Vent away. .that's what we are here for! We all have our own little Hell to overcome. Men just seem to add to the mix (Sorry, Thomas, Dustin-we try to be gender neutral but there are just some things that we must air - feel free to share your frustrations with us, too

Sorry to hear about your baby!! It is quite understandable that you would turn to something. . but I am so happy to see you are back on plan! Don't let anyone else bring you down! You deserve only good things and you deserve to be happy! to you until you feel better!

so here I am munching away on my ground beef and doing some more reserach on the good ole thyroid
Symptoms of hypothyroidism usually appear slowly over months or years. Symptoms and signs may include:

Coarse and thinning hair. Dry skin. Brittle nails. A yellowish tint to the skin. Slow body movements. Cold skin. Inability to tolerate cold. Feeling tired, sluggish, or weak. Memory problems, depression, or difficulty concentrating. Constipation.
Heavy or irregular menstrual periods that may last longer than 5 to 7 days.
Other, less common symptoms may include:

An enlarged thyroid gland (goiter). Modest weight gain, often 10 lb (4.5 kg) or less.
Swelling of the arms, hands, legs, and feet, and facial puffiness, particularly around the eyes. Hoarseness. Muscle aches and cramps.
In general, how bad your symptoms are depends on your age, how long you have had hypothyroidism, and the seriousness of the condition. The symptoms may be so mild and happen so slowly that they go unnoticed for years. The older you are, the more likely you are to notice symptoms.

Mild (subclinical) hypothyroidism often causes no symptoms or vague symptoms that may be attributed to aging, such as memory problems, dry skin, and fatigue.

Isn't it amazing. . a lot of those symptoms I have attributed to getting older, stress and lack of sleep!!! Maybe I'm not as crazy as I thought. .I also heard that this is more common than I thought. .

So, if you are having any symptoms. Go get checked! Actually, from what I understand, you should make an appointment with your doctor before or during your weight loss journey. Can't hurt, can it?

Im so sorry to hear about your son. How old is he? I never paid much attention to those % averages. Each child will develop on his/her own path and just when the timing is right for them. My kids were never average on any measure and it didnt do me any good to worry about it. 5 years later they are progressing just fine. I hope everything works out for him the same.

And to heck with the ex! Sticking to plan will be the best ammunition and payback. Tell him to gett of YOUR darn lawn!!!

IM2- thats a lot of thyroid info to swallow! I am still so happy that you went to the doc. The 24th cant come quick enough! (I would have done the same thing and thought it was getting older and to much stress)

Just checking in after my BRUTAL day! The potluck was really hard...but I stayed all lc with salad, pizza cheese and toppings, celery and dip. Went back to my office when dessert came out...didn't even look at all the bags of chips (my #1 weakness)... I still feel like a slug tonight. Just had two cups of green tea with lemon and ginger...YUM!

I was feeling really skinny today...could pull down my slacks without unzipping... I weighed this morning and was just a smidge over 150!!!!! I am sure after all the junk today, it will go back up, but that felt really good.

I just feel like crap...my legs are all achey...fighting with hubby, crabbier than
shi#! I think I may just go to bed...

PS...Loved all the new avi's...

I was feeling very weird today. Had a hard time making a sentence, kept stuttering, felt goofy and like I had brain fog. I checked my blood sugar and it was at 52!!!! I quickly ate a small handful of trail mix with nuts and a few raisins in it. Drank some water and checked it again 40 minutes later. It was at 110. The only thing I did different today was drink the green tea. I wonder if it is dropping my blood sugar to low. I don't consider my trail mix a cheat and had stuck with stillmans all day very faithfully! I will drink extra water tomorrow, cut out the green tea and see if it makes a difference. I haven't had a problem with my blood sugar since starting this until now. Well I am off to bed! goodnight my LC buddies!

Missy - You really are a super woman!!! 9 children and 7 still at home!!!!! I can only imagine the frustration you feel about your sons difficulties. But, take heart - i am a firm believer that with proper nurture at home he is well able to become more articulate. You seem to be a caring mother - all of your children are blessed to have you!

Lisa - Oh my - i have felt like that before. I am with Kath - how long had it been since you had eaten? Maybe add in a couple ounces of fat. It helped with my difficulties earlier on - I just didn't lose as fast.

IM2 - I am so glad that you finally have found what is impeding your weight loss! It's easy as we get older to blame our symptoms on age! Aren't you glad you did finally go to the dr. and get all that blood work done?
