Mork: Don't consider it a wasted day! Take it for what it was and just do the best you can for the rest of the day. That was always my problem, saying to myself.. well. . I already blew it so I'll start over tomorrow! Start over today! Each meal counts and each meal brings you that much closer to success! Yes! Do the treadmill, drink water. .but don't give up. . Too easy to do. . You can do it. .No one is perfect..

MS. .I know what you mean about having too many diet books. . my bookshelf, kitchen, family room and bedroom are full of them. To top it off, I get WW magazine, prevention and various others. I should be a dietician or something! hehehe I want the QWL book too but I know it probably has all the same info we already know. Some how reading it in a book makes it so much more official. .

Don't abandon us, Cat, Azura, Mrs. . strength in numbers, ya know!

I sure hope a storm didn't get Al and Dustin or something. .I hear its been brutal in areas!

Quick: Someone say something.. We need some inspiration and motivation! I'm still suffering carb withdrawal and ginormous cravings. .I've eaten my way through eggs, tuna, ham, steak, chicken and more tuna.. Drank about 8 cups of tea. 5 bottles of water and one big honkin cup 0 coffee and I could still eat a few more chicken breasts . .I will so never eat carbs again. ((((crossing my fingers behind my back )))))

Hello Everyone,

It's been a rough day yesterday! I was paged into the office at 2:00 am in the morning. A computer system went down. I left work at noon and I was feeling tired and stressed out. I stopped by this restaurant on the way home and I pigged out on a giant tenderloin sandwich and curly fries. Today, I went onto fat fast to get my body back into fat burning mode. I plan to remain on fat fast for 3 days and then switch back to Stillman's QWL.

I am starting to feel better now after a long sleep. I went into the office today and I just de-stressed myself. I rode my exercise bike for 6 miles a couple of hours ago. I drank lots of water throughout the day.

I wish everyone a pleasant evening and I'll report back in tomorrow!

-Dustin

Hi, TeaLady here for the first time. I started the Stillman diet on Monday and came to the web today to see if there was support and "viola" there you all are. May I join you?? I'd like to lose about 30 pounds in about 70 days and I'm hoping that Stillman will work for me again. I used this years ago with much success, now 20 years later I'll give it a whirl again. The scale already recorded a one pound loss from yesterday. This is day two for me.

Now..looking ahead... how shall I manage my irritability when it comes? Is there a pill for that? HA!

For all of you who want to give in tonight, DO NOT be tempted by eating the tasty foods that lead you down that chubby road. Look at all the hard work and will power you have had up to this point and persevere!

The other thing to try to avoid is eating more than one piece of sugary food if you have caved in. If you DO backslide, do it in less than one hour's time ONLY....preferably in 1/2 hour so the insulin spike is short-lived! I swear Ive been on binges that led to my thinking, "its too late now, I already ate this bad food.. I can start again tomorrow; tonight its party-time!" Notice I said "tonight." Oh the evenings can be dreadful! However, I also remember times that I didnt cave in, and I wasnt any worse for the wear in the morning. I was proud that I hung in there!

Im so looking forward to that feeling of ketosis where even an egg nauseates me. Which reminds me, Id better find my multi-vit's. This is gonna be a crazy ride!

Night all and stay strong!!

I just have to say something. .you all mention ketosis kicking in. . How do you know when that happens? I know it may appear weird that I'm asking after I've been doing this darn diet for so long but I'm wondering if I missed something along the way. I even bought those little strippy things and never did make it off tan.. barely a trace. . Mmmm - just curious. I know I'm weird so the norm is rarely the norm for me. . (Like I gain 9 pounds in 2 days!). .Good news is: I weighed this morning and am now only up 3 from my stats! Whew. . perhaps I'll be back on track by Sunday. .(((crossing my fingers and toes and whatever else needs crossing!)))

You did something positive and exercised! congrats! I'm still procrastinating. .

Good morning everyone!!!

I woke up to a headache and some major nausea!!! But, it is slowly going away. Don't know if I am in deep ketosis or what! I couldn't even finish my coffee it just tasted gross to me!

I have finished off a diet coke and that settled my stomach a little - I may have to even have another.

But, my lf cottage cheese/sf jello hit the spot. I know I am weird!

Dustin - Stress is my downfall!!! I tend to cave on my eating when I am under stress. So, I totally know how you feel. Just don't jump off the wagon and never get back on!

IM - When my ketosis really kicks in - I feel slightly nauseated. My pee (sorry) smells strange and I have a metallic taste in my mouth. I can almost always confirm this when I use the strips- which I haven't used in a while!

Mrs. Nadal - sometimes my ketosis doesn't truly kick in until the 5th day and then it seems to diminish around TOM!!!

Shannon and TeaLady - It is always nice to have new friends on this board!

AL - Where are you????

GT - Are you coming back to us???

Okay - gonna go try to locate another diet coke. I never drink this much of them but this nausea is kicking my tail and I canNOT be nauseated in my line of work!!

Morning All...

I got my PM mile walk in yesterday, had deli turkey for lunch, a little bit o' cheese, two eggs, and two thin cut steaks for dinner. Had to gag them down. I ended up having to just get out of the house, so I didn't find more food to eat 'cause I was STARVING last night.

I am down 2 more pounds today! I am back to where I was before the holidays, now to keep it up so I can be rid of all this extra me.

msgirl - I eat my Cottage cheese with S/F Jell-o too! so you are normal to me. I am totally too, which means ketosis has already set in. I can only get my water in when I mix it with S/F drink mix. I have both books and reread them all the time they really gives me encouragement, especially the Doctor's Quick Weight Loss Diet.

IM2fat - We have two buildings connected by a hallway so 4 times back and forth is a mile. I can do it in about 15 minutes, so it is a nice way to get off my butt and do something other than work.

Mork - Don't worry get back on track you can do it. I agree, if you can make it passed Day 3 you can do it.

Too everyone else, stick with it, it will work for you.

Hello - I'm a newby, Thanks for welcoming me. I actually posted this morning but when I pushed the Post Quick button the whole thing went somewhere in cyber-space but not on this board.....grrrrrrrrr! I'll learn. I think I'll post in smaller posts though so if something doesn't post I won't spend my time for nothing.

I started the Stillman QWL diet on Monday of this week and am already down 2 pounds. I have 27 more to go.

IM2fat - You asked me to share how Stillman has worked in the past. I am 52 years old and used this diet in my 20's to take off the 5-8 pounds that I would gain over the winter months. I live in a cold climate (Minnesota) and tend to hunker-down in the winter instead of getting out there and keeping fit in the 3 feet of snow that we seem to aquire over the winter.

So almost every spring I would dedicate about 7-10 days to get my winter flab off and it always worked, quickly.....that's what I love about the Stillman is that the weight comes off QUICKLY :Kicking

OOooo. .I was beginning to worry, thinking you were snowed out of your home or something. I am sorry for your friend and send her way and yours! This Holiday season has been tough for a lot of people close to me, too, so 2010 has to be better~!

Now we have to find our other Pink Lady!! Dustin is checked in and accounted for and MS has given me a good talking to! Dont' forget to take time to take care of yourself, too!

I'll share a few tips that I've learned over the years with the Stillman diet that help me. Maybe they will help someone else too.

1 - I always start the diet the night before, after supper. The reason is that I find it easier to get through the first few hours of deprevation while I sleep. I always eat my evening meal then when I feel the need to snack that evening I choose eggs (for me that is 2 eggs beaten then cooked omlet style. The other thing I use is colby cheese. I limit myself to 2 slices a day but they really save me and always seem to work with the Stillman diet. The key is to choose a cheese that has zero carbs. You could choose Swiss, Cheddar, Colby and any other as long as it has no carbs. By starting the night before I find that snacking on pure protein causes my blood sugar levels to stabalize and I don't wake up the next morning famished. My body has already had about 10 hours of the fasting and is ready to go on the whole program better.

Thank you for sharing! I live in Michigan and we get quite an accumulation as well. The part of Michigan I used to live in was snow covered for almost 7 months out of the year. . Winter just never seemed to end! I moved a little further south because too much cold = too much fat for me!! I needed something to keep me warm.

Anyway, keep us posted on your progress. .Us middle agers have to stick together because our metabolisms don't work the same as they used to.

Awesome. .I'm ashamed to admit we have a Gym in our building. We aren't allowed to play sports or anything (Liability or something stupid) but we can walk in it. The reason i quit using it is because it is in the secure area and the control room used to watch me on the cameras. .yuckkjkk. .but I got a co-worker to agree to start walking at least once a week with me and she agreed! Baby steps, I guess, are better than nothing.

2 - The other thing I do is that I use real butter to cook my eggs. I used to get really burned out on the boiled eggs so one time I tried frying my eggs in butter and I still lost the weight. Here's what I do: I use about 1 tsp of butter (not margarine, again zero carbs) and melt it in my skillet. Then I whip 2 eggs in a small bowl and add them to the pan with the melted, hot butter in it. I cook the eggs omlet style then when they are finished cooking on both sides I pat off the extra butter with a paper towel. By cooking the eggs this way you get great flavor and only a small amount of the fat. By doing this I actually look forward to the eggs so it doesn't feel like I'm dieting.

Hi IM2Fat
It looks like we are on the same goal track. We both desire to get back to 135 pounds. You're about 10 pounds ahead of me. We can cheer each other on to the goal.

Michigan....yep that is a cold place on the planet too. I used to live in Indiana so we always talked about those "poor Michigan folks getting slammed by the lake effect snow".

I'm off to a good start on the Stillman QWL - In two days I'm down 2 pounds. Yippee !!!!

Tea: those 10 pounds will be nothing for you so maybe we are on the same track! I lose very, very , very slow! I lost most of the initial weight on Atkins but switched to Stillmans after I experienced a "stall" and deep down I realized the fat wasn't good for you. ... I've had a few gains along the way but I want to be back on track 110%. .I've been stuck (up and down) at the same weight far too long. .time to move on. I wasn't sweating it too much because I was getting used to the new me and I figure the longer it takes to come off, the longer it'll stay off! I've never been one for fad diets (always a tried and true Weight Watchers follower) but I've found as I get older, it gets tougher and tougher. I realized it was time for something new. . My plan is to be within 10 pounds of goal and then slowly start adding "good" carbs back in. I know, it sounds like a good plan. . if I only stick to it!!

So. .I'm all for the buddy system!!! Let's kick this fat in the butt!!!

3 - Another thing that helps me is that I never let myself get hungry. In the first 2 days if I am hungry I eat the foods that we are allowed to have. Yes, I get a little bit hungry and that is okay but I never let myself get to that starving feeling.

4 - If I feel nausiated and really yucky I've learned to add a little bit of carbs, like some green beans (1/2 - 1 cup) to slow down the ketosis a little bit. That ketosis can really feel icky, and that can mean that your body is struggling to deal with that level of ketosis so if you give it a little bit of good carbs that yucky feeling will pass and you will still lose. Do not choose candy or sugar though. Choose a green vegetable and wait 20 minutes and see if you don't feel better, if you still need a little more eat another vegetable with just a little more starch, like 1/3 cup of peas or corn. You'll feel better quickly then just keep going with the Stillman protein choices. If you don't go to the sugars you will still lose weight but don't do the vegetables every day if you can help it. Once your body gets stabilized to the full protein load you won't have to add the veggies.
