of the sand!!! I need some sit ups bad... I should post it as punishment... Good afternoon!
I'm back on the horse today! Been drinking water and snacking on my chicken breasts. I made 3 chicken breasts for today. I had an eye exam last Thursday (by a retina specialist) and I learned that I will need surgery on both eyes to prevent me from eventually going blind. First surgery is on Sept 2 and second surgery is on Sept 9. So I spent the weekend doing not so well with controlling my carbs! Wishing everyone a pleasant day! Dustin |

As for losing wallet over at Europe. Same thing happened to me a few years ago... I was walking down the street and I suddenly noticed my wallet is gone. I chased the pickpocket down the street and got my wallet back. I emptied my wallet of EVERYTHING except for a few bills in local currency.
I think the pickpocket was very disappointed and he gave my wallet back to me along with the money he took from my wallet. Dustin |

I'm back...sort of!
Sigh.....
It has been a crazy few weeks. Don't think I'm nuts, but I have not even lurked here since the family reunion in early August...and now I just came back for the first time and read just this last page...and it seems many of us are going through the same stuff! And, it makes me feel OK! Accepted! Not a quitter! I have lack of motivation. I have stress (my brother is very ill. He had a liver transplant.) Also, my commitments have grown beyond my ability to catch up. I need to do something about that. Alas, I have also abandoned my scale and my desire to avoid Devil Carbs. Good news is that on the plane to PA I read Dana Carpender's book and LOVED it!!! It just resonated with me and made me ready to be ready to be willing...at some point...(ha!) to dive back in to the LC WOE. I also got Atkin's '72 book from amazon.com and started reading it yesterday. I've never done Atkins or even read the rules, so I'm a newbie there. Thinking that might be a good way to start. I certainly like how he writes and how much info he packs in to the book. Needless to say, I got on the scale this morning after my weeks long scale vacation and I am up 10 pounds from my stats!!! I knew it because my bras are too tight, my pants are too tight, I feel sluggish and don't have enough energy to do all the stuff on my ta-doo-doo list!!! Soon, I will jump back on the wagon. I need and want to!!! I'm back to suck up some motivation, Peeps. I missed being here! ![]()

OH, Yam!! Someone who feels my pain! and my gain! Yeah, ten pounds really makes a difference in how the clothes don't fit! I'm back into my 1x stuff and feeling blimpy! Bad thing is that I don't have any Stillman's food but eggs. I had a handful of peanuts so I could take some Advil a little while ago, so I'm already a cheater! Although not a binger like yesterday with the donuts!
Let's not feel bad about taking our attention off of us for a while to focus on family members that needed it. We can get rid of ten pounds, easy! Let's DO IT! ![]() |

![]() ![]() Seems like we all have the "end of summer" blahs I think we all need a breath of cooler Fall air....... I am having trouble even finding the motivation to go to the grocery store...now that is bad because just about all that is left here to eat is CARBS! I am hanging on until September 10th when I will get back on the scale - hopefully I will see a loss and be below 200 and THAT will be real motivation for me. Someone posted that bathing suit season was 9 months away - I thought if I could be pregnant for 9 months then SURELY I could stick to my low carbing for that long!!! I am guilty of looking at the BIG picture (pun intended) lately - as in how much I still have to lose. This is just not helping my motivation so I will try and concentrate on the POSITIVE things that I have done in the last 5 months. 1) Lost 58 pounds 2) Lost 2 dress sizes and made a lot of people happy by giving them my larger size clothes 3) Posed for a LOT of family pictures this summer 4) Went to a high school reunion and although I was nowhere near my goal - I did not feel like a blimp and I had a good time 5) Went to Chicago with my daughter and WALKED most of the day for 3 days, enjoying the sights and her company - I would not have been able to do that last summer 6) Actually put on a bathing suit and sat by our pool enjoying friends and family 7) Went to the Dr. for a physical and did not feel the least bit intimidated by the scale - actually the Dr was very supportive of the diet plan and my loss Anyone else want to add some POSITIVES? ![]() |

Posting positives; I am able to fit in clothes better. I am finding strength through diet discipline to generalize to other areas. (the I am not going to take this anymore is becoming stronger.) It gives me something other than my problems to think about. I am becoming more healthy overall and my blood glucose and blood pressure have improved into the normal ranges since my three week start date. Do I get tired? Yes. I need to find a good vitamin pill, but am putting my money towards food. Very tight financially right at the moment. I am eating a lot of organic eggs, as meat is becoming too expensive for me.

Oh! Good stuff you guys! Dwelling on the positive. Yes! Great idea. Now if I could only think of something!!!......
mmmmmmmmm...I'm still less than I was when I started! ....I have the most awesome family and I know where my priorities lie...several of my bros. & sis's are not in the greatest of health, so spending time with them and encouraging them is a joy. Being a Grandma is a joy!....time-consuming too! But totally worth it!! I can still crawl around with the grandies and chase the 2 year old and cart around the 6 month old. Thank God for a healthy body! Sometimes I forget how much it does for me!!! And....I have all of you to motivate me, not judge me and help me get back on the right track! Last night I dreamed about Dustin Hoffman in the movie "Rainman". Instead of saying that famous line in the Nevada casino...."We're counting cards, yeah, we're counting cards" he was saying "We're counting carbs, yeah, we're counting carbs!" I gotta dig out my little carb counter booklet and put it in my purse instead of guessing. Today I ate half a banana because my DH left it on the counter top. Have no idea how many carbs were in it 'cos I don't have that little book handy. Ate it anyway! Bad! Bad! Bad Yam-Yam!! That's how I've been lately. Mouth open. Stick something in it; just because it's there! I know what I should be doing. Know Stillman's plan inside out. I just have to WANT to do it and then REALLY DO IT!!! |

As I stated long ago, honesty is why I stay on this list. We are honest when we are doing great.....but more importantly, we are honest when we are struggling.
I absolutely HATED group meetings where everyone had a good week......week in and week out. I always felt somehow "outside" that group because I would lose and then gain or stall....somehow the reports of everyone having a great week always rang false with me. Then I was always reluctant to share if I had gained or stalled. I am sure these groups did not intend to make me feel like I was being judged (once again) and coming up short - but that is how I felt. So I would leave and go back to my bad habits....never working my way through all the struggles on my way to success - just failing....again. Here I feel that people DO understand the struggle. People here stall, gain, fall back into bad habits BUT they come back and try again..... I am trying to live a real life and include low carbing into that life. I am trying to be more healthy and live longer and fuller. For the past 5 months I have been MOSTLY successful and this is in large part due to the support of this group. So, my message is PLEASE post, check-in - even if you haven't followed Stillman's to a "T", even if you are struggling, even when you are gaining or stalled and especially when you are successful. Your success and struggles really DO help me to get through mine. Love to everyone out there! ![]() ![]() |

Hey Ladies!
Well, I'm back. I was kinda back then I started TOM which has lasted almost an entire mo. YEP, A MONTH WORTH OF TOM ALL DUE TO ME TAKING ONE BIRTH CONTROL PILL. OMG! Those things are posion. I'm praying the cycsts go down and all goes back to normal. Anyway. I'm back and want to get to 125 once and for all. Last I weighed, I was 146, then 150 with the massive swelling from whatevers going on with my baby factory. But, my bloating is way down. I took the Anti CAndida pills and I think that really helped me with all my bloating. Man, I'm such drama. Count me in ladies. How freakin long will it take me to lose 25-30 lbs. I want this so bad. I'm so bumbed that I'm still freakin having to deal with all this drama. I was so close then my hormones freaked out. HELP ME. I need encouragement. I'm only eating ckn breasts, and extra lean ground beef, egg whites and mustard. Gonna drop all diet sodas and only have water. Sure hope I lose 15 this mo. LEts do this once and for all. Let's make sure to write everything we put in our mouths here on the board and be accountable to each other. Amounts and portions as well. Thanks, Beth ![]() ![]()
