So, what’s in a pound: a little bit of self loathing, a little bit of dreams unfulfilled, a little bit of self doubt, a little bit of lack of self worth and many other things – little things really, but when combined, they can alter your life.

Never doubt the loss of just one pound

Swebb - congratulations on your 49 pounds in 4 months. I don't need to lose that much so I have faith that I can accomplish my total loss also. Besides birthdays are only once a year.
shenue - I also did great with Stillman sevral years ago and I think job stress and the desire to eat what everyone was always bringing to the office was my downfall. I am back on and motivated so hopefully we can complete theis journey for the LAST time and maintain our losses.

About mayo. When Stillman wrote his book, was lowfat and nonfat may available??? The reason I ask is that I use a small amount of lowfat mayo on my tuna along with equal poritons of lowfat sour cream and continue to lose. Maybe some of the products not availabel then are today. Just wondering out loud. Of course I was in high school and college in the 60's and was skinny so I sure wasn't interested in diet products at that time.

aleriaaa You've done great. You are so close to your goal. Did you do most of it using Stillman? And I'm with you al......I want this to be my last round. Darn yo-yo dieting.
I'm trying to remember what talk show I saw him on. Now we're talking late 60s or early 70s. I used to watch The Mike Douglas Show when I'd get home from high school in the afternoons. He used to have guests like Stillman on his show. It probably was The Mike Douglas show where I saw Stillman. All I can remember is Dr. Stillman seemed fairly old...grey hair...to me at the time. Of course I was very young, so most everyone seemed old to me. lol I'm sure it must have been that show that inspired me to buy his book. It's not like now, with the internet and cable TV....etc. where new diets..or whatever are discussed and evaluated. Back then, unless it was an article in a 'women's' magazine or someone seen on one of the very few talk shows on TV, we had no real way of knowing about people like Dr. Stillman. So it was pure luck, that I happened to see Dr. Stillman.
Oh and I did weigh myself. No loss today. But that's ok I've been doing pretty good. The scale will move downward again soon.

adillenal I graduated from high school in '69' and I had been fighting the fat always. I do remember the first 'diet' mayo coming out, just trying to remember when. I think it was in the early 70's. And I think it was Kraft hmmm or maybe Hellman's. (called Mrs. Hellman's...i believe...back then) Anyway, I don't remember, for sure, which one came out with it first, but I do remember that the Kraft product was especially good at the time.

Thanks! I've been on stillmans since last July. I lost about 65 by Christmas and then reached 113 in April. I stayed strictly meat until then and now Ive been bouncing around since adding things back in. I'm ready to buckle down and get to goal now!!

I cant find any videos of Stills yet but imdb says he was on Donahue, Carson and the David Frost Show.... Wonder if netflix has any of these.. (im blocked so I cant check right now)

Sharon: You are amazing!!!!! Congrats on the anniversary and your success!!

Al: Just finished watching 30 minute performance by LADY GAGA. She was on the Today show yesterday and they had their biggest crowd ever for a concert. Over 20,000 "little monsters". She is one of those performers you just can't take your eyes off!! No wonder you love her.

Hope you are all having a great weekend. I am feeling very lazy. DH is golfing today and I just want to sit around and read magazines. It's too hot to go out and walk. Excuses! Excuses! I'm gonna make some iced green tea and dig out some beef from the freezer.

Scale is still the same. I had some pasta yesterday. Bummer! I was gonna have a 100% OP day, but didn't.

Gotta go back and catch up on posts. BBL

I have to make my sister's birthday cake today... and take her out to a nice dinner tommorrow. Bad timing to start my diet I guess, a week before my sister's birthday. I will try to stay strong but if I cannot, I will pick myself up and start again.

Today is my youngest daughter's birthday (24). She picked a restaurant for dinner because it has great steaks (for me ). She said losing weight was the best birthday present for myself and her (almost made me cry!).

She wants to move to Australia next summer and wants me to come visit and "see the sights". She said if I was thinner then I would be 1) Happier 2) Be able to walk and hike with her 3) She wouldn't worry so much about me being on a long flight and the top reason....... I would be more likely to WANT to be in family photos.........

How's that for a little pressure (and motivation!)

I have been seriously cleaning house for the last 2 weeks - getting rid of stuff we haven't touched in years. It it time to get REALLY serious about sticking with QWL and getting rid of the FAT that has been accumulating for years.

I know it works! But after 4 months I am needing a little "kick in the butt" to add some more exercise to my plan. I am needing to see pounds drop a little faster

I think I will dig out a photo of me on my birthday a year ago and then post that and this years photo - sometimes it is soooo hard to "see" the difference in the mirror - it is easier to see in a photo comparison.

IF I feel brave I will share

Please do. .webb .. it is always so motivational. .I really wish I had before photos. .I never and I do mean, never allowed any of myself much less brought them in the house. I love that Gwn has before and after. . I could stare at them for hours. in a motivational type way. . not a stalker creepy way. .

I am sitting down cooling off after making a billion trips to the attic with "stuff". I have way too much stuff and still have things in storage! I have moved about every 7-10 years (I'm a minister) and each time I try to get rid of things. This last move was very crazy, but since I knew for a long time I was going to be moving, I did manage to cut down on things. I even cut my library in half. But I've accumulated stuff and didn't get rid of enough. So, my game plan is to go through a box or two a day starting in the fall when the weather is cooler. The decision process will be this: throw away or give away. If it is in the attic, I obviously don't need it! My goal is to only store seasonal decorations!

My DD and SIL lived in New Zealand and I made several trips to see them. I just managed to get the seatbelt fastened but it was not a pretty sight. The last trip though I had lost from 259 down to 209. The trip was soooooo much easier! I had considered moving there since my son is in the Coast Guard and so I can't move close to him. But then they decided to come back to the states. My SIL is from New Zealand.

Does your daughter live in Australia? It would be a great adventure for you to go!

Swebb - congrats on the 4 months and the great weight loss. Aleriaaa - wow, 65 lbs is awesome. Mim - I think the whole decluttering thing is a great thing to do to. I've been thinking of it myself. I think if you don't feel organized it makes you feel out of whack. Being organized makes me think clearer.

I have a question, why does everyone use coconut oil and where do you buy it? I think it's good that this plan is low fat, because when I do low carb I tend to overdo the mayo and cheese.

Hi Peeps!

Wow, lots of motivational reading on here today, I love it! You guys are seriously the best, I mean it!

Happy Anni, Swebb and CONGRATS on the 49lbs! Are you still eating red meat? Maybe dropping that for a bit will help get the pounds moving faster?

I have felt a lot better the last 24 hours, no trips to the bathroom! - I think it was just the die off... though I have noticed that feeling a bit better and no bathroom trips has also made my belly get a little extra squishy again. Plus I am up a pound to 158. We'll see how the next week plays out. I'm just really glad I didn't get any crazy die off on my skin, like weird rashes on my face, I was really worried about that! I am gonna probably take a probiotic tomorrow and see how it goes... I know it's really bad to not continue with them after the die off. IM, not sure I could be allergic to anything... the probiotics specifically say that there are no allergens in them and it's been so long since I had coconut oil, I don't think I would have felt the effects that long and I think I would have also began feeling the effects much sooner. So yea... Just gonna assume it was die off all week.

Did I tell you guys that I got into my size 11 jeans? Wore them all day yesterday. Those were sort of my "goal" jeans that I owned when I was last 147lbs. They fit perfectly. I also got into a pair of size 10 dress pants that I bought like a year ago, just knowing I'd get into them some day. Ha! They were kind of expensive too so it was a little foolish to buy a size 10 when I was a size 18 at the time! But, they were motivation for me

Okay peeps, need to eat something, BBL!
