Thanks Mrs. N - For the info on refeeds....very interesting. It makes me remember something they told us in Weight Watchers. They said to mix up your food choices and calorie counts so your metabolism would be tricked into working more efficiently. They said never do the same calorie count everyday (for example 1200 every day) or your body will think that is your new norm. When you do 1200, 1400, 1600, 1000, 1300 etc then your body doesn't go into the protective mode thinking that it is starving. The refeed sort of works on that principal. Thanks

Hi dancer! Get better already!!!! Ive been sick for two weeks straight! I feel ok but I have this horrible barking cough all night long. I dont even have a sore throat. Its the cough that never goes away!

Would also like to add that Ive been taking different over the counter medicines. Definitely contributing to my scale not moving..

Oh Shannon......I'm really starting to crave a good salad, but I'm sticking to the plan for a few more days then will have one. Probably I'll do the salad on Monday. I have to be gone all day, traveling, so I know I'll have a hard time sticking to Stillman's QWL on that day. I'm thinking that I might use it as a refeed day, planning to do:

eggs for breakfast, cheese for snacks, salad on the road and a burger for supper. It's a plan , we'll see how it all shakes out. Then back on Stillman on Tuesday.

Hey, anybody....in the threads I see mention of a turkey and chicken soup. Does anyone know that recipe. Some soup sure sounds good if it is legal.

Here you go TL:

After I roast the turkey, and take all the meat off the bones, I fill the pot with water an inch past the bones. I read somewhere to add vinegar to pull the nutrients from the bones, so I do. A few splashes, at that. Add salt. Bring to just a boil, then simmer for hours. (like 4-5) The more you let it boil down, the more turkey flavored it is. When its almost done, I strain it and then I add pepper, italian seasoning or herbs de provence, and onion powder. Sometimes celery seed/salt. Cook 5-10 minutes more after adding the seasonings. Taste test, add more herbs if you like. Once the broth is done, you need to let it cool in the fridge for a while, then you can skim all the chunky fat off the top. The broth will turn to a gelatin in the fridge, so you'll then have to reheat and add the chopped turkey.

I have done it with and without vinegar and I didnt notice a difference as far as taste. I used approx. 1/4 cup.

I think your taste buds are out of whack from all this boring food we've been eating. Anything beside chicken and tuna would taste heavenly.

I think I need to go on a turkey soup cleanse. I lost lots of weight on it. I feel like I ate it for weeks straight.

Mrs N and AL - Oh my gosh....thank you for the soup recipe. You are not going to believe this but I have it in my mug and am sipping right now. You see, I always boil out the bird when I roast turney and chicken so I had a few bags of defatted broth in my freezer. So I got one (about a half gallon), melted it down, added the spices and yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !!!!! I have chicken in the crockpot right now that will be ready in about 2 hours and I'll add some of that meat (maybe all of it) then but for now the clear soup will do just fine. It's freezing cold today in Minnesota -10 or something close to that) and I'm such a soup lover so this is really hitting the spot. Thank you both sooooooooo much. Legal, hot, and tasty.....who could ask for anything more??????

Al - No really, the Farmer's cheese is really yummy. I got it at my local natural food store and oh man is it ever good. It's a real discipline for me to limit myself to just a couple ounces a day. It has a totally boring name (Farmer's Cheese). It should be called Aseolaro Cheese, then it would have a great inquisitive name and everyone would try it....you know like all the other cheeses that have strange names.

Beef broth, I buy. There's always a small carb count in it, unfortunately. I just make sure theres no sugar.

I just put the chicken pieces in the soup. Oh my gosh, I'm in heaven. This will definately keep me from getting bored with the food selection. Soup in the winter is just a "must have" and now I "can have". Thanks

I take capsules or tablets of everything.. I just don't think I could choke down liquid. . . . One with breakfast and another at night if I remember (which is rare. . ). . . I really haven't noticed any side effects. .

Mrs N - thanks for those links on the refeed! Very interesting! I had already read Slatman's take on it and I have incorporated a refeed a few times. That being said, getting back off of the carbs was not easy - not gonna lie to you!

But, my weight loss has been pretty steady even though I only have a small amount to lose. I think if you could do it knowing the very next day you are gonna be super strict on Stillman's again then it may prove somewhat beneficial. It sure helped me during the holidays

Im2 - I am so glad it's friday as well!!! It has been a long hard week Gonna have movie night tonight with the family and got me some chicken w/ Tony's sprinkled on it in the crockpot. I have 4 breasts in there and I may eat them all!!! I have been starving the last couple of days. I wonder if it's my B-12?!?!?!?

TeaLady - Congrats on your losses! I just got my Dr.'s Inches off book in the mail and it had a lot of stuff about the QWL diet. I haven't had time to read through it yet but I hope to do so this weekend.
AL - I hope your cold goes away soon! I bet your scale not moving has a lot to do with that nasty cold!!!

MS! We must be twinkies! We are having movie night too! Watching Confessions of a Shopoholic .. actually. quite fitting for me this evening! (except the debt part - Thank goodness!)

I just took more stuff for donations and walked out with 10 more items! (They were having the 5 for 5 sale, again - how can a girl, resist?!). . The good news: I did donate more than I took home so I guess I'm still ahead.. . (Gold high heels. . one can never have too many gold shoes. . ). .

Perhaps I do need some therapy or bigger closets! It is quite overwhelming to try stuff on and actually have a choice!. . very weird feeling. .I don't have to settle on moo. . moo's and stretch pants!

Nermo - Way to go !!!!! Keep it up. That is terrific. You just had to get up over the hump and it looks like you are there.

It's late but I'm going to post in my daily results. It's been a so-so day. I've had trouble all day with not having any energy. I get that way when I'm too deep into ketosis. I've had this problem in the past and by adding a few carbs I come out of it pretty quickly. So tonight, after a good day of staying totally legal I had popcorn while we watched a movie. Usually I would have green beans but everyone was having popcorn so I dived in. I feel better but we'll see what the scale reveals in the morning.

So my day consisted of:

B'fast - 1 oz cheddar cheese
1 oz Farmers cheese
Lunch - 2 eggs
late afternoon - 2 ps chicken thighs made into the chicken soup recipe (delicious)
Evening - 8 cups of popcorn
Lots of tea and water
No exercise because I'm giving my back a break from scooping snow.

Not many people posting tonight. It's Friday so everyone must be out and about.

Nermo - Some encouragement for you. I found this on one of the other Stillman boards.

I lost 30+ pounds in less than 8 weeks. So, yes, Stillman's is a great kickstart or stall breaker!

Her starting weight was just slightly lower than yours so this should be encouragement of how much you can expect to lose (or more) if you stay true to Stillman.

I just thought this might be encouraging for you to see.

So 266-30= 236 by the end of February. Pretty cool huh????

Good morning everyone!!!! Today was weigh-in day. Down one pound and updating stats to make it stick!

Im thawing chicken breast and ground beef for when I get back home tonight. Anyone ever mix the two? Im hoping the chicken takes on a whole new flavor cooked up with the beef, and it'll cut down on the fat I consume at a sitting. Maybe I'll throw it in some chcken broth for beefy chicken soup!

Have a great day!

Did someone say gold shoes? Niiiice!
