Cupcake...If i had that scale i'd probably live on it. It'd drive me crazy! Right now the very first turkey i've ever eaten is in the oven. We're only allowed the white meat right? It's a 14 pounder so it should have a good ammount I hope....that is if it makes it through my cooking edible!

Mmm! It is kind of addictive! Have you never eaten turkey before??? Or do you just mean a full one! I think prob just the white meat cos Still. says "lean meats only with all fat removed". I don't think ther's much fat in turkey-meat tho-at least not as much as in red meat. Def no skin tho!

I havn't had the cream cheese cos Philadelphia has too many carbs and not enough fat-so I read anyway!

Cupcake- I've eaten PLENTY of turkey...just never baked my own. I usually buy the ground lean breast and for holidays I do the ham. I'm crossing my fingers!

Cupcake- I'm not a good cook. I'm good at a few things and I can make all the basics but i don't feel comfortalbe handling a whole turkey. My hubby is no help. I needed him to pull out the bag of the insides and he wouldn't do it because it was "gross". Gee...thanks...

Does anyone purchase rotisserie chicken from their local supermarket? Safe to eat on Stillman?

I have in a pinch. Check the ingredients list though. They sometimes like to inject/marinate them with sugars.

On a side note: you can make your own in a slow cooker. Just rest it on top of a few aluminum foil balls. the fat/grease will fall to the bottom and you'll have your very own fall off the bone, rotisserie chicken without the sugar, for half the price.

When you say a slow cooker, is that same as a crockpot? Ahhh, are you talking about sticking my hand inside?!?!

Yes crockpot! Yes! Stick your hand in and pull out the guts! Its my favorite part! kidding. If youve never done this before, they sometimes like to stick a little baggie of guts near the rear end too.

BTW - I find that 6 hours in the crockpot is enough. going 8 will be too dry.

I have seen those small hens at my grocery store. They are not very big.... maybe the size of a large baseball. Will those work in a crockpot?

Ewww..no.

I'm talking like a 5-7 pounder. Just like the pre-cooked rotisserie. If you have a BJs or Costo, you can usually get 2 for 1.

After 3 days of turkey, I wanted to move on I'm going to the grocery store tonight. I have seen a bag of chicken wings.... but I imagine they are probably coated with sugar or ingredients that I shouldn't be eating.

So I just buy a 5 pounder and then stuff small balls of aluminum foil and place the entire thing into the crockpot? No water? Just turn it on on low and it will be ready when I get home from work?

Put the chicken on top of the balls to keep it from sitting in its own juices. No water. Its gonna make a lot of juice. Dont forget to season it up. Then you can make chicken soup the next night with the bones. Tutorial to follow...

I looked at my crockpot. It is 3.5 quart. Is that too small for chicken? I used it about 3 years ago and then I put it away.

Im not sure. Mine is pretty big. You'll have to take a look at those chickens and see how big they really are. If it doesnt fit, you can always roast it in the oven (may take like 3 hours), or even boil it.

Thanks for your advice! I am heading out to the store in a few minutes and see what they have that may fit into my crockpot.
