1st week on stillmans
I am new to lowcarbfriends. I found it when I was surfing for info on the Stillman diet. I began on Atkins May 1st 2009 at 287 and went down to 214 buy my birthday Aug 1st. I hit many plateaus along the way and I only lost 7 lbs since February until Aug 1. A friend of mine who is a personal trainer/ former weight lifter said to me quite manner of factly" Do you want to know what is wrong with your diet?" Of course he had my attention and he proceeded to inform me that I was probably eating more carbs than I realized and that to kick start my body I should go strictly meat and plunge myself into ketosis, he also stated with a grin that I would probably lose 7 pounds in a week. I took his advice the next day. My first diet I ever tried was Stillmans as a teenager and I lost 40lbs on it then. I surfed the net and printed it out and began. I also found the Stillman thread the next day and have been following it since. Well my smiling friend was right. I lost 7 pounds in 6 days. My only problem is that I feel like crap. I can't think, have no energy and I almost passed out last night during a concert in AC. I felt good doing Atkins and am thrilled to have broken my standstill like a freight train but am worried to stay on Stillman too long, don't want to damage my health. I am going to keep going until I break 200lbs and then I am thinking of adding maybe 5 grams of carb back one week at a time until I hit 20grams. I was also reading about some people going on and off of Stillman to get to their goal. I am hooked on losing weight again even though I feel like crap, at least I look better.

Team Leo! Team Leo! Team Leo!!
Welcome to the group! Congrats on the loss! You are doing great!! I like to lay low the first few days on Stillmans because its definitely a shock to the system going "all meat" but the good news is you will get that energy back, and keep on losing!! promise! ![]() Thank you for sharing and please keep checking in! I wouldnt expect the negative side effects to last much longer. Keep it up and you will continue to be rewarded with the quickness!! ![]() |

Hi Team Leo! Welcome! I'm going through the same thing as you are.... 2nd day. Usually, by 3rd day, I start feeling a tad better.
Okay, ladies. I bought a jar of Coconut Oil. I'm about ready to have my first spoonful! I'm ready to have a good night of sleep and drop in tomorrow morning! -Dustin |

Hi Peeps! Today is my 5 month Stillmanversary. I have lost 58 pounds during that time. I have kept it almost 100 pure QWL and just now started exercising (at Curves) 3 days a week.
I still have days when I am really tired. When that happens I eat more fatty meat for a day or 2. I take my vitamins and minerals. I try to get at least 100 oz of water in a day. I still have a long way to go but I see a glimmer of a light(er) (person) at the end. I could not have made it this far without the support of this group!! Thank you to everyone! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

team leo, are you taking your vitamins?
That's so cool that your friend knew the value of Stillmans!! I hope you get some energy really soon...I hate the beginning...that's one of the reasons I haven't really cheated (other than a ceasar salad and a little broccoli)...I don't want to have that induction flu feeling again... Congrats on your great start!! Quote:

Congrats, swebb and Happy Anni (: I hope you see ONEderland tomorrow!!!
![]() Enjoy the show, Al! I am jealous of all your concert-going! I Eminem too Congrats to all you losers! Looks like we had a bumpy patch there but most of us got our resolve back, myself included! Peeps, I'm suddenly starting to feel really panic-y! I can't believe it but I leave for Europe in 2 1/2 weeks! In 2 1/2 weeks I will be jobless for the first time in my life! I've been dieting for 6 months straight now and I absolutely fear that I may completely blow it, while in Europe, and not be able to get "it" back. What will I do when I can't check in here every day??? I won't be able to check in here for 6 whole weeks!! I WON'T be able to WEIGH for 6 whole weeks!! Just out of the blue, back in Jan... Feb... March... I don't remember exactly, but I decided to finally go backpacking, to lose some weight and to quit my job and NOW it's really coming to fruition. I'm finally a decent size, the schedule at work is filled in beyond my last day and my name isn't there and in 2 1/2 weeks my feet will be touching soil outside of the US for the first time in my 32 years here. I've been so focused on making money and planning and dieting and basically in autopilot and now reality is setting in and it's freaky, uncertain, yet very liberating. I told myself I would go off QWL 2 weeks before I leave... Now I'm telling myself that I'll go off QWL the week before I leave... but in my head, I DONT WANT to go off QWL before I leave and I'm beginning to think that's the new plan... I want to lose all the weight I can before I leave with my boneless, skinless chicken breast in hand as I board the plane for Copenhagen. Am I crazy? I should allow my body to adjust to carbs before I leave... or pay the price in unfamiliar territory... But do I want to board that plane at 148lbs or 162lbs. I think I'm just gonna keep on trucking. QWL until I land in Denmark. My paranoia over possible tummy upsets, if anything, will keep my eating to a minimum and calories low. Okay... just babbling now... The most exciting part of it all, will finally be putting myself off auto pilot and really experiencing new and different things every day and yes that even includes food! good night. ![]()
