Ok. .I'll admit it.. I was not very good last night! Started off with a bang. I took the kids trick or treating and then stopped at a friends house. They were all having adult type cocktails so I decided. . What the heck. . (its no carb . mixed with diet pepsi and I know it burns before the fat so just a small delay).. Anyway, I get there and she has homemade treats all over the place including the biggest pan of rocky road brownies you'd ever see. . cooling on the table right in front of me. MMmm. .warm . oeeyy, gooey chocolate... I did great . .kindly refused and enjoyed my spirits.. . OK . night over.. we piled the kids into the van (my 15 year old drove us home . love the built in DD driver). . and then it hit me. .I caved. . My well meaning friend loaded us up with the biggest brownies ever and I decided one bite wouldn't hurt. .One bite led to another until I had eaten the whole thing! The bad part about it was I didn't even enjoy it because I was a little too tipsy to savor the moment! Uggg. . ![]() The flip side. . I got up and weighed myself this morning and was down another whole pound!!!! What the heck? - I say to myself.. maybe chocolate is good for you. . hehehe. . Naw. .I know.. just hoping. . Well. .I learned a valuable lesson. . Do not drink rum and sit by rocky road brownies! Whew. . I feel so much better getting that off my shrinking chest!!

I think the rain scared away the trick or treaters. But we will take the leftovers to work tomorrow and then they will be gone.
I did have some veggies yesterday, but today 1 November I am back to all meat and eggs. I'll weigh tomorrow morning. Let's get over October and look forward to new weight loss this month. Hang in there ladies!!!! -Lynne |

Hi Gang!
Getting There: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and congrats on your AMAZING progress. Losing 100 pounds, to me, would be like completing a marathon: something few people can say they've done and something that will always be with you to show you how much you are capable of accomplishing. You too are a ROCKSTAR! IM2fat: THANKS for the new thread! And do NOT feel bad about rum and brownies; you still lost a pound, after all! You know what's weird: I've had that happen to me before -- you're being perfect on you diet, then have a cheat, and still lose. It almost seems like your body is in such weight-loss mode that it just churns up the extra calories and just keeps going (of course it only ever happens once)! Beth -- sounds like you're doing great! So happy to hear the cheerful tone of your posts! Everyone else -- ROCK ON!!! p.s. Thou shalt receive the next Thin Commandment tomorrow. |

Hey Man!
Sign me up for the brownie, rum Stillmans! I'd take that any day of the wt. loss week! ![]() ![]() ! Ah, but then day 2-3, the gains come and so does the depression! I know it all too well! Heck, I can't take the stalls even when I'm 100 % on plan! But, don't be too hard on yourself, IM! We all have to live and forgive ourselves for being human. Heck, I love brownies and rum myself! I will be making my own LC versions and partaking in a bit of the spirits myself come Christmas![]() ![]() I'm so happy it's November 1st! Yippy! I'm so excited for Christmas as this will be the time I hit 125-130! It makes me wanta jump out of my skin with excitement! I already have my Thanksgiving outfit picked out! I want to buy this new Gap brown and orange plaid mini-skirt, size 0 and wear it with my leapard cashmere sweater and leapard pumps! Oh, and faux Victoria Secret blk fishnet panty hose! I held the skirt up to my body and I know it will fit by then. Gap always has vanity sizing so their 0 is more like a 2-4! Got it all planned out! Can't wait! I'll take a pic for you all! !It's 85 here in LA! Not what I'd call in the spirit weather! Have a wonderful day! ![]()

Sorry you're sick Al! But, hey, your down so that's a nice trade off! I bet you won't gain it back as you are eating only lean protein. Sometimes when we're sick our bodies are using all that extra energy to get well. It isn't water wt. for sure as you've lost all that!
Well, I'm down. .4 today! Yippy! It's like Christmas! Hey IM, did you lb. stick? Sure hope so. I love it when things like that happen. Have a great day all! KUTGW! Hugs, Beth ![]() |

Speaking of T-day, my prayers were answered today: I found out that Krogers sells complete cooked Thanksgiving dinners, ranging in size and side-dishes. Since I don't cook (I was lucky enough to marry someone who happily eats frozen dinners and fast food) I had to keep myself from jumping up and down in the store! So, it will be a 5K Turkey Trot in the morning, and insta-dinner in the afternoon. Yay! (My mom is coming and has no idea that she will be partaking in both. he, he.)
Beth -- I love leaopard print! Last winter I got a leapord print coat at Nordstroms for HALF price!!! Love, love, love it! Yay Aleriaaa on the lossages! (may or may not be a word.) You might as well get something for all your misery. I'm STILL 122.5! But it's day #5 of you-know-what so I'm expecting a whoosh this week. Later, babes! |

Okee, dokee, girls, Thin Commandment Numero Cinco:
Separate Food from Mood *Don't buy snacks you habitually abuse when you are stressed *Keep tempting snack foods (that you might have on hand for family members) out of sight *Keep healthy snack foods available *Pick up the phone, and chat with a friend instead of picking up a chip or a cookie (OR, I might add, get online and reach out here!) *Practice yoga, weed your garden, knit (I do this!), or do some other activity instead of stress eating *Switch to a stress food substitute that won't make you fat *Talk yourself out of mood eating (p. 68) Gullo says, "I will never tell you that the foods you choose to eat as mood lifters don't have a pleasurable taste. They do. But nothing tastes better than looking in the mirror every morning and feeling proud of what you see. Food pleasure is fleeting, and I've yet to meet the stress eater who is happy with his behavior or himself for doing it!" (69).'' "What mood eaters want is an IMMEDIATE change in their feelings. That's why it's about SNACKING, not real food, and it's about snacking on what's easiest to get into your mouth..." (70) "Common patterns of mood eating: *Same food: mood eaters return time and time again to their favorite snack food *Same place: mood meaters eat alone in the kitchen *Same time of day: Mood eating is done in the late afternoon or evening, almost never in the morning *Same mood: It's feelings of anxiety, anger, frustration betrayal, disappointment, or boredom that are the common triggers for mood eating *Same people: Mood eaters snack b/c they become stressed by the same people over and over again (boss, partner, child, relative, friend) *Same situation: mood eaters snack b/c they become stressed by the same situations over and over again, even b/c of boredom *Same quantities of food: Mood eating is almost always about volume *Same reason: Mood eaters want a treat or comfort from food. That is why mood eating is almost always dfone with a food they buy and bring home for themselves, even if they may believe they bought it for others, especially family or company." "Once you realize your mood eating is totally predictable, you can control it with strategy!" "The best palce to end mood eating is not a psychiatrist's couch. It's at the supermarket...The interesting and even wonderful thing about ending the pattern of mood eaing is that when snacks aren't immediately available, almost all mood eaters automatically busy themselves with a noneating activity...In the end, no matter what the burdens or stresses of your life may be, you can't eat what's not there!" (all of the above, p. 72) Strategies for Snack Foods: *Toss out the mood snacks in your kitchen right now and do not re-stock *If you absolutely must keep snacks in your home for other people, here are proven strategies to keep you from eating them: -- Ask the others in your house for permission (weird choice of word, to me) to buy a type of snack that is not your favorite or that you are unlikely to abuse -- Keep snack foods out of sight, NEVER on the kitchen counter --Ask those in your immediate family not to snack in front of you --Have family members hide tempting snack foods if you're given to grazing (my hubby has me do this when he's dieting) --If nothing else works, lock all snacks in a cash box wit ha combo lock, and make sure only those who eat the snacks have the combination (for some reason, I think this is a cool idea) --Keep healthy snack foods available so you're not tempted to go on to the fattening ones (pp. 73 - 74) Strategies for Stress on the Horizon *Write out what you will eat for that day in advance. Direct your psyche to think in terms of these foods only and to avoid all others. *Plan which snacks you are going to eat and keep all others out of sight *Plan to avoid trouble (p. 75) Best Activities to Block Stress Eating *Knitting and crocheting *Warm bath or shower *Playing a Game Boy *Playing with a pet *Saying a favorite prayer *Keeping a diary *Sending e-mails to friends *Going online to learn about something that interests you *Having sex (Yay!) *Stretching and exercising, especially with hand weights *Meditation or yoga *Squeezing a rubber ball *Watching a video or reading a book *Playing an instrument *Shopping for items you enjoy (other than food) (P. 77) "If you can't stop it, switch it" i.e. if you must snack, choose "legal" foods (P. 78) Finally, I thought this observation at the end of this chapter was compelling: "One of the most destructive aspects of mood eating goes almost totally unrecognized: Mood eating deceives us into living as mimics. When someon hurts or disappoints you, you then disappoint yourself by breaking with you weight program and gaining weight simply b/c you were eating over their behavior. It's rather ironic that when we eat b/c someone or something has made us angry or upset, we then also get angry with ourselves for doing it. It's a no-win pattern" (p. 81). Tomorrow, Thin Commandment Number Six: Take Control of Your Favorite Foods |

Hi Daisy! Thanks for the post-God this guy really makes a lot of sense.
Gullo says, " But nothing tastes better than looking in the mirror every morning and feeling proud of what you see. Food pleasure is fleeting, and I've yet to meet the stress eater who is happy with his behavior or himself for doing it!" (69).'' That is so true-and seriosly becoming my mantra if I want to eat something off-plan! "The best palce to end mood eating is not a psychiatrist's couch. It's at the supermarket... so funny!! ![]() -- Keep snack foods out of sight, NEVER on the kitchen counter Was thinking of that too-if I want to buy stuff for X-mas-I don't want it looking at me for a month-I seriously have no willpower if there's choccie in the fridge!- -Ask those in your immediate family not to snack in front of you --Have family members hide tempting snack foods if you're given to grazing (my hubby has me do this when he's dieting) My Mum did that for me too-then I would find sweet papers ![]() Can't wait for the next installment! xx |

Wooppeeeee.. I'm home all alone for the evening. . I decided I'm not going to cook no matter what.. and no one can make me.
Beth: I decided to skip the scale this morning.. I'm putting in a good day today so that that pesky pound will be history. . gone. gone. gone. . I did some more clothes shopping in my garage! Goodness.. I used to be one little hotty!! What good taste I had. .Heheheh. .I kept some and donated the rest. I figure if I get down to those sizes again. I deserve new stuff! My motivation shall be new clothes. .of course, with new clothes, I'll probably need new jewels, too!! Heheheh Sure beats buying socks. . . ![]() OK. lets have a binge free-cheat free week. . whose in? Time to recruit some more victims. Little do they know that this is one addictive thread! Thank you for the commandment. I shall obey! |

Yeah! Denise! I wish I could have another baby! Not in the cards for me...
IM, you crack me up! I was doing the same thing today, cleaning out my closet. I'm going to get rid of those crappy bigger sizes that I have worn the last yr.! If I ever get that big again, I'm going to buy new ones, is what I was thinking! lolo. I hate ugly fat clothes! Al, are you better today!? Gettin' how's the weather in Ireland? I went to Dublin with the Indigo Girls and REM! I was a singer and they were on tour and I went with them. It was a trip! I actually had my first and last Guiness in Irland with the Indigo Girls! ![]() ! It was a trip as everyone was parting like crazy on Sat. night then come Sun. morning, the streets were dead! Heard people barfing throught the night as well! Oh, the good times...I was reading up on how an all protein diet takes something like 260 more calories a day just to digest all the protein. I'm glad to hear this as I am consuming over 100 mg. a day and like 1200 cals! Still losing but was wondering about all that protein. Hang in there Daisy! You'll get your whooshie! It'll be a big one, I can feel it! Here's to another day down. Hopefully, I'll be down tomorrow! Have a wonderful night ladies. Sleep well!
