Hi Ladies!

I am getting ready to join you tomorrow... I'm kind of nervous, even though I ate very similar to this in Feb/March and was very successful.... I think it's just the psychology. I need to not look at it as "strict" or "deprivation" but "simple" and "effective"! I am stocked up on: tuna, eggs, cottage cheese, chicken breasts; I also bought some skirt steak to tenderize in a marinade, and planning on buying some salmon and cedar planks. I CAN DO IT!!!!!

Right?

I feel horrible for your friend. She sounds positive and strong. Im sure she will be fine. As for you, try not to think about it. I know its tough but you are gonna get back perfect results. For something so important, why do we have to wait. it sucks.

I have a Tanita Body Monitor scale and it measures fat%, hydration, muscle mass, bone mass and estimates your required # of calories for the day to maintain current weight. It also estimates real age, but only goes to 50 years old, so, since I'm 56 it's not really accurate for me. I'm glad when I see the 50, but I have no idea if that's even close. Most people tell me I look 40 but that's because I have good skin.

Your scale sounds awesome! Mine only does body fat... and it isn't very accurate. When I actually went to get the hydro test, I tested about 3% lower than what my scale said. But it's good to see the up/down trend.

Having good skin/ youthful appearance is awesome! I'm 39 but people think I look younger (although I suspect a lot of it is due to my height).

Oh, Yam starts the day with a ramble! hee-hee. We love chatty! We ARE chatty, we LOVE chatty!

I'd like to hear more about Lyle McDonald's program. I googled him yesterday after reading your first post. Sounds like his rapid fat loss program is pretty close or maybe identical to Stillman? Have you read Stillman's QWL book?

i have not read stillman but I would like to. My library doesn't have it. I see that Amazon has some used copies from overseas sellers.

Lyle is very knowledgable and has great articles on his site. There's a forum too... and a whole thread for people who want to post their pics and have others estimate their bodyfat %! I would never do it, but it's funny to read.

Lean protein, no carbs, low fat, lots of hydration. That's the bottom line.

As far as menus, there is a sticky on this site with some really good menus. That's where I got my idea for ground beef & cheese omelets.

Stillman also has a Protein-Plus plan. That is outlined in his 14 Day Shape-Up book. Basically it's the high protein with some veggies, milk, higher fat meats and even wine that are not included in the original QWL plan. He says you won't lose as quickly on Protein-Plus, but you will lose. And you will build muscle.

Maybe I will do a few days of the regular program and switch to Protein Plus. I want to build muscle!!!

I am curious, is anyone else measuring their bodyfat? Does it go down about the same as the weight?

Thanks,
Sally

Lay on your back with your knees bent and legs in the air, cross feet one over the other
Slowely bed at the waist using your ab muscles until your head is a few inches off the ground
Hold pose for a few second, release

Well i've only eaten beef roast so far since this is day 1.

I don't eat cottage cheese. I bought chix, plan on baking with WF bbq sauce. I am not sure about the rest yet.

Anybody use protein powder on this diet?

I dont think so but I am very curious about it. I've been holding on to a Designer Way, Choc Caramel PB Powder.... I bought it a week before I started QWL, and never ever tried it. Im afraid I'll like it.

But...Im also unsure if it would fill me up. I have a need to chew and I would probably drink the shake then eat a whole bowl of beef. Sorry I dint answer your question..... anyone????
