My scale did not move today but I sort of expected it.. more salt/less water yesterday.

Today is a day of going to half a dozen places trying to find a pair of sandals for my daughter. Have to get groceries too.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Thanks GT and Bratty!

So, I watched The Biggest Loser yesterday, for the first time. Being English, the whole concept of this show passed me by, but oh my... I'm a little astounded. Those two trainers really are ODIOUS. I will say that it motivated me to keep going on my weight loss and try to incorporate more exercise. But I really don't think that making weight loss about a race and competition is healthy. I'm all for quick weight loss, of course. It's the name of the diet we are doing in here (most of us anyway, and we all have experience with it), but really? The humiliation? The constant pseudo-pyscho-babble BS from personal trainers (what authority do they have anyway to start waxing lyrical about psychological issues of these individuals?). Don't get me wrong, I think I will probably continue to watch it (morbid fascination), but I can't help but think that their approach is really unhealthy, and not to mention misleading for people who want to lose weight and will ultimately be extremely disappointed when they realise that 20 pound weight loss in a week is not usual. I don't think that people should be molly-coddled when they are ruining their health and risking their by being so obese, but I also think that the extremity of the show is exploited to raise ratings and shock factor. It's unrealistic to expect anyone who has a job and family to be able to put in that amount of exercise per day (up to 8 hours!!!!). And wth are they eating??? Seems to me that they keep it calorie based, but they said nuttin' about nutrition... Anyone else got any thoughts? Sorry if you've already had this discussion a gazillion times.

And on another note, Jillian Michaels looks like a man-horse, and the way she croches on the bars of the exercise machines reminds me of Gollum. Great bod though.

BBL. Off to work for now.

Good morning and a lovely day to all! Remember, any day you are on top of the grass is a good day!

WTG Kam! Maybe it's the whining fairy that is your friend!
And welcome to the stupid world of American reality shows. (hurl) I can't stand them.

Remember, over here we are waaaaaaaaaaay behind in nutritional awareness compared to Europe. And we beleive what the mainstream media tells us. Low cal, whole grain. Shady deals between the gov't and the farming industry. Check this out-it's the perfect example of how our gov't is partially responsible for the rampant obesity in our country.

What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie? - NYTimes.com

Gwn- enjoy NYC. I went to C21 grand reopening after 9/11 and wasn't impressed. Maybe it's different now but when I went there were no great deals there, and crowded beyond belief. I'll take Marshalls or TJMaxx any day.

GT people actually watch and comment on your eating habits? Wow, someone needs to get a life!

Portland Shellfish Company Recalls Cooked, Frozen Claw Island Brand, Craig's All Natural Brand And Inland Ocean Brand Lobster Claw And Knuckle Meat Because Of Possible Health Risk
Tue, 15 Jun 2010 09:45:00 -0500

Portland Shellfish Company, Inc. is voluntarily recalling the following brands of cooked, ready to eat fresh or frozen lobster meat: Portland Shellfish Co. Inc brand, Claw island, Craig’s All Natural, and Inland Ocean cooked, fresh or frozen lobster claw and knuckle meat as recent tests show the product has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

With Summer nearly here.. I want to share something that I found on a blog I frequent.... We need to keep our "Stillman's fire" burning

"My Invincible Summer"

“In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.” — Albert Camus

"The above quote I find to be so true.

No life goes without some sort of bad weather… some sort of tragedy… some sort of sorrow …. Some sort of struggle.

We have all been there at some point in our lives.. some only a time or two and some many times over and over again it seems.

As I sit here now and think back to some of my darkest moments … I can surely see the struggle, the sadness/anger/despair/weakness/fear….. but also I can see the fight inside me to make it through.

Oh yes so often I had moments where I just wanted to give up and maybe I did for a brief second here and there …. But always I knew that was not the way I was going to go down and the fight within me to get beyond this dark point in my life was far stronger … in fact, looking back now, I can see how the darker my moments the stronger my fight.

There is a fire inside all of us .. when negativity comes into our lives our fires begin to burn out and die… it is only when we make the choice to rid ourselves of that negativity that our fires begin to roar again.

It is up to us to keep our fires roaring … it is in the choices we make .. and what we allow into our lives …

The fire never truly dies .. you may at times find that your fire has gone to burning embers … but all the while you have what it takes inside you to bring those embers back to that roaring fire that lights your way… fills your life with warmth and gives you the energy to keep you moving on your path.

Those dark times in our lives remind us that we do have what it takes to change our worlds.. you are all sitting here today reading this because you have made it through some sort of dark period in your own life.

When times get hard remember that inside you is that invincible summer determined to blossom new life.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker "

Thanks Swebb! I miss you all too! Im2fat, Sometimes I can't even do the sw for like a minute...I feel like keeling over lol. But I do notice a slight difference. Trust me, we are supposed to do 6 minutes straight to see results in 2 weeks..I can't do that at all. I reallllllly hope the woosh fairy comes your way soon. The 26th is the day I leave for MA, so I wish to be Thinner than what I am now, as well.

Calories and Stalling

Just got off the phone with my doctor. He supports Stillman's for "me". I was asking him about my stalling out. His advice: Eat more!!!

The summary of what he said is: When you don't take in enough calories the body goes into "starvation" mode and basically slows/shuts down your metabolism. Even with exercise you will experience a stall or major slow down of your weight loss. The starvation mode will mess up your metabolism for days if not weeks or months!

He wants me to try and keep my calories between 900 and 1100 a day. I can do this by eating more dark meat of the chicken/turkey. He said if you are only eating 500-700 calories a day and experience a stall - "Where do you go from there?!"

So I am going to try and get in an extra meal (I currently eat about 4 times a day) for the next few days and see what happens.

Hard Boiled Eggs

A few pages back someone asked about boiling eggs - here is what I do for my husband (I don't like eggs )

Fill a HEAVY pot with water up to 2 inches from the top of the pot.

Add one-fourth teaspoon baking soda.

Bring to a boil.

Get a large slotted spoon and VERY VERY VERY slowly, add each egg to the pot of water.

When all the eggs you intend to boil are in the water, bring the pot of water back to a boil.

Boil for TWO minutes -- only.

Remove the pot from the heat and let sit for a hour.

Before removing the shell of each egg, put it under cold tap water for about half a minute, then shell the egg.

They should be perfectly done, and none of the yellow yolk should have any blackened spots on it.

· If you bite it write it

· If you drink it ink it

· Pencil before utensil

· Scribble if you nibble

Just thought I'd share. . .I have been keeping a food journal . . at least I can track how much exercise and how much food I've consumed.. I've been writing everything in it, including any bites!

IM2 and Swebb, I just read this in another thread, and I thought that it may help. I don't know if it's true, but it does make sense...

"Weight loss is not a linear process. The body often resists the loss of fat by filling empty fat cells with water. Thus, our scale weight will be the same for a while. Eventually, the body will be forced to dump that water, and we'll see a loss on the scale, but the fat was actually lost over a longer period of time."

Stick with it, and you'll see results soon if your sticking to plan.

Denise woohooo on onederland! Whatever you're doing is working so keep it up! And keep coming in and posting, you're missed!
