OK. .I'm having a major meltdown. . .

I finally joined the community center and today will be the first day I will take the kids there. . Guess what they want to do? Swim in the Pool.. My baby is only 6 so an adult has to be within arm's reach. . Do you realize what that means? Huh?? That means, I'm going to have to #1) find my swimming suit. . #2) actually put it on. . and #3) go out in public in it!!!

I'm feeling kinda sick right now.. Why did I not think of this before?? Maybe I can be really nice to hubby and he'll do it? I'm not ready.. . I really, really, really am not ready! Besides, I don't live in a very large community and the chance that I'll see someone I know is even greater. . OMG> .I'm dying!@!!

I'm gonna say yes to this one. BUT.... I had much more weight to lose than you when I first started Stillmans. I used to eat it all the time, and a chunk of my weight came off the first month. I have cut back a lot on it but still enjoy it for 1-2 days, maybe every other week. Ground turkey is awesome too, extra crispy for me thanks!

Hey IM2!! So sorry you're melting!!! I have a few cute suits that perk up the twins and have skirts. They work wonders for the self esteem. Order one! (Even though you'll be ordering a bikini soon enough)

Awww..IM2.. first.. (((hugs)))
Now..
I have lived in hawaii most my life and I cannot tell you how many events and fun times I missed out on because I did not want anyone to see me in a bathing suit. I now realize.. they dont care! They would not give it a second thought.. but here I am thinking about all I missed out on. I wouldnt even go to the gym because all the skinny people were there " looking at me"... well.. no they werent. They didnt care; they cared about themselves being there, not me.
I cannot stress this enough ... please remember we are own worst judges and critics.
Now, I do not want to appear to be a meany butt.. but I will pretty much guarantee you not one person there is going to look at you, point and laugh.. nor will they snicker behind your back. Because.. they are they for their own health or activity and really they dont care what others look like in their suits... just like you are probably not looking at others and judging them... right? Please, let this be your big opportunity to embrace yourself and who you are right this minute...and enjoy your time with your son.
Lastly.. I recommend a sarong to keep you bottom half covered right up until the minute you jump into the pool.. LOL! Thats what I do

I'm. . Baaaackkk!!!

Thank you, everyone for the wonderful advice and the wishes. . I could definately feel the love!!!

LV: sometime back, I remember giving myself that exact same pep talk. .I did exactly the same thing. skipped out on a lot of living because I had nothing to wear or was too fat! I'm so happy to learn I wasn't the only one and you are exactly right! However. .that still didn't force me into that suit. . besides, I tried on the suit I had stuffed into the deepest depths of my closet . except now the girls fall right out of it! Try to find a suit in Michigan in November!! ugggg. Anyway, my boys were just as excited to walk and run around the track, which is what we did I even jogged once or twice. . pretty scary. I am hoping to deter them from the pool until I am ready. . I'm just not there yet. . today the track, tomorrow the locker room!!!
BTW: Al. .I don't think I'll ever wear a bikini. . After 4 "large" boys. . there are parts better left covered!! Heheheh. . my boys were all just shy of 10 pounds and I have a pretty small build so you can imagine what that did to me!! I'd be very thrilled to just find a suit that fits!! I will. .

I stopped at the meat market (the real meat market. . hehehe) on the way home and picked up some chicken. .they had marinated breasts for 1.99 pound!! How bad can the lemon/pepper be? Hopefully not cuz I bought a lot!! I am going to live on chicken for the next few days until I can get another turkey. . .MMm

Down 2.2 lbs!!!! I have little appetite...thankfully! I am hoping this will get me going and get me going good!!

Yesterday I ended up having:

1.5 cups lf cottage cheese
2 egg whites/5 oz tuna in water
3/4 lb lean ground beef
.5 cup lf cottage cheese

I downed a ton of water and drank some hot tea...that really helped! I get so cold and the hot tea holds me for a nice treat!

Em - Don't worry.....you lost a ton the first week! Over 5 lbs. When I looked at your menu it looked like there wasn't much food. Plus, that day you took your daughter to the airport - you said you didn't eat for 6 hours. Could it be your calories may need to be higher? hang in there! I will probably need this same pep talk soon

Thanks MS. I might need more calories. I've been reading the stillman book and he does encourage fasting. Maybe I'll try a fast for a couple of days. I think part of it is I had a baby 10 weeks ago and at 2 weeks post partum I got the Depo shot because I got my tubes tied at 6 weeks post partum and they need to make sure you're not preggo. (I got my tubes tied because my last 2 pregnancies destroyed my left kidney and it would be life threatening to have another baby. I actually had an IUD when I got pregnant with the last one) Anyway...sorry this is a little TMI but i've been on my period ever since I got that shot so I think i've probably got some water retention things going on. If I knew what a hassle Depo was I never would have let them give it to me! It made me GAIN after I got it.

Congrats on you're 2.2 pounds. It feels GREAT to see a loss huh?

Has anyone ever used water pills? I've been researching Depo and almost everyone gains weight and a lot of them use water pills for the excess retention. Just wondering if they are safe!

MS! Yay. .2.2!!!! I Love 2.2!!!

Em: She's right. .don't worry about it too much. . it'll be back off (and then some) before you know it. If you are drinking enough water and avoiding salt, you shouldn't need water pills.. they are only a temporary fix anyway. . Just go back to feeling great and looking good and gauge losses by how clothes fit..Really,. I haven't lost too much in the last month but my clothes fit better. . .I must be toning up!!!

EM - No wonder! You just had a baby 10 weeks ago! It took me several months to stabilize hormone wise and then I began having a better grasp on the whole weight loss at that point. That being said my oldest is a teenager and my daughter is almost 9. The water retention is probably what is going on with you.

I know when I was prego and after wards losing all the water took forever. Plus, just as you mentioned the depo shot may have something to do with any gain. But, don't get discouraged.... you are gonna get back on the losing streak! I bet you already look great and in the next few weeks you will look even greater!!!

I took water pills and they Im2fat is right - the fix is only temporary. Are you drinking tons of water? That helps me sometimes.

Hey EM! I feel your pain! Don't fret. We'll get to the bottom of this! I don't think you should fast. You're still adjusting to the pregnancy and such. Just stay strong and don't waver with you food. Be consistant and your body will work it out. It's all water wt anyway. You're probably just holding water as you lose. I do this sometimes too! Make a journal and write down all you eat and do this has really helped me to see what the heck is going on. One mo. I was all over the place up and down but I didn't get discouraged and low and behold I lost 10 lbs that mo. So, it's going to be okay. I promise.

Make a journal and write every freaking thing down in there. Get your water in and maybe lay off the exercise a bit. I had to stop working out for like 1.5 mo. as it was stalling me. I know it goes against common rules of dieting but you are eating so little and it may be putting too much stress on your body. Hang in there, beauty. It will happen. Breathe!

Thanks Beth! I've been writing down everything I'm eating. I eat about 4 times a day but it's never more than either 4 oz of ground lean turkey breast or a hard boiled egg, or a can of tuna, or scrambled egg whites. That's all I eat.Maybe I'm not getting enough calories in? I also think I haven't been drinking enough water. Does that make a big difference?

Em, please don't attempt a fast right now. I'm sure you need all the energy you can get with the little ones running around and the new baby. I know how you feel, I've wanted to try too, but because we have kids, I think its a little to risky to take the chance of passing out, not to mention the utter crankiness we'll probably experience. please don't be mad at me.. I just think you need to give yourself lots of time to heal since the tough pregnancy. In itself, Stillmans is already a fast of sorts.

hugs!

Aleria: I appreciate the advice. I know better than fasting i'm just VERY impatient with dieting. I usually do the starve myself approach which has always worked but i'm doing this because it's a lot healthier. Just Very impatient!

Hi guys! Well I'm back! And I weighed today and am back up to 150-which means I put on 3lbs in 5 days.
O.k. so I wasn't doing Stillmans to a tee but still I was hardly on a binge either. Had egg for breakie, chicken 4 lunch and salad for dinner. The only thing I ate "off-plan" were 2 Atkins advantage bars, salad(no dressing) one yoghurt-had 9grms of carbs and 3 biscuits(cookies) O.K. but that was it over the weekend. I prob didn't drink enough water I suppose. Oh yeah and exercise was pretty much nil. But it could hardly be just water weight because the carbs still weren't that high-and it's not that time of month either.
But just thinking if I put on that much so quickly what will it be like at maintenance---if I ever get there--I mean that was hardly so far off-plan(o.k. apart from the bickies!) And I know I can't keep up the amount of exercise I do here-I just simply wouldn't have the time
So since Nov1-I have only now lost 2lbs-that is pretty bad going.
I was def thinking of doing a complete fast-but don't want to crash my metabolism completely. Or the Atkins fat-fast. (I bought mayo today.) But I suppose I always thought Stills was prob better than Atkins. I seriously need something to kick-start the loss again. I haven't lost any inches for months either.
It's just so annoying now-I really thought I would have lost more since September. And I'm getting impatient. And o.k. I know it slows down the less you have to loose-but I still have a good bit to go-believe me I can see it!
O.k. that's my rant over--sorry! I usually have one every couple of weeks!!xx

Cupcake you're BACK YAY! Sorry about your 3 pounds. I'm up 2 . We'll get it back off! I can totally relate with the impatient part though you are much more entitled to be impatient than I am since you've been doing this a lot longer!

Hi Em! Yeah it's awful going up on the scale isn't it! I've just been reading back the posts I missed. You really have had a tough time with your pregnancies-sorry.
I used to have the QWL book years ago-wished I hadn't thrown it out-I had forgotten that there was variations of the protein one-I suppose I'm doing the dairy one cos I always have milk in my tea! I remember ther was a 350 cal pilots diet-egg and tomato or something!
Think Stills def was a big fan of fasting and low-cal! I def was thinking of doing a fast for a couple of weeks but I thought I read somewhere-maybe in that book that eating protein actually made you loose more then eating nothing! Well I hope that's true anyway!
I do think drinking lots of water makes you loose more-maybe it just flushes everything out-not sure.
As for the diuretics for water retention-don't take them-drink more water instead .It will sort itself out. As a teen I had anorexia and would take them regularly but they just mess you up.
Yeah I'm just so impatient now too!!

Nobody can be mad at you for passing on sweets. If they are, shrug it off. As far as staying away from sides and such, put a small helping on your plate (if you can stand it). Make it your own inside joke and see who really notices. Us dieters would be the only ones to notice!

I'm not sure what my holiday will bring... one thing for certain is if I go outside of the Stillman realm, I will pick 2 items to try, and they will be very small portions. My promise to myself is that this won't be a "ruined it for the day" mentality. For once, I plan on not getting so stuffed that I have to go to bed early. Thats my plan. Im stickin to it.

Cupcake!- I'm chugging the water...if not drinking enough has something to do with it i'm fixing it dang it! I've been reading the book and it says that the water washes out the remnants of fat that weren't absorbed and so drinking makes the scale go down. I've been just putting a tiny bit of milk in my coffee and calling it the skim milk variation diet . He allows 2 full glasses plus more cheeses so I figure that little bit can't hurt anything!

Aleria- Yeah..i'll just put stuff on my plate and not eat. I'm def. determined not to cheat especially since i'm not craving anything. Why ruin my diet when I don't even crave the bad foods? I am going to eat the ham which i'm sure probably isn't the leanest. The grocery store has a deal if you buy a ham you get a turkey for free. I'm only bringing ham so i'm going to keep the turkey for next week!

Em-yeah I thought it was something like that-flushing out the waste--good--but yuk!!! Yeah I can't do without milk in my tea-I would be too miserable!
Al-the ruined it-so might as well ruin it more!! mentality is the worst-dunno if that's what you meant-trying to have-forget it and move back to plan mentality!
Nobody has written about what happens after Stills-everybody says that you'll put back on the weight tho--nobody has confirmed tho---and there's always an exception to the rule, right!!!!
