Good point. I don't want to be the "big girl". I hate that turn of phrase, and I always get it cause I'm so freaking tall. Soon I'll just be known as tall. I hope.

I warned you all-be careful what you wish for!

Political Science for Dummies

DEMOCRAT
You have two cows.
Your neighbor has none.
You feel guilty for being successful. You push for higher taxes so the government can provide cows for everyone.

REPUBLICAN
You have two cows.
Your neighbor has none.
So what?

SOCIALIST
You have two cows.
The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor.
You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his cow.

COMMUNIST
You have two cows.
The government seizes both and provides you with milk.
You wait in line for hours to get 2 Qts.
It is expensive and sour.

CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE
You have two cows.
You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.

BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE
You have two cows.
Under the new farm program the government pays you to shoot one, milk the other, and then pours the milk down the drain.

AMERICAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You sell one, lease it back to yourself and do an IPO on the 2nd one.
You force the two cows to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when one cow drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts stating you have downsized and are reducing expenses.
Your stock goes up.

FRENCH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You go on strike because you want three cows.
You go to lunch and drink wine.
Life is good.

JAPANESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk.
They learn to travel on unbelievably crowded trains.
Most are at the top of their class at cow school.

GERMAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer, give excellent quality milk, and run a hundred miles an hour.
Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year.

ITALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows but you don't know where they are.
You break for lunch.
Life is good.

RUSSIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You have some vodka.
You count them and learn you have five cows.
You have some more vodka.
You count them again and learn you have 42 cows.
The Mafia shows up and takes over however many cows you really have.

TALIBAN CORPORATION
You have all the cows in Afghanistan, which are two.
You don't milk them because you cannot touch any creature's private parts.
You get a $40 million grant from the US government to find alternatives to milk production but use the money to buy weapons.

IRAQI CORPORATION
You have two cows.
They go into hiding.
They send radio tapes of their mooing.

POLISH CORPORATION
You have two bulls.
Employees are regularly maimed and killed attempting to milk them.

BELGIAN CORPORATION
You have one cow.
The cow is schizophrenic.
Sometimes the cow thinks he's French, other times he's Flemish.
The Flemish cow won't share with the French cow.
The French cow wants control of the Flemish cow's milk.
The cow asks permission to be cut in half.
The cow dies happy.

FLORIDA CORPORATION
You have a black cow and a brown cow.
Everyone votes for the best looking one.
Some of the people who actually like the brown one best accidentally vote for the black one.
Some people vote for both.
Some people vote for neither.
Some people can't figure out how to vote at all.
Finally, a bunch of guys from out-of-state tell you which one you think is the best-looking cow.

CALIFORNIA CORPORATION
You have millions of cows.
They make real California cheese.
Only five speak English.
Most are illegal.
Arnold likes the ones with the big udders.

one more Q=what is your birth month/day?
Yes, the move is permanent, I haven't lived there before.

It'll be difficult for several reasons. I'll be living with my boyfriend again, who eats a lot of carbs and wants to gain weight. ok, so?

He also doesnt think I need to lose any more weight which can be a little demotivating at times, and I find it harder to stay on plan when with him. Aha! I don't want you to change! Sorry, love, do what is right for yourself. If he can't hang now, he won't hang later.

We have lived together before (for a couple of years) and I gained a lot during that period of time (not becasue of living together, more because of emotional issues related to my family and job at the time). And he was supportive and not critical, right? Nice.

I always find changes of routine really hard and my diet always takes a knocking in some way.

The training will be long days, but I like your "salad" ideas.

What worries me is that collegues will want to go out for lunch in a "get to know you" thing, but I guess I can always take food along and say I'm scrimping on money (the training is unpaid afterall, and I'm sure they'll understand that I can't afford to eat out at restaurants all the time). Remeber, deprivation is a motivation killer. Do go, but make wise choices.

I also hate being on a diet in public, if you know what I mean... I hate being watched and criticised about the way I eat and I get a bit paranoid, so I don't want to seem really anal or obsessive or dieting during this period as I really want this job to go well. What you eat has no bearing on your professional performance. I like to tell people I am on the diabetic diet. Like it's their business, no, but I try to be kind first and a bish later. Remember, people are put off by motivated focused people because most lack discipline. They are not watching you, they are wondering how you do it because they can't or won't.

I think I'll have to play the training by ear, and make wise choices if I ever eat out, and take lunch along with me at all other times (I'll have to be armed with lots of recipes which look normal for the untrained eyes, so any more suggestions are welcome!!!!)good plan

and as for the move/routine change/living circumstances/boyfriend combo, I really will have to be extremely disciplined. why?

I at least have a week or so to settle before the training, which is when I want to start the couch to 5k programme, and I want to use the move to incorporate HEALTHY changes to my life rather than seeing it as a potential disaster zone. Use your mind and your heart.

The heat in Madrid will work to my advantage though, as I always want to eat less in the heat. Wow, sorry, this has turned into an essay. Sorry to page hog and tell my life story!
that's why we're here........at least I thought so.

Remember, these are only opinions, not criticisms. And I'm a natural blonde so WTH do I know, anyway?

I've been completely on plan the last few days so I'm pumped for my weigh in on Saturday. I'm an obsessive weigher usually, but the daily fluctuations really do my head in. I end up feeling defeated when I see a small gain even though I know it's just water weight so I'm trying to stick to weekly weigh ins.

I've kept my calories around 600 each day. I'm mainly eating chicken but I've got a treat for myself today at lunch, a container with big juicy prawns!

You are always going to run into people that will protest your diet, but if its working for you and you are feeling better about yourself then keep it up! You wouldnt judge any one of them so try not to set yourself up like its going to be a negative experience. You have got to put you first. your feelings and your health are the only things that matter.

Stick with us. Stick with meat and the rest will follow.. and if it helps, leave an apple on your desk that you are just to full to eat.. I want to see you succeed and I believe you will!!! So get skinny and all these fears and paranoias will be history!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!

CC - My birthday is 25th July. Thinking over what I said and what you said about my boyfriend, it really doesn't matter what I'm eating, as he would support me whatever (as long as he thinks I'm making healthy, sensible choices and looking after myself. He has always been supportive of me and my many ups and downs, so I don't know why Iḿ fretting unneccessarily about that. He loves the food I make him (esp. the low carb stuff, incidently) so I just need to stop whining. It's not that he doesn't want me to change, he wants me to be healthy, and I am healthy right now. I'm overweight, yes, but my health has improved massively in the last 9 months as a result of some weight loss and increased exercise. I know he would embrace any further improvements.

"What you eat has no bearing on your professional performance. I like to tell people I am on the diabetic diet. Like it's their business, no, but I try to be kind first and a bish later. Remember, people are put off by motivated focused people because most lack discipline. They are not watching you, they are wondering how you do it because they can't or won't." This is an excellent point. Thank you for saying this. So very true.

As for needing discipline with the change, it's because I'm very undisciplined in general, and though it keeps getting stronger, I'm very easily derailed. This is a work in progress. I know that that isn't going to change over night, and I just need to remember that consistency really is the key to success in weight loss. It's all well and good to be losing a pound a day for a week, but not at all good to then binge and have to lose those same pounds again, because of bad stress management. My stillman stints are getting longer though, and I can't begin to explain how this thread keeps me going and supports me.

I'm loving your opinions, and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. And I really really appreciate it. Thank you!

Now I'm off to beddy byes. Will check in tomorrow.

Ah, Kam, the lion.
Fierce protector of family, relied on heavily for nurturing and support by those she protects. The lioness cares for and feeds the family while the male lion preens and lazes in the sun. Secretly vain, she is very concerned about her appearance. Loves to be the center of attention whether she realises it or not, lives for love and appreciation. Leos work extremely hard because they relish their free time which is not often. They are also very sensitive and if their feelings get hurt they can be crushed. But they are good at hiding this, always putting up the brave front.

I am woman, hear me roar!

I like GWN's response best.....skrewem!!!!!!!!!

Menu today:
B: 1 HB Egg, Coffee
L: 8ozs Grilled Chicken
D: Small Coffee, 1 HB Egg
S: SF Jello Cup

Cals were low today. I still feel bloated though and it's been 48 hours since I had salad. Ugh! Salads are so tasty but I do not like the bloating they cause. Grrr! I got a bike ride in, only about 8 miles today and not too fast, tire feels weird so I am going to have to take it into the shop this week. I hope I am back at sig tomorrow, but given the bloating, I doubt that's gonna happen. Next cheat weekend - June 27/28... I'll be in NYC for 2 days. That's only 10 days away so I gotta get 5-7 pounds off, I hope. I want to go to Century21 and buy new clothes! Agh, discount designer clothes and I've never shopped in there under 200lbs!

Well, all my whining, whingeing, typing and strange hunger (despite eating what I normally eat) brought a nice whoosh for me and I lost 2 pounds over night down to 210 today, so only 1.4 from stats. I will be there by Sunday and next week I will continue! I'm on a roll girls and I have you all to thank for it!
