Gwn- enjoy NYC. I went to C21 grand reopening after 9/11 and wasn't impressed. Maybe it's different now but when I went there were no great deals there, and crowded beyond belief. I'll take Marshalls or TJMaxx any day.

I don't think I've ever gone into Century21 and not been overwhelmed by the amount of people in there. It's really not easy to shop in there, given the thousands of people who are swarming through there at any given moment. Ugh. I am gonna try to hit it up early maybe?

Mine didn't move either

The summary of what he said is: When you don't take in enough calories the body goes into "starvation" mode and basically slows/shuts down your metabolism. Even with exercise you will experience a stall or major slow down of your weight loss. The starvation mode will mess up your metabolism for days if not weeks or months!

He wants me to try and keep my calories between 900 and 1100 a day. I can do this by eating more dark meat of the chicken/turkey. He said if you are only eating 500-700 calories a day and experience a stall - "Where do you go from there?!"

So I am going to try and get in an extra meal (I currently eat about 4 times a day) for the next few days and see what happens.
I like this advice. It's true... at 5-600 cals, where do you go? Water fasting!?

No change in scale today... My body is bouncing around those 2lbs I gained from salad! Which means all I see are numbers in the 170s! I must have thrown myself out of ketosis... Didn't even think to check my ketostix. Calories were low yesterday, probably 500. I'm gonna try and get some more cals in today though.

Remember, over here we are waaaaaaaaaaay behind in nutritional awareness compared to Europe. And we beleive what the mainstream media tells us. Low cal, whole grain. Shady deals between the gov't and the farming industry. Check this out-it's the perfect example of how our gov't is partially responsible for the rampant obesity in our country.

GT, loving the new avi!

Ludo, thanks for the skin advice, will look into those products.

I'm munching my chick chick chicken down. Only had broth for lunch today as my stomach was being very dodgy and spent my "lunch time" in the bath room Sorry, tmi!

Menu:
B: 3 boiled eggs
L: Chicken broth
D: Chicken broth, chicken breast
Liquids: water water water, and 3 cups of tea.

Btw, thought I'd mention, I've been having 2 sticks of sugar free gum a day since Monday, and it hasn't affected my weight loss.

I'm researching again:

Stillman's Diet
Overview
The Stillman Diet is one of the earliest low-carbohydrate diets. As a physician who worked with overweight patients, Stillman discovered the quickest weight loss was experienced by those who followed a low-carbohydrate and low-fat diet. His diet is restricted to low-fat protein and promises quick weight loss.

Definition
Dr. Irwin Stillman practiced as a family physician in Brooklyn, New York, and developed the Stillman Diet in the 1960s. He subsequently wrote a book titled "The Doctor's Quick Weight Loss Diet," and the diet soon became known by the book's title rather than as the Stillman Diet. He later developed variations on the diet, including one that incorporated exercise and another for teenagers that added limited carbohydrates; but the original Stillman Diet is a straightforward high-protein, low-carbohydrate and low-fat diet.

Diet Plan
The Stillman Diet advocates eating six small meals a day and follows two key rules. First, you must drink eight glasses of water a day. Second, you can eat as much as you want but only lean meat, poultry (no skin), seafood, eggs and non-fat cottage cheese. Food should be broiled, boiled or baked, never fried or cooked in any type of oil. In addition to water, you can drink tea, coffee and diet soft drinks. Common spices such as salt, pepper, garlic and Tabasco are allowed, but no condiments containing oils.

Forbidden Foods
The diet strictly forbids carbohydrates, vegetables, fruits and fats, including butter and vegetable oils. Alcohol and sugar are also not allowed.

Ketosis
The Stillman Diet results in rapid weight loss because such severe restriction of carbohydrates means the body must break down fat for energy. In addition, the body uses more energy to break down protein than to break down easily digestible carbohydrates, so more calories are used during metabolism. The body's use of fat for energy is called ketosis. Ketosis results in the production of substances called ketone bodies, which are acidic. If ketone bodies build up in the blood, a potentially serious condition called ketoacidosis occurs. It's extremely important to drink enough water to reduce the level of ketones in the blood. The signs and symptoms of ketoacidosis are fruity-smelling breath, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and fast, deep breathing.

Considerations
Two advantages to this diet are that it is easy to follow and results are quick. Trivialibrary.com says Stillman claimed people on his diet would lose 7 to 15 lb. in the first week and about 5 lb. per week after that. Stillman also suggested changing over to a calorie-counting program once people were within 3 lb. pounds of their goal. However, the limited food choices do not provide a healthy, balanced diet. Stillman's diet lacks fiber and since people on it won't eat vegetables, fruits or carbohydrates, it's essential for them to take a supplement to ensure sufficient nutrition.

5 things you need to know about the Stillman's Diet

1. Protein Makes You Skinny
The Stillman Diet is very specific. Your food choices are limited only to beef, lamb, veal, chicken, turkey, lean fish like cod and flounder, shrimp, scallops, lobster, oysters, clams and crab. You can also eat eggs and low fat cottage cheese. Don't prepare any food with butter, margarine or oil. You can use spices, seasonings, salt, pepper, Tabasco sauce, horseradish, ketchup and cocktail sauce, but no mayonnaise or salad dressing. Eat 6 small meals a day.

2. Water and More Water
Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to combat constipation and wash the by products of fat loss out of your system. There are no restrictions on coffee, tea or diet soda. Stillman recommends a vitamin supplement during the diet for nutrients missed from fruits, vegetables and monounsaturated fats. He also suggests a visit to the doctor before starting the diet to rule out any high risk factors that a high protein diet could worsen.

3. Fastest Diet Ever
Stillman predicts you will lose 7 to 15 lbs. in the first week and 5 lbs. every week after that. This extreme, ketogenic diet causes your body to stop pulling energy from the sugar stored in your blood stream and organs and start burning fat for energy. One bite of ice cream will set you back a day or so while your body has to readjust again. He also predicts it will work for 100 percent of people who try it.

4. Why Would You do This?
The Stillman Diet is a good method to use when you hit a plateau or you want to kickstart your weight loss. Irwin Stillman, a doctor from Brooklyn, lost a good deal of weight himself on the diet and prescribed it for over 10,000 overweight patients. He originally based it on Dr. Eugene Dubois theory of the cost of digestion, which claims that it takes up to 30 percent more calories to consume protein than carbohydrate and dietary fat.

5. Tips and Tidbits
You'll probably get a headache from carbohydrate depletion in the first few days. Sluggishness, sleeplessness and crankiness will also plague you. After those symptoms subside, you should feel a renewed sense of energy. You won't be hungry since the diet has a natural appetite suppressing effect. It's important to stick to the 6 small meals a day so you're body doesn't think your starving and convert to a survival mode of holding onto body fat.
