Saturday: Guy friend was over...spent the day working on small projects on my house and then took the fishing boat to the lake! It was a nice 75 degrees here with sunshine...unheard of for November! Didn't catch enough fish for supper though!
![]() B- eggs over easy, coffee L- pork country style ribs (barbeque) D- pork steaks (barbeque again!) When I recycled on Stillmans with Atkins I just really added some vegetables like brocolli and cabbage and onions with my hamburgers and had some great salads....I eat alot of beef because my son raises his own and butchers 2x's a year...red and black angus !! I am starting to eat more pork though as that is what my boyfriend seems to prefer when he cooks and I am not complaining!! The added vegetables was enough to keep me on track when I went back on Stillmans!

Jenger WTG!! Awesome job. I plan to be right behind you!
Thank you, getting there! I'm going to work on myself this week and not worry so much about everyone else. It is about me (at least for a little while!) B - 2 scrambled eggs (used cooking spray - is that legal?) 1/2 Oz ham 1 Tbls - reduced sugar Ketchup (1 carb) 2 cups BLACK Coffee 1 Bottle Water (plain) followed by 8 oz crystal light. .(I'm very thirsty this morning??) I've decided to keep a food diary to see if I can find any obvious flaws. .

It is a sugar free drink mix that you put into water to flavor it a bit. . Non carbonated. . Koolaide-like . . those pesky artificial sweetners I have a love/hate relationship with. Supposed to be Zero everything but I've heard that it can induce cravings . . I'm not a sweet freak but I so hate plain water. so I force one plain water (double) to every other drink I have . .when I'm following plan 100%. . I've tried to cut it out all together but then I find I don't drink nearly enough of anything. . Besides, Al drinks gallons and look at her progress. . Whoop. Whoop. .

Thank you, Denise! Considering Stillman's is a little "old" I often wonder what considerations he would make for some of the new-improved items on the market today. However, on the flip side (I think Silly said it). .Plain and simple is always better. .but i get tired of boiled eggs. . and more boiled eggs. . A scrambled one tastes so much better some days!

JSnap! Rock on girl! Now keep it up! Stay strong!
IM! I feel your pain, sweetie! I really do! I have some questions for ya! Have you had your thyroid checked, and other hormones as well. I had a horrible thyroid problem and it was undetected as the drs didn't know what right test to do and I gained 110 lbs. eating 1200cals a day while pregnant. NOT GOOD! Also, you may be Estrogen dominant or have Poly Cysstic problems as well! I say start there first! These are things you CAN't do anything about with without a DR! Okay! Now, I've mentioned before the artificial sweetners. The gum, the soda the crystal light! These are KNOWN things that stall or make peeps gain when used. You may be extremely sensitive to them like I am! I had to dich all those things. It sucked, but now I don't even miss them at all! My wt. loss is so much more impt. that a moment of pleasure with the AS! Just do yourself a favor and ditch them too! They are poision! Citric acid is another no no for some! Just to let you know, I went 2 solid mo. and didn't weigh myself out of fear. I did eveything right, super low carbs but kept the diet soda and had like 900 cals a day! DIDN'T LOSE A OZ. I was so upset! Stupid diet soda. Do a Google on how bad it is for wt. loss in some! Then, don't be so hard on yourself! YOu can do this! Look at how far you've come! I think now you body is in resistant mode and you have to let it know your mad! So, here's what I did to lose like 30 lbs. in 1.5 mo. It's basically eating only egg whites and LCow cheese when I was hungry. It was eating around 6 or 7 whites at eat meal or at ea. time I was hungry or either .5 cup egg beaters made in an omlette or just raw whites with mustard around 6 or 7 times a day. Give or take, it's around 6-700 cals a day! But, if I was hungry, I ate! Just try it and see if it would jump start you. OMG! I'm amazed, I did it yesterday and I'm down .8 today but my appetite is DEAD! This tells me that Ckn and Turkey make me hungrier. HOw weird is that. I had around 560 cals yesterday too! My appetite was nile so I didn't eat much! NO cheese or peanut butter! So for me it's a loss of 2.8 since Monday! I'll take it! My week isn't really over till Monday as I go from Mon-Mon! I'm hoping to lose .5 a day doing this! I'm also going to start working out on my TMill 25-30 min a day and see if this won't make me stall out again! Chin up IM! We'll, figure this out! Don't fret. And, as far as today goes, I'd TOTALLY bring my food. Who cares what others say! God, like you'd care whatever they ate. Don't give others your power. You're on a mission and tell them your serious about your health and you are doing a food allergy test! WHo cares... Make you eggs mix in some 0 carb mustard grill up your turkey and then put that sucker on the fire and make it hot! DO IT! And, you'll be down a lb tomorrow! Okay EGGHEADS! Let's getter done! I'm lookin for a solid 9 gone by Tday! it's the count down. We can do it! Hugs, B ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Don't worry, GT! The more you have to lose the more will come off! When I was my post preggers wt. I lost like 10 a week! It has to do with your wt.! Where we are, 143/149 we'd be lucky to lose a solid 3-4 a week and that's hard pressed!

Good Monday Morning....
I was feeling dizzy on Friday (at work), so I added some low carb veggies into my Saturday and Sunday dinners. And a bit of roasted, no salt almonds. The scales actually moved down a bit as well. But I am now back on my high protein yummy diet. This morning it is coffee and eggs. I have water packed tuna for lunch. Drinking lots of water. Thanks for all the good advice!!! -Lynne |

I have been gone so long, I am not even sure what my avatar looks like
![]() I have been doing Stillman's off and on for almost 3 years and I find it is the best way for me to lose, that is if I stick with it. I have been trying to get back on the wagon, but I keep losing my grip . Hopefully coming back here and posting often will keep me focused. I restarted today with a weight of 137.6, I would love to get back down to the 110-115 range before the Christmas feast, which is just under 7 weeks. Just enough time to get off some 25-30 pounds.

Hi Everyone and welcome Cat. As as seasoned stillmans girl, you know it works, and we know you will meet your xmas goal if you stick with us! so glad you came back!
Hey IM2! Im so sorry I've been gone. Just read up on the troubles the last few days and I think you handled the bon-fire like a champ! Only thing you were missing were the drinks! Beth and Getting there: You guys give great advice. thanks for being here to lift us up! ![]() Jenger: Keep it up - You're doing awesome!!! Lynne: Sorry you were light-headed. Nice job jumping back on plan!and SLATMAN: You are doing great too! Is that 5 pounds already? WTG! Cskies: thanks for the info. Wondering.. How quickly do you gain when going off=plan, or does the Stillmans/Atkins even it out? |

One thing really stuck with me that IM2 mentioned.... About once we're at goal and we change plans, the weight comes back quick. I am rrreeeeaaally nervous about this and think about it all the time. I don't want it to be true, but my gut is telling me that it is. I guess thats why Stillman said that everytime we gain 3 pounds, to go back to QWL for a week. It's really not the way I want to live my life, but I gave up that option when I decided to lose the weight the fast, i guess....
I've been on many many diets and even though I tell myself, I'll never let me get "that big" again, I have always gotten lazy and gained it all back. So, I guess Im saying again but for the last time... I'll never let myself get big again! Its ok to mess up and have brownie or in my case in a few hours, a couple Crystal Light Vodkas. As long as we stop at that and jump back on plan!! There is one HUGE difference this time for me though... I have all of YOU to keep me in check!! Sorry to bring up some negatives. Im done... and wanted to say thanks for being here for me! OK. So, like Beth is sayin (and SillyErin has always said) let's get this over with and get it done fast! We've already made it through the hard part so, no more cheats!!! We'll worry later about what to do after we're all skinny! Thanksgiving isn't far away. Let's follow the plan to a T until then and jump right back on til Christmas!! (Shaking finger at you all) Don't you guys let me log in tomorrow and hear you've been cheating! (I say this with a big smile and lots of love in my heart) |

Beth: I can't do the egg whites with you. Im sorry. I havent had an egg since before 7/25. I have no idea what it would do to my system. I will however keep my portions smaller. Since I got sick, I havent gotten my appetite back yet. (Im still not 100%)

Oh God Al-you can shake all the fingers you want at me-I've just fallen off-plan Big-Time!
I just seem to have no willpower at all left. I'm not even gonna list all the things I had(involves crisps and chocs tho!) God it's not funny-I have been on and off plan since mid-September. Up untill I barely "cheated" once. I was really disciplined. Seriously what is wrong with me?? And I was back up 2 pounds this morning-and TOM came a calling. Aaaagh! O.K. Enough is enough-as of tomorrow I am back on plan. And I mean it this time. I am gonna post everything I eat here so hopefully that will keep me in check. I was reading Cat's post (Welcome, by the way!) and she's right 25lbs is totally doable by Christmas IF WE STICK TO PLAN!! I really want the last of the weight gone. I don't even want to think about being at goal and gaining the weight back. Not gonna think about it untill I'm there-then I'll deal with it. |

Getting this in just under the wire! I had a REALLY busy day today after a weekend of totally goofing off. The good news is that even though I had MAJOR cravings Saturday night, I used some of Dr. Gullo's "commandments" to get me through (I though about how bad I would sleep due to heartburn, etc. if I binged and I just kept telling myself that the feeling will pass. And it did!!!)
I'm STILL at 122.5 but I'm trying to think positive: I NEVER stay at one weight (especially such a low one) for this long (almost 2 weeks...I think); usually I'm on a daily bounce, up and down, up and down. Plus, to be honest, I haven't really been doing Stillman's, but just keeping my calories below 2000. Reading all your posts today has got me all revved up though! THANKS!!! Okay, here we go... The Ninth Thin Commandment: Treat Your Calories Like Dollars (NOTE: Some of this won’t apply to Stillman’s since it focuses on calories; nevertheless, there’s still lots of good info.) Commandment Essentials: *Eat high-calcium dairy foods and vonnamon, both of which make fat cells behave more efficiently *Substitute delicious light versions of your favorite foods for calorie-laden “fat” versions *Drink 16 ounces of water to help keep calories and carbs from being stored as fat *Watch for hidden calories, such as the right foods being prepared the wrong way *Spend your calories only on foods you really care about *Eat foods that provide high satiety, but low calories (133) Calorienomics: Stretching Your Calorie Dollar Four principles guide calorienomics: 1) Finding foods that are low in calories but high in taste, nutrition, and satiety 2) finding foods that the body uses in a way that promotes greater loss of weight than other foods with equal calories. These “body-friendly” foods either kill appettie with small amouts or give you few calories with large amounts 3) Finding the very best light substitutes for your favorite foods with the taste, texture, look, and satisfaction of the originals. They keep the taste w/o the calories 4) Avoiding the foods and BEHAVIORS that bust you budget and participating in behaviors that STRETCH it (135) The Budget Stretchers #1) The Thermogenic Effects of Foods: Lean protein has the most thermogenic effect of all foods. It is estimated to use up roughly 30 percent if its calories for digestion. Simple carbs…have poor thermogenic effets, burning around 6 to 8 percent of their calories in thermo genesis. Fat calories are the lowest, burning about 3 percent of their calories… The four thermogenic winners that really exercise your metabolism and work hardest to end your appetite are: White-meat fish and seafood; vegetables that are high-fiber and low-starch; egg whites; and fiber #2) Food That Make Fat Cells Behave More Efficiently: In studies that give the same amount of calories to two groups of dieters, the group that gets this food loses 70 percent more weight than the group that doesn’t…What’s this ‘70 percent-edge food?’ High-calcium dairy. And their’s also a food with zero calories that helps weight loss, kills your appetite, and stabilizes your blood sugar with less than a teaspoon of it per day. The food is a delicious spice -- cinnamon. #3) Substitution: Find light versions of your favorite foods #4) Satiety: The two foods that keep you full the longest: fish and boiled potatoes (!) #5) Can a Fruit Help You Lose an Extra 10 Pounds?: Studies show that grapefruite can, 3 servings a day in the form of either 8 ounces of grapefruit juice, or half a grapefruit, or special capsules of freeze-dried grapefruits with meals #6) Water -- The Magic Elixir: 6 to 8 glasses a day #7) Use Fixed Meals: With fixed meals you know exactly what how many calories your getting. #8) The Exercise Edge: Exercise’s greatest contribution is to success at weight control -- b/c it gives focus and structure. It encourages the right behaviors for dieters…not just the calorie burn (136 - 141) Budget Busters #1) Eating Food “Just Because It’s There” #2) Eating High-Calorie Food Too Often or Indiscriminately #3) Activity Eating: like while watching TV or in front of the computer #4) The 10-Minute Problem in Restaurants: The first and last 10 minutes in restaurants can cost more than the meal b/c of breadbaskets, alcohol and dessert; The next time you want to reach for that roll or dessert menu -- if you let the 10 minutes pass it can save you hours in the gym #5) Hidden Calories: Too much of the right food & the right foods served with the wrong ones (i.e. sides); the right foods prepared in the wrong way; salad dressing #6) Counting in Calories, Not Calorie Units: It’s not how many calories per serving that matter, but how many servings you typically eat #7) Too Much Variety: when your taste buds encounter the same foods again and again, they get satisfied quicker. Too much variety keeps them curious and slower to signal “Enough.” #8) Trigger foods (141 - 145) Busting the Buster: The Secret Weapon -- Keep a food diary Targeted Eating: Honoring Your Priorities -- Targeted eating is my strategy for avoiding or limiting the foods you care less about so you can eat the foods you care more about or have them more often…So if you like to splurge on gourmet meals in a special restaurant or have a big dinner party coming up on the weekend, from Monday through Thursday eat light…Build up you savings by being selective about what you eat… (146) Last edited by princessdaisy; 11-09-2009 at 04:08 PM.. |
