SWebb- that story breaks my heart. I'm a dog lover (I don't show them, but I have 2) and wow, I would be really saddened by my little one getting hurt. She hurt her leg once and I was devastated, rushed to the vet, paid up front, didn't care about the cost, but definitely was stressed out.

Like a lot of people on here I am finding the rules of QWL very easy to follow after the first week (that was the hardest since I was detoxing from carbs AND cutting WAY back on caffeine).

After a month or 2 everyone seems to find a WOE that works for them.

I do almost 100% meat - maybe a salad or a cup of green beans or broccoli once a month - I find that getting in the water and remembering my vitamins the hardest part.

I think I was gone like 12 hours??? lol You are right Denise! We cant leave each other!!!

I am having difficulty but I dont feel like I have the right to complain. Its really tough being at goal and not knowing how to handle it. I know (and Im reminded by some) that I dont need to lose more, but I still want to lose more. Then Im told Im tooo skinny and its my excuse to eat garbage. Its really been tough. Much tougher than starting this diet last July and sticking with meat. I need to be in control and QWL is the only thing I can keep in control. Adding cream in my coffee is driving me nuts!!! Sorry Im rambling.... Im so confused about what to do and how to handle it. Not looking for answers just whinging....

Whine away girl!! This is the site for venting. I vent on here when I need to. It's better than going on an eating binge. I just cut up some celery and added that and some bacon bits in a bowl with a little splash of ACV. mmmmm! I read somewhere that adding one or 2 days of fat back into the diet will make you lose faster because there is more fat to burn. I'm going to look that up somewhere and if I find it, I'll post.

Al, I'm sorry you're feeling down. They do say it's actually harder to maintain than to do a diet. I think it's def true. When you've got a lot to lose (or want to lose a lot) then you have a concrete goal in mind and nothing will stop you. When you get there then you get comfy! I know at the beginning I had willpower of steel!!! It def wained around November!! But then I got it back!....Then I was like a crazy woman at home!! I just think you have to go crazy once in a while!! And then come back renewed and refreshed!!

Three days QWL, four days Atkins, then Meditteranean (what they call just cutting the junk out, and being aware of Glycemic Index). I was doing the Med for a week, and I was maintaining the QWL for the most part. But now I'm psyched up on Quick Weight Loss and I cut the last two rotations short. I have to say, the third day on QWL I cheated just a little in the evening. Tonight is that night and I'm trying to get through today without that last minute cheat of something like salad or cheese. Not really a cheat, per se, but starting the Atkins phase a little early.

Thanks to Al's inspiration, I may try to go through tomorrow for a FOURTH Stillman's day tomorrow. It's still too early to tell if this is going to work, but I was gaining on Atkins and just threw in the towel last summer.

As for bingeing, I'm the expert on that!! With me it used to be "all or nothing." When DH gave me sugared ginger ale instead of diet, I got out a bag of Ruffles and ate them, "because I blew it already...." which is totally stupid.

(crossing fingers) I hope I'm over my bingeing days! Since January I haven't done stupid stuff like that, and tried to keep my carbs within a high protein meal so as to minimize the glycemic load. Now I feel like I'm bingeing when I have a fried egg!

I have not tried QWL for more than a few days because (don't hate me) I despise eating that way!! I'm hungry all the time. I can only do this for short term, that's why I thought up the rotation thing. Also, a long time ago there was a diet called the Rotation Diet which explained that your body gets used to a certain caloric intake, and you have to fool it by changing it up every few days.

So i guess this should be called "The Frankenstein Diet" because it's made up of parts of a lot of different ones. I just hope Frankenstein doesn't turn on me!

Thanks for the encouragement guys- the only thing today that I did wrong was have some skim milk in my coffee eeek. I dumped the rest of it and I'm done with that for today- nothing tastes as good as thin feels, not even coffee. I can't drink it black so I will have to do without it.

Can someone take a look at this so far:
Breakfast: Egg, slice of turkey
Lunch: 5 oz chicken breast (on the bone), no skin

For some reason, I either use a little bit of half n half (like 1-2 carbs) OR I use my fave, creamora (powdered version of creamer, 1-2 carbs) and it never affects my weight loss. I just make sure to drink only 1 cup of coffee a day, 2 if I'm realllllly craving it.

OK, I'm still trying to get to know everybody. I'm gonna be watching how you do maintenance, because I sure didn't have a clue after losing 60 on Atkins. I must have maintained for only 6 months or so. I did eat low-carb most of the time, but every time I went off plan I gained, and didn't lose it! 3 and a half years later, back to my old weight.

Sharon: So sorry about your puppy!! Yeah, that's when I would have hit the comfort foods! Should have had a Milk Bone....

Welcome, GarnetBeauty!

It's still a good idea to read the book, but don't wait until then to start. These people on this board will steer you through! I wish I had a book, I read it about a year ago, but it was on interlibrary loan. I should prolly order it again, just to get a refresher on the finer points.
Good luck, and happy losing!
